New Olight M2R Warrior PRO: 1800 Lumens, EDC & Weapons Compatible Flashlight

- The new Olight M2R Warrior PRO is a light that I think will get some nice attention from people who want a flashlight that can be used as both an EDC or bag light AND ALSO as a light they can mount on a weapon's platform. With 1800 lumens and variety of other settings, I think this one is likely to become a favorite of the Olight fans. And p.s. - it takes a 21700 battery, not an 18650.

Thanks for the video, just received my M2R Warrior PRO, 1st impression - 10/10
Glad it helped - enjoy the light!
I love mine, and the hot spot is unbeatable even from other 3-5 k lumen lights, magnetic charging in the way to go!
Very nice package. The mag attachments are brilliant
You always give great and honest reviews. Really love your channel. Thanks again for another great review.
Thanks Ken - that's very kind of you.
I would have thought Olight would have come out with interchangeable tailcaps for this model by now, especially with the limited edition camo. How cool would that have been? A rubberized for those who love the grip AND the metallic for those who love the magnetic charging and to use with the pressure switch! Why didn't I think of this before?!
I do like my M2R Warrior Pro, however I am constantly reminded of my arthritis in my thumb when pressing the recessed end switch.
Very thorough demo video. Well done, brother. Thanks for sharing and keep up the excellent work! 👊
The only reason why I still prefer my M2R Warrior Pro over the new Warrior 3 is the tint. This flashlight has a much more pleasant neutral white color than the cool white LED on the new versions. I wish Olight would offer more options for the LED used in their flashlights! Sure, cool white is a little brighter (right?) but it appears very harsh and sharp to your eyes when used indoors. Like the lights at a hostpital. It makes me kinda dizzy... 😅 I would love a 3000K flashlight or even as low as 2300K. The same warm and cozy CCT as my bedside lamp.
Thanks for the review - I just ordered mine!
I've been a Streamlight guy for a while (mainly carry a light at work) but I don't have anything rugged for the outdoors/hiking etc. I didn't want to go cheap and I wanted rechargability.
You can use strobe light when using the weapon mount and remote. Turn the light on using the remote pressure switch located on weapon. While light is on, hold the rubber button and it will strobe. The light will now run as a strobe while turned on.
Okay, good to know! That was going to be a deal-breaker for me
When using the remote you have to keep the button depressed for the strobe? Can you let off and it maintained strobe?
Outstanding "Presentation"! I appreciate you demonstrating how to set the functions!
Iambatman2008 that was helpful
For the tail switch light level configuration: Would I be able to set one where it was half press for high level (750 lumens) and then full press for turbo? Or are those the only two configurations I can use
Hey, I had a couple of questions regarding some of the features that you didn't cover. 1) is the tail switch itself magnetic or is the charging cable the magnetic part? I own the s1 Baton by olight and it had a magnet in the butt so you could attach it to metal surfaces for a hands free operation. 2) I notice that the tail cap has 3 raised nubs surrounding the switch, does that allow for a candle style setup? Can the flashlight balance itself on those and not fall over? I have the nitecore p12 which had two raised nubs around the tail switch that allowed for that.
Thanks for any info you can provide.
Thanks for watching. The end switch is magnetic - though not strong enough to hold it on the side of my fridge, etc. The little nubs do allow it to tail stand - yes.
I'm with you, the end switch feels funky pushing it in at times. And I do like the rubber end tail switch better. Great video. I did not know I could change the tail switch settings though.
RetroDude 31 does feel funky
i actually relly like it! guess its just prefrence
I have been using my M1X Striker for almost 6 years now. Still the best all around light that I have seen and has hidden features that most people including gear reviewers haven't discovered yet. It also uses standard batteries. Recently though, I switched to an Elzetta for defense. My M1X is by far the most versatile light I have and is good for defense but Elzettas are the best for defense. The Olight M1X Striker is my favorite all around light and my Elzetta Bravo is my favorite self defense light. Surefire is good for defense to but nowhere near as robust or well made as Elzettas.
Liked the review, thank you! I'm just now barely getting into the whole EDC thing, I know, a little late. But I'm patiently waiting for the 31st to purchase the Bundle as well as the I1r eos for my keys. Got a list of "EDC" items and I'm pretty excited lol
Great - if it's a help, here's my EDC Series - ruclips.net/video/8ODgr7qUs2M/видео.html
@HOSTILE MGTOW yeah, not taking a chance lol
@@EverydayTacticalVids thank you! I'll check it out after work.
Does it get super hot like the warrior x pro... dont like how hot it gets.
I think that back switch not clicking in might be that you are holding it for too long. I think it works like that: if you hold it it will turn of when you release it if you just click it it will stay lit but you have to get the timing right... It works like that for both back switch options.
Wow finally a great review! Thanks! Did I miss it or does it come in NW OR CW? Do you have a preference?
Wanted to get a m1x but I can’t find out where to purchase it. Also, can’t find wowtac bss v3 either ? I’m trying to find a compact 1000 lumen flashlight with a good strike bezel.
Great video. In-depth and highlights all the new features. Thanks heaps - just subscribed.
Thanks Connor - glad it was a help.
nice light the only thing I dont like is the side switch that turn the light on while in your pocket
I have the original M2R. I find the magnet is quite weak. It will not hold the light to anything really. Is the magnet on this new light strong enough to hold the light to objects for hands free use?
This one's magnet is weak as well. They are really made this way to attach items to (like the weapon pressure switches), less to attaching the light to something else like a hood of a car, etc.
Yeah i understand what you mean but for them to produce a tail switch that magnetically charges i can see how they had ti change the design to accommodate their charger whilst working as a switch. The R50 frame has the strongest magnet of any i have used or held from them, if you want a dedicated work light that will stick to surfaces horizontally as well as upside down, that’s the light for you friend. 😎
@@eldrl001 Yeah my thought is if you are adding a magnet, then make it able to do what it needs to do on multiple levels.
Two big features that differentiate the M2 pro from the M2T are the fact that the Pro can sit up straight on a flat surface, and can also be suspended from any metal surface with the magnetic end. Both of those options allow for hands free use.
Not really. It s a bit to heavy to magetically sustain itself.
I have a klarus 360x1. It's 1800 lumens on turbo, has more burn time at turbo and still uses 18650 batteries. Planning on picking up one of these in green on the 13th. Will be interested to get them side by side.
Thanks for the video. Since you had them both at hand I would have liked to see at least a quick beam shot comparison between the M2T and the M2R Pro. A comment a bit more descriptive on the LED would have been welcome, it appears to look a bit like the Baton Pro although obviously a very different pattern. It may just be that no one knows exactly with respect to the LED.
On the olight channel there's beam shots of the new m2r pro and the old m2r. Search olight in RUclips and there channel should show up
@@subaruforester5062 Thanks.
Great video thanks.
When did this flashlight come out? What's the best way to buy it on sale?
I like it because it looks sharp throw beam and does anyone know if it might take other manufacturers batteries ?
Dude, You flew through this video. Your obviously not an olight fan. This light is way better than you led to believe!!
I just want to know the light you prefer over this light, with the same output! I'd definitely look into it.
My call would be the Fenix PD36R. Even with the step down its turbo run time beats pretty much every one else on the market.
Heider AGS Ultra Power
Damn you! I'm sold...
The dome is a plastic or glass?
Is the beam pattern pretty accurate to the video in real life? Looks pretty spotty with little side spill.
Definitely THE video to go to when you first get your M2R Pro: Well done.. Thanks!
Thank you Charles. Really appreciate that.
EverydayTacticalVids He is absolutely correct. I hate reading manuals, lol. Thanks a ton! I’m also unsure about how I feel about no momentary on...but I love the light!
Actually...I just figured out how how to do momentary, lol. Not as intuitive as some of my other lights.
I have a tan m2r i love it but the last time i took it fishing the light started activating from the tailcap. So not truly waterproof.
Some batteries weigh more than others which is why a lot of lights don't include the battery weight. Sometimes the batteries vary significantly in weight.
Over all a decent review. But as a tactical light, which this is. You do not want to click it to stay on. So it being difficult to get to click to stay on is a good thing. It's best used as a tactical light so you have very good control of when it's on and off and you do not accidentally ad light discharge and it stay on.
Is it capable of locking a mid modes ?
Hi, is the tint more on the warm or cool white?
I just got mine in orange colored and love it...it’s more tactical that EDC in my humble opinion...
They need a more specific pressure switch for the pro
Great light but can anyone tell me if when the tail switch is pressed (when in strobe mode) the strobe is supposed to stay on (like when it's on turbo mode it stays on) or the switch has to be held down for it to continue? I would have thought it would be better to just press it once for it to continue to strobe or is mine faulty where I have to hold it down.
viewlesscheese5 that’s just the design. It doesn’t stay on. I don’t like it. I keep mine default settings. Settings two should be momentary on light press, hard press turbo, double click strobe. IMO.
Just got this recently and I realised the magnet on the tail end had some issues holding it (on vertical surfaces) as the weight is rather hefty compared to a smaller light such as the baton. So do watch out when attaching it to a vertical metal surface thinking it will hold in place like the other magnet ended pieces.
Yeah - from what I hear that magnet is just for charging. If they'd made it a bit stronger it could be used to hold it on vertical surfaces and also to charge it.
There's a lot of talks about the magnetic switch attracting sand, making the light turn on by itself. True?
Never happened to me yet
@@EverydayTacticalVids the tail is metal? But not magnetic?
It is magnetic but I’ve never had that issue in particular
@@EverydayTacticalVids thank you for answering my questions. 🙂 More power to your channel. God bless
Dropped mine in the dirt picked up ferrite dust removed it with small neo magnet pellet wrapped in paper towel just rubbed it off clean no other issues except it doesn't charge sent it back they sent me a new one right out the box had the same issue it's the gun metal gray that went in sale in july
How do you think this compares to the Fenix PD35R ?
Simliar - as an EDC alone, I'd take the Fenix. As a EDC and for weapons, I'd take the Warrior.
What output is "medium" when you half press the tail switch? I can't find the answer to this. Thanks!
60 lumens
what lumen setting does it default to with the pressure switch?
Ordered the camo version bundle
James Moorer
I did likewise, received mine a few days ago and am impressed so far. 👍
can u do a comparison to the original m2r warrior?
I love the look and quality, love the design of the front bezel but still would never buy one. To me the runtime on high mode at 1800 is a joke on the Warrior Pro. Several Nitecore models have 30 mins at 1800 and their new E4K has 4400 lumens for 30 mins. For the premium price of Olights they should deliver premium results and they just don’t come close. I don’t buy a flashlight for how it looks I buy it for maximum performance. Olight really needs to raise their game and match the performance to their build quality and price. Have just ordered a Nitecore MH12 V2, max runtime 3hrs 45 mins @ 1200, each to their own but to me it’s a compromise between brightness and runtimes. Looking forward to it! In any case thanks for the review, it helps the rest of us compare brands and models..
Still better than contemporary SF
Olight does not specify the LED in this flashlight. Can anyone confirm the specific LED in M2R Warrior Pro??

This presentation reminds me of the older instructions on Japanese products
WM WM ???
@@EverydayTacticalVids You may be too young to remember the very lengthy and most confusing instructions that were attached to the Japanese products available in the USA, just after the war, and your presentation, I am sorry to say was just like that very lengthy and confusing but that is only my opinion. Happy St.Patric's Day.
Looks very nice flashlight. The reason why I don't own the olights is because at turbo 1800L it' only lasts about 4 mins where the powertac M5 at 1300L lasts for 2.5 hours. Wowtac A1S at 1150 lasts 3 hours at turbo. It's a pitty that only 4 mins it drops alot m used to these powertac and wowtac flashlights and both combined together side by side wow that really is bright. Olight flashlights are very nice but turbo only lasts few mins.
The datasheet says "turbo mode: max. output 1300 lm for 2.6h". It does not say "constant output of 1300 lm for 2.6h". You never know, what this candle does after f.e. 3 minutes until you´ve checked. Don´t believe blindly what you want to believe.
my rear tail switch doesn’t work at all, any troubleshooting ideas?
Replace
Yes, get a Surefire.
Great light
Is the Olight Baton Pro (2000 lm, 18650 / 3500 mAh battery, 90 €) better than the Olight M2R Pro Warrior (1800 lm, 21700 / 5000 mAh battery, 110 €)?
M2r better :)
nice review. i only disagree about the belt, its crappy. i own it from my seeker 2 pro. its almost easy to open and hard to close it.

Warriors come out and play
I need an immediate 1800 lumen or immediate strobe
none of these steps to get there
Yes they do. A deep press of the tail cap gives instant 1800 lumens. You can also set the tail cap to give instant strobe.

I have some of Olights older models from 5 years or so ago. I used to enjoy the brand because they were priced well, and performed great. Lately, I think Olight is beginning to price themselves out. In reality, I don't think you're getting more for your money. If they started potting the electronics, STOPPED USING PROPRIETARY BATTERIES (i.e modified 18650's) which they didn't use to do, then maybe I'd return to buying them.
You can use regular batteries in these as well. I have the regular M2R and use the 30Q battery in it so I also have a spare battery for my vape.
