You're such a great teacher! For those that aren't accustomed to playing these or this style (maybe your focus is prog metal or something) stuff like this is well worth adding to your repertoire. It's actually great fun to throw stuff like this in at the end of a piece of music that is a completely different genre. Musical tomfoolery and shenanigans hehe. But not to mock the blues (I would never), this stuff is enjoyable in its own right and stands on its own too.
Thanks for a great informative lesson. I once saw Duke Robillard do an extended 12-bar blues with a different turnaround every time through. Very impressive.
Love a good blues turnaround.. Who doesn't . Thanks again for the lessons Dave. Once you've been playing a little while it's essential to start to learn the theory, to understand what you're playing and why.. Many thanks again, eagerly awaiting the next lesson. 🎸🇬🇧👍
I want to reiterate what several have already said. Yes please to a Johnny Winter study of some kind. I got his Caught Live album when I was 17 and listened to it so many times. Over the years I lost track of it, and him, somehow. Recently discovered it again when I heard the Sweet Papa John (unbelievable performance) cut on the radio. It made me realize that all these years when I am running blues licks in my head, or trying to run them on the guitar, it is him I am hearing. His playing IS blues guitar to me. Second: thank you for teaching on a higher level and giving us credit for having guitar, and some theory, knowledge. I realize there needs to be instruction for beginners, and those that don't want to be bothered with actually understanding scale and chord structure. But some of us are hungry for it. You have a great instructional style.
Dave thank you again. Your knowledge, stories, etc are very much enjoyed . I'll second the suggestion for Johnny winter... The Johnny winter and live album with Rick Derringer was a milestone. Talk about two guitarist kicking butt ...
Great lesson & perfect time for 3 from Johnny Winter. In his prime his technique was great navigating pentatonics. Tony Macalpine mentions Winter often as an early influence. Thanks 🍺’ski.
This was great fun, I’ll be learning a few of these. As a blues harmonica player too, I love collecting turnarounds for both instruments 😃 Thanks, mate! 👍👍
Pretty cool! One thing I love about your vids - I feel a real connection, like you are sitting across from me. Pretty much in awe of your skills. Thanks!
I think part of it is he wants to educate people and there is no ego in it. its here's what I have to teach you and then he lays it out in easy to understand chunks. he's a damn good educator.
Loved it! To spice things up, Johnny Winter would sometimes play a single f# note instead of b7 in an e blues - sounds weird but cool. Any chance of a Johnny Winter 3 for all?
I've just been sat down watching this vid again and I've come to the conclusion I much prefer an 5+ to a 5(b7). also picking through the first two notes of the 5+, picking the last 2 then playing an up strum on the 5 b7 sounds really nice.
I don't normally turn the sound on on my tablet or watch vids on in while in bed. so i'm in bed last night checking emails. see you've posted a new vid. seen the subject matter and I JUST had to play it. a very good lesson. think you could do another on those other fancy turnarounds where they 6th is uses. I tried to remember how to do one this morning and for the life of me cannot.
Great lesson Dave. Love the turnarounds. Got me thinking of old blues like Robert Johnson. Would love your take/lessons on some of those old classic blues players.
My fav E turnaround is the one where you descend on the higher strings but ascend on the lower strings, the up and down turnaround I think some call it.
I love the variety of ideas & lessons! Would love to see a David Gilmour licks lesson, with those 70's over bends. Elliot Easton from The Cars was another really unique player. Neil Giraldo from Benatar's band....
Hi again ! Just here to ask you if you will make a video on the way V-Amp Pro rack unit sounds ? btw I see it to the right way behind the laptop built in monitor ! And i almost bought a Vampire like yours but this virus Pandemia came and all went down the drain ! Thanks again !
cool lesson, thanks. I like the way you teach by telling us what notes or chords you are playing. this is clearly not intended for beginners but so many advanced teachers teach like their students just picked up a guitar. if you don't know what you are playing or why, then what are you really doing? thanks again.
Yo_Onityan does a note for note perfect crossroads guitar Steve Vai check it out!!!... The video is called Steve Vai crossroads guitar battle shreds cover....
This channel is pure treasure. And I just love the pace, when ideas are presented without the boring 'put your pinkie on the seventh fret' stuff.
This is handsss downnnn the best turnaround lesson I've seen out of alllll the youtube guitarists. THANK YOU

Thanks, David! My Blues Knowledge is filled with holes, so a lesson like this is PERFECT for me!

Digging your vibe man - very chill dude!

Great lesson. Looking forward to more of this.

Man your channel is awesome! Is there any way we could get a Glen Buxton (original Alice Cooper) lesson? Keep up the killer work!
Great lesson, thanks. For some of us it is easier if you use a guitar with dots on the fingerboard.
Cheers.
Thanks!! That was fun.

David, I'd love to learn anything about or by Count Basie or Duke Ellington!!!!! Adapting their music to guitar and their chord spproaches!
Great fun!
Gracias Maestro!
Oh this is really nice.
Doesn’t have to be hard to be brilliant 👍🎸
Amazing lesson! I never noticed how hard it is to learn watching someone play a guitar witout fret markings. Lol
great content!
I like these variation on a theme type of examples. Bolsters creativity. So when do the "Something Like That" t-shirts come out?
Hail to the king! As its what David is!
Man that natural harmonic turnaround is beautiful! Can you do a lesson on intros as well? And is there anyway to support your channel?
He's got a Patreon thingy.
Thank you!
YOUR THE MAN

Can you do a chord play on Paul Kossoff of Free
Tabs please, you play so effortlessly it would be so helpful for those us learning to have a map for the fingering

What is 13, 11 etc??
Sounds strange though on a classical guitar... doesn't give that deeper blues feel you need when playing this style.
Guitar teacher say tuned by ear seen do it years get it day off if I can get one string in tune get other
