    I just did this from watching your video. 🤘 Excited to ride in the morning! Helpful hint, you can do it by only pulling the rear brake lever, center clutch cover, and clutch assembly. It’s easy to get to the lever that way still, and you don’t have to drain 20$ worth of engine ice, unhook the PV, pull the pipe, or risk messing up that big inner gasket. Only have to drain the gear oil that way.

    Awesome mod I think I’m gonna do this now. Question tho I have a problem with my 4th gear. It stays engaged and shifts in and out of gear fine it just slips inconsistently in 4th gear. Thinking maybe the dogs are rounded off 😢 just wandering would this mod put more pressure on the gears staying in place. I know I need to pull it apart and replace what’s busted but the bike has low hours and otherwise runs perfectly so I didn’t wanna rebuild it just yet. Any advice?

    • @UpAllNight91
      @UpAllNight91  2 месяца назад

      Hello. Sounds like 4th gear is already worn. If its slipping in 4th it will need to be torn apart and repaired. I would also check the shift drum while in there. usually when they wear to the point not holding power, it will need the gears replaced as well as the first fork and drum. Bummer. The shift detent mod may not help it hold in at this point but the mod will surely help keep this wear from happening again once its all repaired.

    • @mathewquera1605
      @mathewquera1605 8 дней назад

      I’ve since torn it down and found badly rounded dogs between 3rd and 4th on the main shaft and a bent shift centre c10 shift fork. Shift drum and L and R forks are in great shape no wear at all. Currently Stuck waiting for parts atm, 6 week wait for gearbox parts in Australia 😢I’m Doing the 250x wide ratio tranny conversion and a full rebuild. Love your videos man thanks for all the help!

    What els causes false neutral other then the detent? I am having problems when down shifting on my 2014 yz250. Thanks

    • @UpAllNight91
      @UpAllNight91  2 месяца назад

      Hello. other than the detent... dirty oil, broken part of transmission getting lodged in the shift drum, or a shift detent levers roller coming apart. I will say I had a 2015 YZ450 and I had to do the shift detent mod on that bike because I was catching false neutrals going up and downshifting. It surely did the trick and that bike needed it. Its done a little differently on that bike since the spring is different. I bent the tab of the spring to cause it to apply more overall spring pressure.

      Yes your 125 has the round type and is actually ok. The cylinder can last for about 250 hours on a slow rider but maybe only 75 hours on a fast rider. Just depends on the rider really.

    • @UpAllNight91
      @UpAllNight91  4 месяца назад

      I use shell rotella 15-40. Almost anything will work though honestly. But rotella has a lot zinc in it which is good for metal to metal wear resistance. A set of clutches usually last me for ever so I dont have much experience with aftermarket clutches for myself but on customers bikes who burn through them we have a good success with the tusk brand clutch plates. They are priced well, fit good, and seem to work well.

      I thought it was a 30 too, but the 30 felt too loose. So I stuck some calipers on it and it read 29. I then put a 29 socket on it and it fit like a glove. I dont remember them using a 29 before so maybe they change it?

    • @UpAllNight91
      @UpAllNight91  4 месяца назад

      It can be done on any bike. The YZ125 has a round type spring, so you would have to bend the straight tab of the spring in the direction to apply more overall spring pressure. However I can tell you the YZ125 really doesnt need this mod. The spring they use in the YZ125 is actually sprung well enough in stock form.
