I think by ads they meant that the mv was played as an ad on another video which can raise the view even if you only watch like 4 seonds of it and then skip it :) (But it is still an unauthentic reason)

Malina Nang I think what they mean is BP’s company pays YT to promote their video.... some videos on YT are “promoted” content because the owners pay extra, just like on Twitter some “promoted” items show up even if you do not follow and just like internet searches often have “ads” at the top of the search results when you search, cause the page owners pay extra to have them show up first in search results.... So what they are saying is if you pay YT to promote your MV then you only have to have someone watch it for a few seconds to count as a view but if you do not pay for the promotion then you have to either watch most of the video or the whole thing for it to count as a view. A lot easier to get views with only a few seconds per view than having to watch minutes worth of content. I don’t know if this is true or not but if it is it seems at least unethical for them not to have different categories clearly communicated for promoted vs not promoted videos.... but it could be considered illegal or a breach of trust if they are hiding this practice. Dunno. Just wrong though if true.

So then basically, this proves groups using their mv's as ads are forcing people to listen to their music instead of people organically liking and looking for their music. Well, it certainly gives a clear picture of which groups are watched by people that truly like the music, that seek it out, compared to muddled numbers and not knowing who is actually there watching because they want to consume the groups music. Me personally, I have only seen one particular groups mv's come up as ads. For a min there, the ad would pop up quite often and you couldn't skip it until after the ad played for so many seconds. Only then would the (skip) button enable itself.
I knew I was stanning the right company and the right groups in BTS and TXT. Stan Bighit y'all, they are a fair company, they never even used BTS name when they were promoting TXT, they let TXT stand on their own. Not one BTS member said anything about TXT until all their promotions/concept photos were released and they had their debut that they even tweeted about them.
YT just needs to come clean. Either do 1 of 2 things. Now start showing exactly how many views are ad generated when totalling the views, so people can see, or seperate into to catagories, those who use ads and those who don't. Make it even for all.
