Hawaii here. I found out through DNA testing that I am almost 100% Scottish. I was told I was Swedish. Being without family it is so wonderful to find your channel and learn my roots. Thank you!
Ohhh a book would be wonderful! You're right about doing what drives your passion. If you want to, do it. Regret is a useless thing to carry around with you.
@@scotlandunplugged Okay,, first. Remember this word…. Landscape!! Keep it wide, side to side. Love the archeoastronomy. Fascinating stuff. I enjoy Graham Hancocks theory that there was a highly intelligent civilization before the younger dryas. That those are the people who taught agriculture, animal husbandry, and the archeoastronomy to those who were left after the cataclysm. It’s an interesting theory but…….. who taught them?? Anyway have you ever pondered how the three of you became so talented in your own right? Seriously, I’ve known families where there was no discernible talent in anything, much less three who are so talented in vastly different ways. Interesting nature vs nurture question. Oh well,, greetings from just outside glorious (cough, choke, wheeze) Dayton Ohio.
I love your channel, my great grandparents (Campbell) were from South Uist and were part of the Highland clearances of Lady Cathcart and ended up pioneering in Saskatchewan, Canada. The church that the settlers from Scotland built called St. Andrew’s still stands and is a historical site now. It’s all beautiful stone work and there’s a plaque dedicated to the settlers that built the church. They must have missed their beautiful homeland so much. I really appreciate the stories/histories, hearing your beautiful accent and seeing the beautiful homeland of my ancestors. Thank you so much.
I am so looking forward to your upcoming videos. I want to know more about my Scottish history. I am sure you will be successful. Safe travels ❤️✌️🏴
Hey from Wisconsin, USA. Looking forward to history posts. Dont forget spots that are not famous. You are presenting all of Scotland most of us will never see it in person, so help us see all of it good and bad.
I missed the live broadcast but here I am in Ontario Canada and it’s a holiday weekend. I’ve been enjoying your historical videos since my ancestors were from Skye and Islay. Orkney interests me but that would be quite a trip even for you. Of course I’m a fan of your brother and love cattle. My grandfather on my mother’s side had a dairy farm in Cape Breton that was granted to his grandfather after the Highland Clearances. I look forward to your next adventure.
I am looking forward to learning more about Scotland. I found out through DNA testing that I am dominantly Scottish, so I am excited to see your future videos.
Hello from Ontario, Canada 😊🇨🇦 I love your videos. 👍👍. I love watching both James and Graeme too. ❤️ It is mid-afternoon here in Bailieboro on Victoria Day Holiday weekend and finally spring.
I'm sorry I missed the live feed when it was actually live. I'm getting to see it now after the fact. I love your channel! You have so much to give and it is going to be fantastic with you focusing on making those videos. You make us feel as if we were actually there!!! Thank you sir and you also keep up the excellent work!!! From Pensacola, Florida
@@scotlandunplugged You are welcome! You do have such a way with telling stories. Like I said before, that's a talent that not everyone has been gifted with. I think it's amazing that you're wanting to take time off from your job and finish books that you have written until stories that need to be told. The world needs more people like you guys!
Def come across to Northern Ireland again and make it longer than a weekend, the Mourne mountains in Co Down is very similar to Scotland with lots of stone walls, Southern Ireland is also very beautiful and well worth a visit.. Your stories are great. Thanks..
Great to hear we will see more of you. I hear the job of editing video is a pain, but it would be real helpful if you can put a map of villages you talk about, giving us some idea of where in Scotland the history is taking places. Please
Confession might be good for the soul but if you are 97% accurate and giving the world 75% of great information about Scotland, that's pretty awesome. You have a talented family! No sisters?
I had to go look again, 84% British, Scottish, and Irish. 15% French & German. The test I did localizes to regions, one of which has a place called Tipton in it and that was my maternal grandmother's maiden name and decades ago a researcher published a giant book abt just that surname going back to a legend from around 580 AD. It's crazy thick and tiny print. My dad's side I know traces back to Plantagenet in France somewhere and Douglas in Scotland but I've never found any Irish relatives, yet. Yet. I've been interested in geneaology since I was 17. DNA has been awesome. We also have Native American in one line so I was surprised at just how much European my results were. It's been funning learning about Scotland. I love Texas but it's just so dang hot. Everytime I watch a video in Scotland I think it looks like heaven. Green, cool, beautiful... If only Texas was in Scotland. 🤣
Watching after the fact from Texas - subscribed a long time ago but saw you on your brothers channel and went to see what I'd missed on your channel. Just finished binging all your older content. Glad you'll be doing more! We knew we had Scottish ancestry but I did a dna test and confirmed it's much more than I expected. My maiden name is Fowler and the direct male line goes back to a Fowler who married a Douglas. She was the daughter of one of the Earl's of Angus. I'd LOVE to come look for records of the Fowler men to see if they were English or Scottish farther back than that but I know there's a lot of information abt the Douglas clan back to abt the 1100's or so. I love the information you're providing. Maybe a series on different castles or a series on different clans. Be interested in it all. So I have a question maybe you cld do a video on - the fictional show (and books) Outlander does seem to talk about real battles, wars, and political issues of the time frame it's set in. Beyond the character relationships, is it fairly historically accurate in what, when, and why of events the characters are living through? That is if you've watched any of it or read the books of course. I haven't read them yet but I'm hooked on the show. If you ever make it to Texas, be absolutely sure to hit up at least 2 of the Texas Monthly top 50 BBQ restaurants. #9 is abt an hr from where I live near Lubbock. The rest are all on the other side of the state, 6-12 hours from me. There's so much to see that you could be here for a month and still miss 80% of the state. 😉 YT closed captions understand you about as well as they understand my Texas drawl. 😂 half the time I have to rewind to understand a place or person name because youtube is just WRONG.
Haha. West coast Scottish isn't one RUclips or AI tools tend to understand. Texas sounds awesome. My brother, James, went there to build a sculpture and spent some time eating barbecue food, burritos, etc. I've never actually seen Outlander. Strangely, it isn't massive in Scotland, mainly because of the platforms it has been shown on here. Definitely a good idea for a video though!
Anywhere in Scotland is fine. Could you also maybe hook up with your brothers during a fair or festival? Nothing too extravagant. I know two of you that have the gift of gab . It could be fun. This was a most enjoyable vid!
Ohhhh - sorry I missed the live feed, but it was about 5:00am here in Tasmania, so a bit early for me. 😴 Slightly disappointed that you weren't whisked off to the 18th century by the magic stones, although being forced to marry a burly Sam Heughan-type clansman might not have the same level of romantic appeal for you. 🤣🤣By the way, I share your disproportionate excitement when it comes to snow. I live quite close to the sea (Tasmania is also an island), but on a mountain, so we do get snow occasionally. I get all excited and then I remember that I live in a house with no central heating... 🥶
