Thanks for watching and the compliment. Hopefully we can make a difference
I highly recommend the bands:
Tower from NYC,
Significant Point from Tokyo,
Megaton Sword from Zurich,
Herzel from France,
Smoulder from Canada/Finland
and Flight from Oslo.
Great bands!
Striker !! They have to be at the top of these bands ! Great show guys 😁
Been listening to Rock music for over 50 years
Every day there’s new bands to check out.
Satans Fall, Hitten, and Riot City are awesome…Thank you Pete and Rich you should do couple episodes a month..
Love Riot City. 🤘
Riot City is definitely at the head of the pack in NWOTHM. Phenomenal, killer, mind blowing good stuff!
I have to credit Bryce Talks Metal for introducing me to the NWOTHM. Started with Skull Fist and Hitten and I was hooked on them immediately and haven’t looked back since. Like you guys mentioned, this movement is almost a bottomless well for the bands you can discover. I love the classic bands we all know and love but how exciting is it to have all this quality new music right in our wheelhouse?
Yup, Bryce also supports this movement
I had listened to Owlbear before the last episode but it didn't grab me. I gave it another shot after you guys brought it up, and that thing is awesome. Glad I gave it a second chance.
Yeah, that one gets better and better with every listen!
@@seaoftranquilityprog 💯
It’s a creeper as they say!
Venator - Echoes From The Gutter (LP), Paradiser (EP), perfect Singer, perfect melodies, the young Maiden i was born too late for, things are looking up
Oh fuck yeah. Venator is kiiiiiilllller! Quality stuff!
As far as other recommendations for favorites of mine
-Stallion
-Ambush
-Antioch
-Haunt
-Traveler
-Venator
Keep these primers coming Pete and Rich…lots of fun.
imo:
Stallion: great
Ambush: good
Antioch: awesome
Haunt: okay
Traveler: awesome
Venator: good
Great choices, all are on my list to hopefully get to in future episodes
@@independenceltd.I think I would agree with these assessments to a T. My feelings are very similar.
@@iceclimbers22 i definitely need to check into Stallion more. Love what I've heard so far.
Venator rules!
Roadwolf out of Austria is one I’ve just recently come across. I’m digging it quite a bit. Bands influences are Judas Priest,Saxon,UFO,Dio, and Ozzy. Been together since 2011 but debut album was 2021 and second album 2023. They are categorized as hard rock & heavy metal. With Napalm Records.
Enforcer gonna tour Sweden in november with Ambush😍
The two best bands in this genre
LOVEBITES from Japan! Midori and Myiako-an incredible guitar duo, the entire band is truly amazing!
@blackmark878 I was in my 20s during the 1980s. I instantly liked Lovebites when I first heard them because they took me back to the 80s. I think they are a great blend of styles. I consider them a heavy/power/thrash band. I would put them in the top 20 of the NWOTHM movement and the only one from Japan.
Riot City and Enforcer are my top 2 favorite bands from this movement. Riot City especially both 10/10 albums. I hope to see album rankings by these guys at some point some of these like Enforcer and Hitten already have a nice amount of albums to choose from.
Enjoyed the new episode, guys! Can't wait for the next one! Keep this flame burning! 🤘🏻❤️🔥🍻
Thank you. Will get to Claymorean too
@@MetalAsylumNJ highly appreciated! We're truly honored! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🍻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Must get that second album by Satans Fall awesome 💯💯💯🤘🤘
Stopped the video to listen to Satans Fall. What's to say but🤘🤘🤘
I am a member of a "metal" FB group called "True Metal Nation v2.0," and every time one of these episodes pop up, I pause after the mention of each band and post a song from the artist they're talking about. I then post a link to the entire show for group members to check out, if they choose to do so. Gotta spread the word...both in terms of the bands, but of Sea Of Tranquility as a show to check out...
I like Night Demon and seen them live. But I checked out Hitten and actually dug them. They seemed the most genuine of the other four. And I dig that guitar tone...very "George Lynch like."
The band Taipan from Australia is an underrated NWOBHM style band with some very good albums that deserve a listen.
I've heard Satan's Fall and Riot City, good stuff. A few to check out: Freeways (Canada) Dark Sky Sanctuary , catchy songs. excellent guitar solos. Attic (Germany) Return of the Witchfinder- vocalist sounds like King Diamond. Ironbound ( Poland) Serpent's Kiss.
Two of my favourite releases of 2023 were The Night Eternal-Fatale and Kerrigan-Bloodmoon. Would also highly recommend Seven Sisters from the UK (Listen to the singers other project "Phantom Spell" as well, not NWOTHM but fantastic stuff). New US Band "Savage Oath" with members from Pagan Altar/Summerlands, Visigoth and Manilla Road just released their debut and it's a banger🤘
One of my faves is a band called Munition. Visions is the name of their album and it's great. I would say it has a Judas Priest influence and there's a cover of Dreamer/Deceiver which is amazing.
One of my fav Priest songs will have to check it
Great little mini series
I saw Night Demon on Thursday in Maryland opening up for Blind Guardian. Pretty good stuff! My favorite NWOTHM bands are Skull Fist, Riot City, Enforcer, Visigoth, Cauldron and Eternal Champion.
seeing Night Demon/Blind Guardian tomorrow
Seeing Night Demon on the 23rd with Blind Guardian. Saw them last yr with Satan and Haunt, but they played the entire "Outsider" album with only three other tunes. So it'll be nice to hear a few different songs.
Looking forward to your review of Haunt.
Always great when Rich C participates! Great show, lots of good listening advice thank you
All 5 sound interesting on a quick listen. Found quite a few more on NWOTHM playlist. Ravage is another NWOTHM band that released a new one this past Friday. Like that one too.
Here is the list I found, sharing for SoT:
Ravage
Sign of the Jackyl
Seven Sisters
RAM
Monument
Metal Inquisitor
Lethal Steel
Kryptos
Haunt
Black Soul Horse
Attic
Hell Fire
Sonja
Blood Star

Wings of Steel
Bullet
Ignitor

Burning Witches
Roadwolf
Screamer
Air Raid
Portrait
Eternal Champion
Traveler
Ambush
Pounder
Midnight Spell
Lancer
Stray Gods
Sunderlands
I saw Hitten in 2022 with the excellent Seven Sisters (Pete would surely like their last album), and they were really fun live! To the LA point, they actually covered Unchain the Night, and Lynch style soloing was in abundance. Alexx Panza also sings for Jack Starr and was great in Athens earlier this year!
Ostrogoth, Crossfire, Acid, Highway Chile, Hunter, so many great bands. 🤘
Highly recommend Night Eternal from Germany! They have relessed few awesome albums
Wolf from sweden:)) especially "the black flame" release
Thanks again !!!! Serious , quality jam you've introduced me too !!
i also bought Hitten after the last episode
Thanks for this new series. I absolutely love the NWOTHM movement. Can't wait to hear you talk about Traveler, they're my favourite.
Some bands you may not have heard of:
Power Theory - really cool, more like USPM sound.
Lyzzärd - very interesting vocals and great speed metal riffs.
Stray Gods - very much like Iron Maiden, singer even sounds a little like Bruce.
SAVAGE - sound a lot like W.A.S.P.
Thanks again, love what you do! X
Just witnessed a perfect pairing Thursday night at the Fillmore in Silver Spring, MD. Night Demon and headliner Blind Guardian, phenomenal show!
seeing that show on the 23rd!
@independenceltd. You are in for a treat, Sir🤘
@@joeallegra556 awesome
Saw Enforcer in 2016 or 17 in Cleveland and got to meet them, great guys!! Love their stuff, but that last album I personally thought they fell off a bit. Don't dislike it, but doesn't have the fire the earlier albums have. Still enjoy them, but hope they catch that fire again!!
Thanks again guys!
This is great guys! Love getting your views on these bands (only a few I heard of), looking forward to diving in and checking them all out.
This is my cue to play "The Juggernaut" by Satan's Fall for the hundredth time. The greatest NWOTHM song
I saw Skull First year and they were pretty cool, also I really enjoyed the support from Sweden, Screamer they are definitely worth checking out!
And speaking of all-girl bands I'm off to see Cobra Spell at the weekend!
Just saw Savage Master/Screamer/Blood Star last month
@@independenceltd. Cool!
Tailgunner and Roadwolf
Yup, lol, two more on my list
Roadwolf is awesome.
as a huge fan of the newer metal bands, it's cool to see you 2 doing these shows...whether I'm already familiar with them or not, and for this episode I've been listening to Enforcer, Hitten & Night Demon for some time, giving them some exposure is such a great thing for these new bands. Great job guys!
Thanks for another awesome video guys. Im seeing Blind Guardian & Night Demon in Portland, Oregon on the 30th! Cant wait!
i bought that Owlbear cd after the last episode
Yes, yes, yes beautiful stuff
HELL FIRE
There's an English band called FURY that I think you guys would enjoy. They have 4 albums out, all really good, my personal favourite is Lost in Space
Is Becky Baldwin going to be able to pull double duty now that she's a full-time member in Mercyful Fate?
@independenceltd. Oh jeez I never thought of that! Would be an interesting joint tour!
Love it! How about GreyHawk or Savage Master? Thanks so much Pete and Rich!
RAM is a band that doesn't seem to get the recognition they deserve. Basically just pure Priest worship but the riffs and songs are killer. Also Ambush is just amazing.
Whitespade(ala Mororhead)-Ranger-Stalker-Vulture-Savage Master-Butcher-RAM(ala judas priest)
Sanhedrin from NY. Simply the best.
BURNING WITCHES ! I rememer that when I heard their "Black Widow" song /check out their official video for that song/ my jaw dropped on the floor and I couldn't pick it up for the rest of a day. Check them out, everybody, these ladies will kick you off your chair!
Thanks. Rich. C. &. Pete. / great stuff 👍💯
Thanks for watching
@@MetalAsylumNJ / Pete is right. When you were absent for that period of time/ the usual suspects ( daily subscribers)were looking for you. Glad you’re back in the mix Rich C. Enjoy day 👍💯
@garyjoyce2160 thanks , appreciate everyone looking for me to be on
Really happy that SoT is doing this series and think it could last indefinitely. There are so many of these newer/younger bands and many of them are really, really good. Also from Alberta, I've been enjoying all the albums of Traveller. They have a new one that just came out. Also, I've been really digging a Greek band called Dexter Ward. The singer used to be in another band called Battleroar. Don't much care for the last Battleroar album but these Dexter Ward albums are awesome, especially the latest one.
Atlantean Kodex - All three albums
(They are one of those bands which you either despise or think they're one of the greatest bands in this day and age. Granted, they are more a mix of Doom, Epic Metal and Heavy Metal, but there are still enough elements of the latter and some Maidenesque stuff that they can't be called a true Doom band such as The Temple or Evangelist.
Visigoth - Conqueror's Oath, Eternal Champion - The Armor of Ire - Probably some of the most well known Epic Heavy Metal albums of the past 10 years, but if you don't know them and like Manowar, Pagan Altar, Medieval Steel, Manilla Road these two bands are mandatory.
Sacred Outcry - Towers of Gold
One of the best albums of last year, these Greeks started in the late 90s but didn't release a proper album until 2020, which was alright. Not everyone can be Peter Gabriel and work 20 years on a single album and it'll be grand... Anyway, they've got new singer Daniel Heyman who has quite a bit of experience already and their music reminds me of a cross between old Kamelot, Atlantean Kodex, Virgin Steele, old Blind Guardian and because most of the band hails from Greece, many greek epic bands such as Battleroar or Sacred Blood are prevalent. It does not reach the sheer grandioseness of Atlantean Kodex, but it's honestly not far behind. Daniel Heyman has a very recognizable voice, somewhere between Roy Khan, Ralf Scheepers and a little bit Timo Kotipelto.
Good stuff. I agree. Love the Epic NWOTHM bands. Have you heard Triumpher?
@@DylanHoff Nope, just gave a quick listen. Epic Heavy Metal + mean Black Thrash combined? Unusual, but right up my lane.
Eternal Champions, 2016 album the armour of ire!
Both of their albums are awesome.
Last years Helms Deep-Treacherous Ways was a great new emerging talent.
We covered Helms Deep in the first episode.
I hear some Skid Row in that Hitten album too.
Nice vidéo...
SKULL FIST!!!!!
Mmmhmm!! Skull Fist is killer. Those first two albums are masterpieces. The latest one is good too.
Wings of Steel - combine old QR and Crimson Glory with a little bit of Dio and you've got an album in your top 10 you missed last year. Guaranteed.
Yes, they are great mix of traditional and power metal
Big Catino fan. He needs to be back on The Monster's Den soon. As always, thanks for all this amazing content Pete. I've had a blast watching your new music shows and revisiting archival Monster's Den as I've worked through some health issues over the last 6 weeks.
I like the Enforcer too. I had a ticket to see them with Destruction in London last October, but unfortunately got sick that night. 😔
You have to talk about Morgul Blade. They mix in Black metal and dungeon Synth.
Speaking of number of bands I was just on Metal Archives as I was curious to see how many bands are on there. 177819 bands. That's insane. Not too far off 200 THOUSAND bands. Think how many bands that is.
Hi Guys!!! two cool bands you should check Tower (NYC) and Midnight Priest (Portugal). cheers
Nice to see Mr Catino again.I miss seeing him with the Monsters Den.
Hi Pete, I would like you to check out the Band Freeways from Canada. They just released their second LP and sound amazing.
Greetings and keep up the good work 🤟🏻
SUMMERLANDS!!
I may be pushing boundaries here, but a couple of other new releases that could be considered NWOTHM (or closely related...remember, Demon didn't sound like Venom):
Achelous - Tower of High Sorcery (epic heavy/power metal)
Heavy Temple - Garden of Heathens (psychedelic doom metal)
Iron Curtain - Savage Dawn (speed/thrash/heavy metal)
Midnight - Hellish Expectations (black/speed metal)
Witchorious - s/t (doom metal)
Enforcer should be playing stages with Iron Maiden and Judas Priest.
LEATHER LEONE !!!
Hellfire They are on ride easy records. They have 3 albums all killer. Check them out. They do have videos on RUclips
Great, we need more shows, like this, about the new Metal bands out there, instead of going through the stuff everyone knows.
Does a band like Battle Beast qualify or are they too "power metal". They're from Finland btw.
I saw Skull Fist in a small bar in Cape Breton with like 40 other ppl a few years ago an it was brain melting!!
MOTORLORD
Would Battle Beast or Beast in Black qualify?
Probably, but more so power metal, but adjacent
Enforcer were alright until they started downtuning the songs live changing the key and fucking up the songs. Get a different singer Olof.
Anyways:
Savage Master
Eternal Champion
Sumerlands
Green Lung
Tower
I really wish we had more Crimson Glory sounding bands out there. Not enough bands go for that sound of their first two albums. As luck would have it they reformed recently sans Jon Drenning and Midnight for obvious reasons. Maybe they’ll FINALLY do a US tour lol. That would be a good tour for some of these bands to open for them.
Are you a fan of Avenged Sevenfold, Pete? Mike Portnoy was the drummer for these guys when The Rev died in 2009.
Not really.
Also from Sweden that’s good is RAM and Helvetets Port. RAM’s Forced Entry album from 2005 is by far their best album! Total Judas Priest Ram it Down/Painkiller era type heavy metal. Their subsequent albums though good have not quite been up to par with that album. Helvetets Port is definitely Gotham City influenced their logo kinda says it all in that regard. Also Portrait is worth mentioning. Good King Diamond sounding Swedish heavy metal. Even more King Diamond sounding though would be Attic from Germany who recently released their third full length. THAT is a band that should be opening for Judas Priest or Maiden or Saxon or any of the legacy heavy metal bands.
Ram and Attic are awesome.
I could never get into Night Demon unfortunately and man did I want to. Even bought both their albums when they were released but I just didn’t find it memorable. Maybe the 3rd album will be better?
Always great to see Kip Catino. 🪽
Lol, thanks.
Twisted Sister!! They Don't Give Any Respect!!
