I’ve used both of these and at least 5 Ryobi impact drivers and the 4-mode is hands-down my favorite. I mostly use the auto mode and only occasionally have to switch to a dedicated mode. But to have the ability to control the speed definitely has its place. My second favorite is the Quiet Strike because it really is much quieter than any other impact driver I’ve used and yet is good enough for most DIY tasks.

I have the 4 mode. It kicks ass. I've used it for home but I've let my brother borrow it for work on a construction site while he saved up for his Milwaukee tools. He used it for a month straight, all day 6 days a week and it kicked ass. The green monsters are great tools for the money. I'll take ryobi and rigid for the prosumer AND for the pro over the yellow crap anyday

One thing ryobi os seriously lacking is a updated version of their quiet strike make it more compact with better features. It's way way over due. I love impulse drivers. It's way less likely to strip a screw. I own the two Milwaukee surge drivers and they are the best

Bushless keeps it cooler. I've used the same Ryobi drill and battery for over 18 years. I just purchased a Ryobi Impact with 4.0h batt because of it.

Power tool break in is a real thing. That performance difference is wayyyy too much

Some people have a lot of trouble modulating the trigger throttle on drills, impacts or like my wife using a air impact gun on the trucks lug nuts.
She will break them loose and then spin them off almost flinging them on the floor.
😂 c’mon man, our house isn’t wal-mart tire center now.

Interesting. I assumed the four-mode driver was newer/more advanced.
Meanwhile, I'm sitting over here with my blue impact happy as a clam.

the single mode has cheap chinese grease inside the gears ⚙️ i cleaned out the factory grease and replaced it with some high temp red N tacky grease and it doesn’t get over 90 degrees

All Milwaukee tools is made in China in the same exact factory as ryobi. I don't hear you complain about the Chinese grease in those. Milwaukee is a Chinese owned company btw

China makes the best highest quality tools and electronics money can buy wtf are you talking about. Snap on diagnostic computers all apple iPhone and all apple high end products. All Milwaukee Ridgid and Ryobi tools. All made in China.

The gears are supposed to be a lightweight non sticky grease not a tacky heavy grease. Heavy grease will reduce the power output and cause things to gum up smart guy

Interesting. So the 4-mode doesn't have the variable speed trigger? I guess I've never noticed one way or the other on my Milwaukee Surge driver that has 4 modes. Really makes you wonder if the kit with the 4-mode is worth the extra $20-$30 given the deals that tend to come with the $199 kit with the single mode!

For anybody else who was wondering this, I just watched an older VCG Construction video testing out the 4-mode, and it seems it *does* have the variable-speed trigger as well. The main difference is that it has the mode selector, and the single-mode doesn't.

I have the Ryobi P235AVN impact driver. Do you think I can use it on lug nuts to work on my car?
