Tip: Essential Oils are very concentrated so you should always dilute them in carrier oils or water and not directly apply them to the skin/scalp as it can be really irritating and even cause burns. Other than that, TFS :)
Grace Zachary Rosemary is gentle. Not all essential oils need to be diluted (the caustic ones, yes, but lavender and many others don't need to be used with a carrier oil). Rosemary is great for the skin and I know because my wife is in natural wellness and she has replaced our home and chemicals with Young Living Essential Oil. Her bald solution is rosemary, peppermint and Copaiba mixed with olive, coconut or shea butter and it works. Her clients rave about her massages and how they help heal their skin or painful joints. But all oils are not 100% natural. The FDA only requires you to have 5% of an oil and you can legally label it as 100% natural. Ain't that messed up? Most store oils use other solvents in their oils to stretch them. Young Living can be used internally and that's when you know an oil is healthy.
Do you think this will work on 4c hair? I'm white but my little sister (adopted) isn't. I want to help her do her hair so I've been researching the best ways to care for natural hair.
cheyenne howell hi. I'm a 4c hair type with waist length hair. I hope this works for your lol sis. But there r more fun activities n recipes to find that work for her here in the u tube world. Good luck n have fun !!
4c hair here this will work but this needs to be done nightly for me. Make sure she wraps her hair with a satin scarf at night they sell them at Wal-Mart to avoid tangling and breakage while she sleeps. She also may need more than 4 sections if her hair is shorter.
Hey guys!! Moisture is the way to go when it comes to natural hair! This routine is a excellent way to moisturize the hair when your hair is dry and needs to make it to the next wash day! Hope you all enjoy! 😊
When I started focusing more on moisturizing my hair, it stop breaking off as much or having split ends and fairy knots. It's actually retaining length. My hair grew 2.5 inches in 6 months which had never happened before. Yay moisture
Kinky Koily Kayla good for you❤️😅I actually have may be a week now since started moisturizing like this..then putting shower cap❤️so may be it will help me with my breakage too...coz i have so much breakage 🤔nice to here that it have been working on ur hair...❤️
tiliya Diaz Hair normally retains 1/2" a month so about 6" a year which means I'm good on it not breaking off and retaining length. If my hair continues to grow the way it's going I'll have 5" of growth by the end of the year. And being that my hair was growing maybe an inch a year (if that) bc of breakage, I'm happy and satisfied with 2.5" in 6 months
I love coconut oil too....i have a tip, use a creamed coconut block instead of regular coconut oil and cut a chunk of it and put it in your deep conditioner
This is called the greenhouse effect, and yes girl it's bomb. I've been using allllll of your wash day and moisture regime routines on me and my daughter hair and I've seen such a difference in less than 2 months. Thanks so much keep the videos coming.
Jaazaneco H. Is there a way to do this if you are trying to avoid hygral-fatigue? Because dont you get that by keeping your hair wet and wearing a cap when you go to sleep?
Lauryn Hill I do this slightly different from shawnta... I use steam with m q redew steamer and then apply all my water based products. So when I get done my hair isn't wet or even damp. When I wake up in the morning my hair is a little misty or steamy but it dries in about 2 minutes. And I alternate my routine every other week so that my hair doesn't get used to it. Hope it makes sense
💓 i adore you and your videos, our hair is quite similar so looking at your videos helps me so much. i'm 16 and i've been natural for 3 years, and taking care of my hair is becoming easier and easier as i take better care of it. thank you for the inspiration 💓
I love you & your daughters hair ! I've been using some of your tips and my hair actually has grown and it hasn't grown in years thank you so much you've helped me out alot 😊😊❤❤
I just follow her wash routines and videos to help growth . and I take better care of my hair I use to wash 3 times a week now I do it once a week that helps too
You changed my whole hair game. My hair had been so dry, brittle, undefined, and whack since having a baby 9 months ago. This treatment brought my curls back, kept my hair stretched, and gave me the motivation to keep at it with my hair. Thank you!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this amazing moisturizer retaining routine. Ever since using this routine to twist my hair after washing it, my hair retains moisture for 5+ days without having to re-moisturize! It's been such a game changer!
Tiffany Nicole deep conditioning is important too. when I started deep conditioning with heat my hair became more manageable or curls were more define.
Jade Williams thanks jade. Gives me hope . I just get frustrated . I do have a hooded dryer but I haven't used it religiously . I should start doing that every time I deep condition. The heat will probably penetrate the conditioner better
That intro... super cute!!!:) “My momma was hating!!! You’re a lucky momma to have a girl with such awesome personality. They say castor oil it’s sealing but it’s moisturizing my hair!
Thank you 😊 i loved the intro with ur angel ❤️❤️😅ur hair is soo healthy and so shine..🤗🤗am glad that am doing the same moisturizing routine as u did here❤️❤️❤️😅
The extra wetness comes from your pores and sweat you have a plastic shower cap with a turban which doesn't allow you scalp to breathe. Plus it was on over night.
Girl! You're over there looking like Rapunzel! Okay so what I've been doing lately (maybe the past month) is creating your hair growth oil and put it in a spray bottle. I've added some extra essential oils (rose hip is one) and I love it! I try to do it nightly followed by a massage. I need to start implementing the greenhouse method (applying a shower cap/bag) to aid in the moisture retention. I think that's the only thing I'm missing.
Oh wow you and daughter's hair is beau-ti-ful. I have to try the rosemary never tried it b4. Hopefully it will work in my hair. I have to also try the overnight leave condition. thank u for your video .
I got lazy, irresponsible, what have you--by not replacing my scarf when it fell off at night, and sometimes not even bothering with one. It's so crazy and so simple that once I got into a moisurizing, detangling, and deep conditioning routine, how soon and how well my hair is responding. Its like "Dude, I just wanted some regular tlc!" You get into a healthy routine, see results, and once your disciplined, you can expand it. But just GET STARTED, and next comes inspiration. 💙
Thanks for this ^_^ i've started using peppermint and rosemary oil for the past few weeks, but I didn't have a good routine down yet, so hopefully i can use this ^_^
Lovely Poetry I've already been using it for about 3 months now and it's no problem at all. I put a few drops into my shampoo or oil treatment. Peppermint is one of those oils that you need to mix/dilute, so maybe it's where you use it concentrated? I never put it directly onto my hair or scalp, and never alone.
I’m going to try this starting next week cause I need to go back to moisturizing my hair again in between wash days! I just subscribed cause your videos are helpful!
this similar to the greenhouse method, i tried this before, my hair didn't like it, to much moisture. had to go in with protein products. to create some balance. works good on your hair. like your videos.
The hair looks great next day, but be prepared for being sick, when you wake up with your hair this wet. If I put a cap in my hair to bed, #1. I will never fall asleep #2. I will be sick the next day #3. If this is a routine for me, I will definitely catch a head cold, and these do not go away easily. I prefer to do this on my day off which I usually do, I get up in the morning, I treat my hair like you did, put in my cap, and go about my chors. After I'm done, I shower and style my hair which gives enough time for my hair to completely dry before I go to bed. NOTE : everyone is different, it may not do anything to you, and many other people. But for me, I will definitely be sick, and I'm sure some people will say they are like me. But that doesn't mean you cannot do what works for you.
This makes me think of the 80s when I had a care free Curl and a leisure curl and back then I could not understand why my hair was growing so fast now i realize it was all that moisture.
I need natural for 6 years and my hair just will not grow. My husband wants me to get a perm bc he thinks the natural hair just isn't working for me. I'm going to try to do better with my hair and see if it will start to grow FINALLY! 🙁
Thank u i will try this wen i take these faux locs out ..i have low porosity hair in the middle of my hair and it stays dry even after I wash it moisturizes and everything you gets back drive so I will try this and I hopefully it worked for me thank you for this video appreciate
Is it that the water left over night in the cap becomes distilled and that's why the hair is so wet and soft? I remember when my hair was really short and I would do the ghm on my hair overnight and it would be way wetter than it was when I went to bed...It grew really fast too....It's longer now maybe I should try it again with twists...Just thinkin' out loud!
Yeah...my hair is not the same texture and this won't work for me. My hair loves coconut oil. I use it to detangle my hair before I blow dry and press.
I'm a mixed girl with almost your type of hair but kinda looser. I was always told that it was frizzy and I should straighten it at my school which was 93% European/White, but then I noticed that my hair was almost damaged so I stopped using heat and grew out my natural hair. Ever since I cut my natural hair to my shoulders I always took care of it for the past five years and now I'm in 9th grade with my hair reaching to my knees :p *Hair flips at the people who talked about my hair*
Beautiful hair.. Important note though for you and baby girl. Essential oils are to be diluted w carrier oils before skin contact. Essential oils can be dangerous used alone, safety 1st😁
I really enjoyed your video. I just have one question. How do i get my hair to stop shedding so much?. I noticed in your video ur hair wasn't shedding at all. Plz help thank u!😊
Hey Beautiful, Thanks for sharing. Quick question, how long does this treatment last? My hair loves moisture, but I'm finding myself moisturizing literally daily. Seeking a method to give me a break... at for a day. Lol! Thanks in advance for your help. With Love, LW!
Lauryn Hill thanks for the advice I've been using wild growth oil and it been helping a little but since its really for natural hair I need to find something else
Aishai Henrianna Relaxed hair needs moisture too & the oils can help out too. Make sure you oil your ends often cuz relaxed hair can break & lose length if the ends aren't protected.
velma smith Jamaican black castor oil I feel is the best. Massage your scalp with this every night before bed and then use a scalp massager. Apply your satin bonnet. Works a treat 😊
Melody Maker that's not true with all essential oils rosemary is usually recommended directly on the skin for fading scars and stretch marks and has never irritated me. Peppermint oil different story though.
Please help. My hair has always been my pride and joy. I figured since it is pretty damn healthy, it could deal with some bleach damage. And I figured the master stylist who did all the color-corrections would know how much would be too much. I was wrong, and now I want to burst into tears every time I look at my hair or touch it. I just don't know what to do. my hair has also NEVER been shorter than this and it breaks and falls out. What should i do to regrow hair?
Amanda Page Hi Amanda. So sorry about your hair problem. There are a number of things that I do to help strengthen my hair and retain length: I wash my hair every 2 days (depending on what I'm doing) with water only. When I do use shampoo I use a sulphate and paraben free shampoo once a month. I always use a leave in conditioner Moisturise it EVERY DAY without fail. Water is your friend! I mist my hair with water containing several oils: olive, coconut, argan, castor, lavender, tea tree, vitamin E, and apricot kernel oils every other day, and with just water every day Massage your scalp with black castor oil every night Also, buy a scalp massager too and use this after applying the oil Always wear a satin bonnet in bed Wear protective styles if you can and try not to manipulate your hair too much with combs Take biotin tablets as well. They're amazing! You'll notice the difference in your hair and nails in around 2 weeks Drink lots of water too It will take a little time, but trust me your hair will love you for it. Good luck Amanda x
Can I have some advice? I'm 15 so I don't know much about hair. My hair type is similar to yours, but I don't know what shampoo and Conditioner to get to get it healthy again and to grow it. Also I want to do this, but I go to school. Could I do this on wash days? How often should I wash my hair and do this?
How long did it take for you hair to get this length? . . . It took me 3 years for mine to get shoulder length, then I cut it bald. Now I'm growing it back again. It's been 4 months(16weeks),it's still to short for protective styling but, hopefully on the 6Month mark it will be long enough.
I had a bunch of breakage it was like my best friend until I started using a homemade mix of three conditioner with a little bit of castor oil and oil and it made my hair super soft and stop the breaking but I want to know if putting the conditioner directly on you're hair without washing it out is bad.
RhodainChristJesus If you wash every week or so you won't have a lot of buildup. Sulfate shampoos are harsh but clean out everything in your hair if you must. Just be wary of how much product you are putting on in the 1st place.
doThatGWalk I do wash every week but I use gel almost every day and that by its self gives me buildup... I can't moisturize and seal twice basically. Even tho my hair gets dry before the end of the week.... Sigh. I guess I should try being less heavy handed
RhodainChristJesus Woah, gel everyday? That's a lot of gel. I have only used gel once per wash & I won't gel anymore. Every natural is different but some refresh in the middle of the week with a spritzer leave in or light application. Gel will not give your hair moisture. It sounds like you need a leave in conditoner. Leave ins provide your hair with the moisture that it needs outside of a wash & can last a while. Next time you gel, try spraying your hair with some water to get it damp, them apply a leave in then the gel & try that. Some seal in moisture with oil too, it just depends on what you want & your hair. Make sure you have a good deep conditioner too, that will help give your hair the mositure that it needs until next wash if you do it once a week. Let me know if you have anymore questions.
FYI: I just updated my description box with links to all the products used in my video for you all :)

Anybody remember the greenhouse method that was going around on RUclips? That's what this reminds me of. But I haaaave to try this !
When I started focusing more on moisturizing my hair, it stop breaking off as much or having split ends and fairy knots. It's actually retaining length. My hair grew 2.5 inches in 6 months which had never happened before. Yay moisture

This castor oil is sooooo dark😩 i'm ordering two!!
I loved that product camille rose can't believe it's so so moisturising !
Your hair is gorgeous. Can you do a video on how you obtain your heatless blowout? Thanks for the video
It's really important to mix essential oils with a carrier oil before using them.
"look at my little rullfles, I did them Myself, my mom was HA-TING" SHE IS TOO GROWN!! lol
I wish my hair was that easier to maintain . I have 4c hair and Idc what anyone says it's difficult and difficult to style
Tiffany Nicole just keep moisturizing it. It helps with all types of natural hair. You will be surprised with yours.
Real Ting thanks !

Nεяdii Lîonεss true
That’s what i do. Idc really about how my edges look
Her routines are amazing
The extra wetness comes from your pores and sweat you have a plastic shower cap with a turban which doesn't allow you scalp to breathe. Plus it was on over night.

Hairs grown beautifully!
Thanks for this ^_^ i've started using peppermint and rosemary oil for the past few weeks, but I didn't have a good routine down yet, so hopefully i can use this ^_^
Nova Nocturne Don't let these bloggers an youtubers fool you with the peppermint oil, that shit will burn your scalp and strip your strands.
Nova Nocturne It's not the peppermint thats doing anything.
Lovely Poetry what do you mean?
Lovely Poetry you mean it doesn't so anything?
This is called the "green house effect". It really works for real.... great video!
Love the video 💖 I will be trying this tonight because I haven't had a good twist out since late spring when the weather got warm.
I need to try this method! I just don't like waking up with wet hair lol. This reminds me of the green house method that used to be popular on YT
I’m going to try this starting next week cause I need to go back to moisturizing my hair again in between wash days! I just subscribed cause your videos are helpful!
New subbie! I love anything new for my natural hair. Especially, when it comes to locking in moisture. Thanks for the video 😊
Super easy to follow. Trying this weekend! Thanks for this mama!
thought you 2 were sisters!! you're hair looks great!! thanks for the info!!

Girl your hair is growing
The hair looks great next day, but be prepared for being sick, when you wake up with your hair this wet. If I put a cap in my hair to bed,
#1. I will never fall asleep
#2. I will be sick the next day

Your hair is so beautiful
Your daughter cares so much for you and great info 👍👍🌷
Could I use this as an everyday moisture method or is that too much?
I have an issue and I need some help with my hair I wanted to ask that how can u grow ur virgin hair.
you should make your hair damp first so the moisture can penetrate the hair cuticle/shaft :)
How long have you been growing your hair out, Shawntas?
How long did you leave plastic cap on your hair for? I dont think you mentioned? Thanks.
Beautiful hair.. Important note though for you and baby girl. Essential oils are to be diluted w carrier oils before skin contact. Essential oils can be dangerous used alone, safety 1st😁
Wow! Look at all that hair! You are hair goals lol thanks for the tips.
Where do I get her spray bottle from? The ones I bought don't work.
Where did you get the elephlant blanket??!! I love the video but I can't focus!!!
I love you and noriya!!!!
I really enjoyed your video. I just have one question. How do i get my hair to stop shedding so much?. I noticed in your video ur hair wasn't shedding at all. Plz help thank u!😊
Hey Beautiful,
Thanks for sharing. Quick question, how long does this treatment last? My hair loves moisture, but I'm finding myself moisturizing literally daily. Seeking a method to give me a break... at for a day. Lol! Thanks in advance for your help.
With Love,
LW!

Rosemary works for hair growth because it a DHT blocker
sch cbh girl thank u!! I didn't know that ..
sch cbh what does that mean
love this, I´m going to try this and thanks for this Video!
So you didn't have to seal after you took off the plastic cap? I have low porosity hair but feel like my hair would dry out lol
Do you know anything about growing relaxed hair
Aishai Henrianna this routine should work, any of her videos on growth should work:)
Aishai Henrianna Just maybe use a light oil so that it doesn't weigh down your hair
Thank you 🙏 so much for sharing this wonderful teaching information video
this is the green house method?
I love your hair. My hair grows extremely slow it may have grown 2 inches in a year. Will you recommend something for soft thin hair?
velma smith
Jamaican black castor oil I feel is the best. Massage your scalp with this every night before bed and then use a scalp massager. Apply your satin bonnet. Works a treat 😊
Noriya is too cute, will she be incorporating her own videos for the younger utube edition?
Why drip the rosemary onto you fingertips as opposed to your spray bottle? I thought those oils were too potent to apply directly to skin?
+CoilyCurls79 I've never had a problem with it but everyone's different......
Essential oils are far to concentrated to put on the scalp without a carrier oil, but some may be ok with this
Melody Maker that’s not true with all essential oils
Melody Maker that's not true with all essential oils rosemary is usually recommended directly on the skin for fading scars and stretch marks and has never irritated me. Peppermint oil different story though.
So you do this in between wash days?? Gotcha! Now I know what i was missing in my regimen
Good vid! We love naturals !! :)

Amanda Page
Hi Amanda. So sorry about your hair problem. There are a number of things that I do to help strengthen my hair and retain length:
I wash my hair every 2 days (depending on what I'm doing) with water only. When I do use shampoo I use a sulphate and paraben free shampoo once a month. I always use a leave in conditioner
Moisturise it EVERY DAY without fail. Water is your friend!
I mist my hair with water containing several oils: olive, coconut, argan, castor, lavender, tea tree, vitamin E, and apricot kernel oils every other day, and with just water every day
Massage your scalp with black castor oil every night
Also, buy a scalp massager too and use this after applying the oil
Always wear a satin bonnet in bed
Wear protective styles if you can and try not to manipulate your hair too much with combs
Take biotin tablets as well. They're amazing! You'll notice the difference in your hair and nails in around 2 weeks
Drink lots of water too
It will take a little time, but trust me your hair will love you for it.
Good luck Amanda x
Noriya yeah love her and you as well do you dye your hair?
Can I have some advice? I'm 15 so I don't know much about hair. My hair type is similar to yours, but I don't know what shampoo and Conditioner to get to get it healthy again and to grow it. Also I want to do this, but I go to school. Could I do this on wash days? How often should I wash my hair and do this?
When my hair gets long enough to look over at it--YES!😳😳😌
My hair is as dry as the desert. What can I use (initially) to get a lot of moisture in my hair? Thanks!
Thanks for sharing! Also - I love how you pronounce oil = "oyull". So cute!! :-D
Karleah Sakpeider No, alot of naturals use conditioners as leave ins. If it works then keep it up.

How do you avoid buildup tho?
RhodainChristJesus If you wash every week or so you won't have a lot of buildup. Sulfate shampoos are harsh but clean out everything in your hair if you must. Just be wary of how much product you are putting on in the 1st place.

I do wash every week but I use gel almost every day and that by its self gives me buildup...
