#1 Mertesacker has made a really solid season and has really shown how important he is for Arsenal. This video shows his best bits from this season.

i love to see how the big, slow n clumsy guy always positions himself at exactly the right place, at exactly the right time. it feels like everyone's just darting around him 10 times faster but mertesacker, with his movements like in slow-motion, moves one single step n take the ball away from the opposition.

It amazes me how how many good qualities he has yet most people want to talk about his speed. Next you will be saying Sanchez needs to work on his height.
If you want a target man upfront you wouldn't play Theo, if you want someone with pace you wouldn't play Giroud. When Arsenal play on the front foot, high up the pitch, this is a disadvantage to Per because of his pace. But when Arsenal sit deeper, he's Perfect.
+COREY ROSS honestly speaking Arteta, and Per are the only players right now who are not and have never been good enough for a club like Arsenal if people want to say well Arsenal aren't a big club than your right they are fantastic players in that case but when you look at the big clubs I'm talking about Chelsea, City ,Barca , Real these guys would be in reserves, Not sure they would even make it there..... loook maybe I'm wrong this is my opinion.... especially when you see youngsters like Mitrovic and Abel hernandez jump over Per to score headers you really start to think wow that is disgusting

Might seem a silly thing to say now after the away maulings we've suffered against the top sides this season, but Mertesacker is a massive part of our improved defence over the last three seasons, literally and figuratively! He is slow as f*ck, but he has brilliant positional sense. He is vocal, he is a leade, he is an organiser, he is fantastic in the air and his timing of his tackling is fantastic. He is a great player and he and Koscielny compliment each other perfectly. Szczesny, Mertesacker and Koscielny are three of our most important players, along with Arteta, Ramsey, Ozil, Walcott and Giroud. If we can sign an improvement/ alternative to Giroud, a top class centre midfielder, a top right back and a back up goalkeeper, we can give it a real go next season.

Everytime a ball comes into the box in the air, Per will get his head on it. And he has become more aggressive. Reminds me of Tony Adams, would be great to see him as permanent captain lifting the FA cup. If England don't win the world cup, i'll be rooting for Big Per's Ozils and Podolskis Germany.

I love how he tackles 0:45 Here in Spain when a defender makes a hard but fair tackle we call it ''hachazo'' which is a big hit with an axe. But this one definitely belongs better to the term. My god. He places his leg and it's like, no brother, the ball is going nowhere. And then his slow reaction once he steals it is priceless 🤣♥Our BFG, glad he's the academy director, he's got all the values kids should replicate.

Players like these are important as they motivate the team. We missed this type of personality at Man U, Arsenal are luck to have Per Mertesacker, he's a Soldier. We used to have Vidic and Ferdinand but not anymore.

He is a good player and he is very discipline. However for me, he cant really play in bpl cause the movement in bpl is very fast. Not saying that he is bad. he can read the game really well but his reaction is slow.
