You really make these videos fun to watch. I’m thinking of going to Japan myself and this helps to get some idea of what it’s like. The language barrier is real 😓 but the way you just handle yourself makes it look like it will still be a great time to be there! Great job man 🤙🏼 stay up and stay safe!

Japanese study English annually in junior and senior high school, some initial teaching given in grammar school, but the emphasis isn't on conversational language, the powers that be want the kids to be able to pass written tests to be better able to get into certain high schools or universities. Old school thinking that the students often find boring with such a classroom educational approach, it lacks the emphasis to be inspired to learn the language because of the fun and advantages that it can bring through verbal communication ability in the foreign tongue....for travel, making friends with foreigners, work and whatnot. Often they never get the clue that learning a foreign language is fun. The ones that do become proficient in English do so because of their additional individual interest, generally accompanied by an extracurricular pursuit in gaining the skills. Been living here on the island for forty years or so from across the sea, and thinking "out of the box", is not a strong pursuit of the Japanese in general. Much a fad oriented society, people will throw themselves with vigor at something that lots of other people follow before them for the same reason, be it the car they drive or a popular food that comes down the line, like the pancake with cheese in it, got to have it before moving on to the next big thing. People went crazy over Krispy Kreme donuts when they opened up here, waited in long lines that you wouldn't believe at the shop in Shinjuku when that was the popular item for awhile.

Loving these Japan vids! I've been living near Osaka for 12 years now. Totally agree about the language barrier. I have a Japanese wife who I can't imagine surviving without, even some of the most simple things are such a ball ache without learning the language. Friends wise, you're right. Japanese is needed and it can be frustrating not being able to freely communicate.

I’d love to visit Japan, but I don’t think I could live there, like you say the language barrier would be very hard, it seems a country where English is just not deemed important, but the crowds would kill me, all the videos I have watched there just seems to be people everywhere, but I suppose like all big cities, there will be pockets of tranquility somewhere 🤔

Japan has a lot of very quiet areas, even in the middle of the city. Tokyo is a good example of this. You have packed streets and then you walk down an alleyway and it's dead quiet and there's a small shrine in the middle of the city. It's really nice.

Osaka is super cool and yeah also grungy … I remember doing an all-nighter there with a pretty famous 90s Aussie rock band when I was asked to help with their language issues then we staggered back to our hotel and the garbage compacts were shaking with all the rats! Just did 5 days back in Tokyo and loved it! pleased myself with sone solid Japanese chat happening. First time speaking in 3 and a bit years! Only did a night in Osaka as had to get to Bangkok. I would recommend Fukuoka to you if you are not confident with Japanese-smaller city and full of Kyushu’s finest who gravitate there for university and ¥ therefore more prepared to speak with random foreign guys. I was lost there once when I was a noob and a kind girl then protected me for the next 72 hours and helped with myriad situations. Hakata girls are the hottest too!

3 months hey , just beware you’ll either need to stay at a mates place or in an AirBNB , renting a place here is extremely difficult even more so if your unable to speak read and write Japanese , and then theirs the you don’t speak Japanese issue, I think even Adam got this when trying to walk in and rent a room at a hotel without booking online and got the polite reply “ we are full “ over sorry no foreigners reply. It’s a great place to visit but if your thinking of living here you’ll need someone that is fluent in Japanese.
