While I don't think that you will see this, You should Consider using "Arming Doublets", Knights Use These doublets due to it Having Chainmail in Select Sections of the Garment, Like the Arms, while the rest are Normal Padded Cloth or Wool, Knights wore these in conjuction of plate armor due to the armor having natural weaksponts due to it being needed to be "Banded", Meaning shot or stabbing weapons can use these Weak Spots to Stab the Person Wearing Plate Armor, Typically in the Underarms.

Seen and received! I'm very well aware of both arming doublets and the weakspots present in a lot of plate harnesses. The man at 3:42 is wearing maille voiders but I was considering drawing a doublet instead, ended up choosing voiders because I wanted to use that specific shape. I should've drawn more men getting dressed haha
I hope to represent a variety of styles of clothing, armour, arming garments, etc., I actually have some ideas for some doublets/arming garments that blend eastern and western design elements. All the plate armour I've drawn has visible cord where the plates are attached to arming points on an undergarment, so you're going to have to trust me when I say that I've put in the necessary considerations. Thanks for watching :)

I also want to Ask, Are you Planning to make Different Heraldry For the Soldiers? Like Banners on their Backs, Small Notches on the Back of Helmets to attach a Symbol to like those Found in Samurai Hemlets, or Even Tabards, It justs Feels weird Watching two people Kill Each other without knowing from which faction they are, Why they are Fighting, Etc.@powerfantasychannel

@@MDLXsierra I'm definitely planning to, it's just one of those things that I keep putting off actually developing haha. I've done some work on characters, but there's a lot I need to establish and a lot of creative decision making I need to do in order to design heraldry and other such cultural/family/faction symbols. It will get done (eventually)!!! Hopefully soon, definitely at some point

You should Consider Covering the Transition of Your World from "Bronze Age" to "Iron Age", Because These can Affect the Cultures, Even the Gods of the Culture, For Example, (Haephestus/Vulkan), The God of Forging and Blacksmithing for the Greek and Roman Pantheon, If Looked on a Roman Perspective, His Malformed Apperance would Only Make Sense To Smiths Themselves due to them being Exposed to The Heat and Flames, And Other Dangers relating to Forging on an Industrial Scale, But if Looked on a Bronze age Greek Perspective, It would make Sense to them that Haephestus would Look like how he is Shown due to Them Commonly Using Bronze. (Bronze is Made through Alloying Copper with other Materials, But before the Discovery of Tin-Copper Alloying, Copper was Typically Alloyed to Arsenic, And If Exposed to fumes of this Process, It would Ruin your Health. Bronze made from Tin and Arsenic is also different looking, Arsenic Bronze is Typically Darker in appearance due to the Lower Ratio of Copper used, and Other Such Impurities, Tin Bronze was More "Lively" in Appearance due to the Smelting and Ratios Being Mature enough to make High Quality Pieces, This is Why Early Greeks (Before Archaic Period) Had Full Bronze Plate Armor.) {If My Sources are still up to date, the Mecenean Armor Plate Uncovered from a Burial Ground can be used on Foot and on Chariots, It was Impressive too, Covering the entire Neck, Had Massive Pauldrons, Full chest Protection, and Even Extended to Cover the Thighs, It Even had the Boars' Tusk Helmets typical of Mecenean Greeks.} @powerfantasychannel

One great example where chainmail works is Beyond the Black River, one of the best Conan the Barbarian stories. In it, Conan and a group of rangers dive into a huge jungle to kill an enemy wizard and they're all shot down/captured EXCEPT Conan who was the only one to wear chainmail in a stealth mission.
Also, damn, mail is hard to draw. You make it look effortless.

Thank you, it's an interesting challenge to consider the aesthetics and functionality. I defo find weapons more difficult to design than armour, here's hoping I can come up with some cool ones in future :)

it quite similar to tang-song era's sword albeit disc guard are usually use on single edge dao than double edge jian but it all boil down to fashion preference

    • @powerfantasychannel
      @powerfantasychannel  7 часов назад +3

@@DebraLynche It is yeah, pretty much just a longer jian. I am curious if there's a functional preference for cross guards as opposed to disc guards with straight/curved swords respectively, as someone who doesn't actually fight with them it's very difficult to envision specific functionality (and it's tricky to find that kind of niche information online)

@powerfantasychannel mostly guard that didn't pretude to other dimension can sit more flat to body when carry on the hip
that's why in the west basket hilt sword evolve from covering 3 side to 2 side or even simplified to just knuckle bow in later era
and Chinese are more associated single edge sword to military and double edge as civil but not always
to oversimplified it would be single edge's likely to be state-issue made in mass
and double edge's what the officer purchased privately
anyway scholagladitoria did videos on cup guard, discguard that more talking about it in detail and skallagrim discussed about crossguard recently as well

Thank you dude, I'm glad that the combination of cultures is effective :)) And yep you're absolutely right, guy on the right is indeed intended to be a nobleman (or some other form of bastard nepo baby haha)

this introspective is very heartening, it can be hard to undo what you set out to do for a world, even when confronted by new evidence. I still demand middle/upper class urban levy equipment, show it to us, or I will make you hand*gone*

Really enjoyed this video. Keep up the good work. Tho I do find it cool how you came up with lore on how chainmail isn't widespread in Shien'xo. But this does however make me more excited to learn about more about these other cultures in power fantasy. Especially how their technologies or cultures affect one another.

Love what you are doing man, keep it up! One question, I might have missed this but it would be cool to know about longbows and crossbows in the setting and how they are primarily used. I guess since you have mostly mentioned mounted archers they dont really fiit in but would be cool to know about!

And With the Use and Improvement of Gunpowder in the Setting, Will you take the similar route that our World Took that Only Select Areas of the Body will be Armored, Even Leaving Back Protection Behind, Favouring Protection on only the Front?

Essentially yeah, I'm not sure how far I'll end up going with that though. I'm taking reference from up until the end of the 16th Century, so things like later cuirassiers with only a breastplate won't be something I'll cover, but there definitely will be the early stages of that kind of progression. Interesting question, thanks

Not hard to do no chainmail. Just means lots of bronze age armor designs and/or Renaissance armor.
