    Absolutely LOVE this setup. This is exactly what I would like to get in the future. LOVE this video. Thank you for sharing.
    The big question though is….. how much did you tell your wife it costs? 😅😅😅 (lol I won’t tell her. None of us with a speaker addiction ever will lol)

    Wow, you keep a lot better records than I do. I have a rough estimate in my head as to how deep I'm into mine but I really have no idea how far off that number could be. I just know that trips to Home Depot alone for just misc junk must add up to a couple thousand or more, probably a lot more when you include all the MDF for building the speakers etc.
    Fortunately I already had most of the Dayton AMT-Pro4 Air Motion Transformers that I had bought before the price basically doubled. The same with the 5" Reference drivers, otherwise the LCR would be about $12K in drivers alone. My theater was originally planned for a completely different property so I bought those drivers around 2017 or 2018 and then they ended up in storage. It's a good thing though, I only paid about half what they are today back then. For some reason Parts Express wholesale prices went up a lot more that retail prices, I use to get Dayton products for about half retail but now there isn't much difference at all.
    I'm also not very efficient, I start a plan, decide it sucks, take it down, start over... Probably going to be quite a bit in just basically waste. Also, for the side speakers as an example, I needed 72 mid-bass drivers so I order 100. Part of that is price breaks, part is me probably being too much of a hoarder when it comes to speaker drivers. Good news is some of those may end up in rear speakers.
    So I probably really don't want to know what the total is so far, I'm pretty sure it's well over the budget I had in mind at the start. Now I'm looking at possibly adding a MadVR but there is no rush, I need to finish building the darn thing first. Once I get it all up and running and get more of the cosmetic and room acoustic stuff done I'm going to probably go ahead on the MadVR.
    Of course it's not just financial cost, it's also been far more work than expected. I feel like I've become a slave to my own creation! I just hope it's worth it in the end.

      It'll be worth it in the end! I've been watching your updates as well, and it's coming along very nicely! I know I missed some stuff as well, and like I said it was hard to keep track when also finishing the basement at the same time. A lot of the costs overlapped, so I basically left those out of the costs of the theater stuff to try to seperate it a little better. Keep up the good work! You'll get there and it'll be amazing. 😁👍

    Your custom screen is giving me inspiration to build my own! A few questions: (1) what is the throw distance in your room? (2) Do you have the build plans for the screen?

    • @TyEichele
      @TyEichele  2 года назад

      Awesome! You can totally do it! My throw distance is a few inches over 14 feet currently. That's about all the room I have. The build plans are in the video at the beginning - maybe you can take a screenshot? Good luck with your build! Just take your time and measure several times 🙂👍

    You have a beautiful display. I'm sure you're setup sounds pretty good at medium to high volumes but what about low volumes or better still no volume (quiet scenes) therefore I would have to say your speaker cables are the Weakest Link.
    Even though one should always prioritise the best speaker cables for the most important speakers.. in my experience it's actually the cables of length that needs to have the better shielding. One needs to remember unshielded cables act as antennas for attracting RFI and the longer the cable the better the antenna!
    One can actually put this to the test. Choose a movie with lots of quiet scenes, something like the quiet place 2 (no pun intended) after 10-15 minutes of listening, turn the system off. Disconnect the height channels from the back of the AVR, give it 5-10 minutes and then repeat the process. One should be able to hear how much the noise floor has come down.

      Very good information! I remember looking at your setup from some of your earlier posts when you mentioned this as well. I might have to try this for fun sometime and see if I notice the difference! I have both of the Quiet Place movies too, but haven't watched them on my system yet. Sounds like a good opportunity to me!

      I do apologise, first time round I never viewed this video in it's entirety! After viewing the rest of your components, if I was you I wouldn't bother taking onboard my advice. You got far too many components which could be causing the same issue! Besides if you're not hearing any problems why go looking.
      You've actually done a very good build. You certainly got the best out of your budget and I love your rear wall colour choice. That's the wall colour I was actually looking for. I've resubscribed and given you a thumbs up, mainly because you come across as a very nice person. (Wish I had your talent for making quality videos) 😁

    With a perforated screen like that I have been told I need 12" of space between the screen and speaker or you will get comb filtering. I won't have 2" to work with and want a ALR screen as well as AT. Seems you have yours pretty close. Do you notice any bad audio? Would only be my center channel behind the screen so I wouldn't think it would make a noticeable difference like having the L and R behind it that close as well.

    • @TyEichele
      @TyEichele  2 месяца назад +1

      I haven't noticed anything having my center behind the screen. I have never heard that that happens either, but I haven't researched it. I would think even if it effected the sound a little bit, it would still be better than having your center channel under the screen exposed, way below ear level. You'll be happy you put it behind the screen, I say go for it.

    Got to get the seats off the back walls, you'll get a much better sound stage

    • @TyEichele
      @TyEichele  2 года назад +2

      Thanks! I'm aware of that fact, but they aren't right on the back wall either - there's room for the subwoofers behind the seats as you can see. I didn't want them sticking further out into the room either so it's a compromise that I had to make to maintain the open rec room area of the basement. Guess I could slide them out further when watching and slide them back afterwards, but that's too much work 😂

    Your room look awesome. No one can beat the price. Very well thought. What amp did you use for your bass shaker? How did you connect bass shaker and amp to your receiver?

      Thank you very much! The shaker amp is an old Onkyo 5.1 receiver. Here is my video I did on the shaker install and details:

    What is the room size and how far are your seats from the screen?

    • @TyEichele
      @TyEichele  Год назад

      Room size is roughly 15 x 16 or very close to that anyways. I believe the seats and where your head is in the seats is approx 13 feet away from the screen.
