So may teachers do the one per one counting: put seven spindles in box seven, and let the students put them in the box one by one. Its nice, its important to practice the number series and cardinality, but if you do it one by one it doesnt give an intuitive sense of "wow 9 is a lot" which is what this exercise is designed to do. Hi, for 0 compartment- do we say, 0 means empty or 0 means nothing?
I always say: Zero means nothing. So that the child understands the concept of it
what comes before this? my 2 year old is counting to 30 but I know she doesn't recognize quantity or numerals
