    Thanks for posting.
This course is great if you are short on distance/novice, but still want to be challenged by a layout that you’ve shown is NOT flat. I would encourage a NOOB to play here after they have taken hacks at Heartwell and David L. Baker a few times. Obviously fine/experienced golfers can teach you how to play smart on this loop as being a bomber isn’t a necessity.
I Early Bird Back Nine once a week with that hill of holes before work.
The 22 to 25 handicap is left shaking his head when making triples on any of those back nine par 4s followed by screaming “what just happened?”
11th tee shot is usually right up on that ledge of dirt/trees where the approach chip is never enough going uphill. Par 3 13th is dreadful if you push tee shot left or right. 15th is a pain. Either hit the trees exiting the tee box or smoke it right up toward/beyond 16th tee box area. I’ve only seen one person drill the tee shot up the hill and a touch left to leave a reasonable chip. My best idea is to chunk a wimpy tee shot straight about 150 yards and then curse the green when it comes into sight.
I’m on speaking terms with the 10th and 16th. I do enjoy the 12th (clear the road off the tee, but the rising sun at 7am makes it impossible to see), 14th (don’t hit the house at the corner of Charleyville/Meadowbrook with the approach), 17th, & 18th. The greens on 12 and 14 are no fun. I can have a positive finish on 17th and 18th if I avoid the trap on 17 and stay dry on 18. Sometimes off the tee my 2nd shot goes over a portion of the pond and if it doesn’t land around that bunker then it either landed short in the water or zoomed off to the 3rd hole never to be found.Anybody playing the white tees is gifted a 420+ yard Par 5 on 18 to end the day.

I've lived in Huntington Beach since 1978 but it wasn't until I retired 5 years ago that I had an opportunity to play Meadowlark with any kind of frequency. Now I'm playing 5 or 6 times a month but still not finding the greens to be any friendlier! It may be a short course but I doubt I'll live long enough to not find it challenging! My buddies and I call Hole #12 "The Ant Hill" because of the crazy and frustrating raised green!

Great video! I grew up “across the street” just like you did and played this course a ton! This video was a great walk down memory lane, as I had some of the same milestones you mentioned. Playing there this weekend with my regular group. I’m excited to introduce it to them.

When the swing isn't working, any course can be hard! Keep plugging away!
