Re-watching this show as an adult, I realize that Tommy was really the glue that kept this group together. Always trying to keep the peace and be the voice of reason. And HILARIOUS too.
Martin actually said that to him in one episode while they were bickering, lol. "Tommy you always gotta be the voice of reason!" So that was obviously his character.
I think we're all a little hurt. Some people just don't understand when you see somebody on TV for that long it's almost like you knew them and grew up together & then when they die it feels almost like the death of a loved one. it's so sad he died it just 52 years old but he left us with a lot of great memories.
Martin: When do you start Cole?? Cole: I Don't Know Martin: Where's the office at Cole?? Cole: I don't know Martin: Well what do you do Cole Cole: Same Thing as Tommy 😅😂😂 I died
R.I.P. Tommy dawg! Do y'all remember when he played the character Tommy Dynamite? He said, "I can cut you in, I can cut you out, or I can just cut ya"! LOL! I have all the Martin episodes. I will forever cherish them even more now. God bless his family...
Gina told everyone where he worked at in the interview. You know the episode doing Christmas time Martin had to dress up as Santa Claus for the kids ? He help the kids out. He worked in the black building but transferred to white building across the street😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
yea she said it but it makes no sense, i dont believe her, why would he need a blowtorch among other things at a boys and girls club lol but thats not important, RIP Tommy
Growing up in the 90s, I don't know ANYONE who didn't watch "Martin." Whether it was playing "Tommy Strawn" or playing Kim's daddy on "The Parkers," or being one of the judges on "Who's Got Jokes," Tommy Ford brought laughter and joy to EVERYONE!! #RIPTommy #GodJustHiredTommy
FUN FACT - Tommy Ford had wanted to be a clergyman/minister growing up, prior to him giving acting a try and excelled at it. The fact that Tommy is an ordained minister on the show and his Southern Baptist persona, in addition to his peaceful nature, is a reflection of him in real life. R.I.P. Big Tom!
Man….im a 2000’s baby, but mama used to always turn on some old throwbacks when I was little….Tommy died when I was a freshman in high school, I was devastated….Man….Rest In Peace Tommy 😔✊🏾
It was pure genius for who ever came up with the idea of running with"Tommy not having a job." Great writing plus Great acting= a Classic show. R.I.P. Tommy ain't got no job. Amen Amen and Amen.
it's so hard to believe that he's no longer with us. Tommy was such underrated part of Martin. RIP, Tommy. We will probably never really know where he worked and nobody can say "dawg" the way he could.
Rest in peace Tommy! I can't process this right now. He and the rest of my cast was SO much of my childhood. My mom and I would watch the show any time it was on. Wow.
Many laughs!!! Thank you, Thomas Mikal Ford!!!! Your heavy contribution to this show made Martin watchable for me from 1992 and onwards! Rest in Peace.
Martin had the kind of ensemble that was perfect in every way. With most shows you get one really funny character or maybe even two but with Martin EVERYBODY was funny as hell and contributed so much. Tommy's contribution only enhanced that greatness. This cast Is up there with Sanford and Son, All In The Family, Married with Children, The Andy Griffith Show etc.
"YOU AINT GOT NO JOB MAN!!!!!!!" LMAO Oh my gosh I'm gonna really miss you Tommy Ford. I still can't believe after all those years I be watching Martin God had called you to come home. You will be truly missed but your legacy will live on forever and ever Tommy. May You Rest In Peace Tommy Ford aka Tommy

Tommy had a job. He worked at the youth center with kids. Tommy had so much potential& he told the producers he wanted a real job on the show . During rehearsals & things the cast would joke about tommys job not being real so the producers took that & added into the storyline . "Tommy has no Job" There is an episode where the boss of his job comes over to Martins & they met her .
Gina told everyone where he worked at in the interview. You know the episode doing Christmas time Martin had to dress up as Santa Claus for the kids ? He help the kids out. Guidance counselor. He worked in the black building but transferred to white building across the street😂😂😂😂😂
