Thanks again for a very nice and informative video! Why do they call Tilburgers "kruikezeikers" during carnaval? Tilburg was also called "the wool city". The inhabitants saved urine in jugs. These were bought up to be used later to wash the wool. As a reminder of this custom, the statue "De Kruikezeiker" stands in the Nieuwlandstraat.
(19:55) That’s Tilburg’s water tower. Built in 1879, it still supplies the cleanest spring water in all of the Netherlands to the local community. Also, during World War II it was used as a watch tower by the Germans
The mosaic bench arond 12:00 is called a "Social Sofa." If it's dirty, you should be able to wipe it clean with a tissue. The tiles are made of glass and cannot hold dirt on their surface. The grout in between is also decently mould/moss resistant if applied correctly. I used to work for the company and did minor work on the one visible at 2:36
Thank you for another great city tour. I so enjoy watching the two of your together. The banter and love between you is either very real or faked really well for vloggers. 😁
at 4:30 this major was one of the worst we had. And makes Tilburg less actractive to like neighbour towns like Breda or Den Bosch ('s Hetogenbosch). At 6:20 this whole area is under construction..At 17:54 boyscouts..well, we have a lot of scouting groeps in the Netherlands. Tilburg has about 10 different groeps. sidenote..I paricipate as a ham radio person (pa6psg) in world largest scouts event called JOTA (jamboree On The Air) held 3th weekend in Oktober and is a Worldwide event. as of 1957...at 19:53 The old watertower, nice old building.
Thank you for visiting my home city, Tilburg. You made it in the video a very special city. Thanks for the way you filmed and edited Tilburg and find the beautiful spots in Tilburg. But overall most of Tilburg is not pretty. You can find beautifull things like the "puishaven" and the old NS working place (nederlandse spoorwegen werkplaats). But overall the city is okay, but not beautifull. There is something for every one, but i believe there are better cities. This is my opinion.
Don't know if it's your jam, but just north of Tilburg is also the country's best theme park, de Efteling. Should definitely check that out, it has amazing theming/decoration. (and maybe you guys did that on the Sunday of this weekend ... 👀)
What if i told you guys never to visit Leeuwarden my city here in Friesland Nate and Katrina?😊 Other than that a great video keep up the great work👍 And Tilburg is a beautiful city in my honest opinion. En nog een prettige dag toegewenst?
Nothing wrong with Tilburg, but it just doesn't have much of the old architecture anymore. The city shows much of it's industrial past, but the music scene is very nice as well. Maybe return one day (or week) when Ayreon has one of their few live performances. I think Nate would love that.
Sorry, but I really can't have anything negative to say about Tilburg. Maybe that is because my grandparents from both sides are buried there. And way too many childhood memories are present, then again, way too many are also present with Breda, Eindhoven and Oosterhout. 😂
Btw if u like the restored industrial kind of buildings, go to noordkade in Veghel... theres a theatre, cinema, foodmarket and creative place there. U could do a blacksmithing workshop and then have a fancy dinner... also there's a really nice boutique hotel across the canal
Tilburgers are called kruikenzeikers 4 a reason..Apparantly they pee in flasks.. However 4 sure there are is redemption to be found everywhere.. Go visit Brielle.. The town where Dutch independence started..
Nobody seems quite sure if that ever really happened, but the story is that the local textile industry used ammonia to treat textiles, and that the workers brought in their pee from home because it contained ammonia. So no, Tilburgers don't pee in flasks, but it's possible they used to in the days when there was still a large textile industry.
Thanks again for a very nice and informative video!

Somebody lives in it now. I don't think it's functioning as water tower anymore.
Good to know! Thanks for the info!
How cool!
@@Kami69247 You’re right, I stand corrected. It was decommissioned in 2007. It’s a national monument now
In Tilburg you can find the Rock Academy, where Floor Jansen, lead singer of the Finnish band Nightwish went to school!
Thanks for the info!
Her : Normally in the states there would be someone for sec….
Him : YOU THINK WE CAN ROCK IT?

LocHal looks so cool! How interesting.

At this rate, you might be right! 😂

😂 We never would have made it this far if we were faking it! Thanks for the kind comment!

There’s also a little reptile zoo in Tilburg! It’s very nice!

20:00 minutes in the tower, it’s an old water tower.
We knew somebody would know! Thanks for the info!
How can you appreciate beauty when you never see ugly?

My! I would be fat eating those. Sounds yum to me! 😋
I love Tilburg ❤

It’s on our list!
What if i told you guys never to visit Leeuwarden my city here in Friesland Nate and Katrina?😊
Other than that a great video keep up the great work👍

That's like telling a child not to do something; it just makes it more enticing!
That’s how we roll! 😂

It definitely is more modern looking but we liked the vibe. We will have to keep the music scene in mind for a future visit!
So to use a Katrina word, I thought Tilburg was very "Cute" city!!! 😁
I would not call any city in the netherlands ugly some do have a lot of newer buildings in it
That’s kind of how we feel. There’s always something new to discover in each city!
If i go to a city then in more inclined to go to breda or even den bosch then tilburg.
We said that… 😂
That's because they don't want tourists to invade! 😂
who told you not to go ? or is it just clickbait ??
Did you watch the first 30 seconds?

That could be part of it! There’s always something unique about every city that gives it charm.
tilburg de schoonste stad van het laand
Is it really?? 🤯
in het spoorpark komt brian adams optreden
Op 28.06.2025 komt Nile Rodgers & CHIC naar Spoorpark LIVE Festival in Tilburg, Nederland.
@@nateandkatrinadotheworld Schoon in the local dialect doesn't mean "clean", as in standard Dutch, but "beautiful".
Thought Eindhoven was the ugliest city in the netherlands... get on a train and go to den bosch 😂
😂 Been there, done that.

Wow! So interesting to hear the history!
@@passantNL Yeah, of course noone is claiming the practice still exists. However the name stuck, even until today.
Please don't visit Arnhem 😘
