Metrotown Mall on Dec 26 2000

- This is my 8mm video which I had videotaped on Dec 26 2000, of Metrotown Mall and "Metropolis at Metrotown" mall in Burnaby.
This interior of this mall was different back then for several reasons. This video shows where the old food court was.
The two malls were joined by a narrow bridge passageway (you can see in this video how crowed it was on that busy day where it shows people cramped in this passageway). This bridge, located on the second level, was the only way to get to & from the two malls without having to go outside.
The mall's food court was in a different location. It was located on the first level. There were stairs in the middle of that Food court going to & from the second level.
Today, this area is now a mall that joins to the other mall on the first level so you don't have to be on the second level to cross to the other mall. And the area that the food court was in, has been widen and stores added and the stairs removed. There is no longer any hint that the stairs were ever there!
Nearby there was Metropolis which had Playdium, Rain Forest Café on the second floor.

I work in the mall and the malls are nothing like this no more :( sad
The malls near my area are still packed. It just depends on the people and what stores there are.

I always wondered why the superstore entrance had those fake balloons on the wall beside the entrance at 14:00
They were there since the very early 90s. In 1991 when I was 6, I used to go "Balloons ..... Stuck".
