I’ve listened to virtually all Casefiles episodes on Spotify and for some reason this one haunted me the most. There are roughly about 20 that I find truly terrifying and nothing is more frightening than knowing there are people like this that exist among us.
Yep, same. I heard of this case a few years back and, despite being an avid true crime enthusiast, this one really creeped me out and bothered me more than any other I'd heard of to that time. It actually terrifies me, the more I learn of what kind of crazy ppl are out there. Frankly, I'm astonished that I've never crossed paths with any real danger in my 54 years bc I lived pretty wild and free in my late teens and 20s. Now, I'm pretty happy to remain safely in my living room!
I first heard The Toy Box killer during one of Bailey Sarian's episodes on RUclips. I love your take on it as well. I truly enjoy listening to your videos.
I can’t imagine the pure terror of believing your captor is a police officer, and not knowing who you can trust after you’ve escaped from this hell. I hate that shit like this has to happen.
We had a very bad drought from 2015-2017 when almost 1/4 of Elephant Butte dried up so much the buildings that we covered when Caballo Dam was built in the great depression were above water again. The FBI, local authorities and volunteers seized the opportunity and scoured the exposed lake bed, hoping to find human remains of Ray's victims. There are still many families missing their daughters. The remains of a German man who disappeared in 2007, much later than the toybox murders, and declared a accidental drowning was all that was found, even with cadaver dogs. It was very disheartening.
I wonder how they are so sure he killed, other than the 2 accomplices that spoke up after arrest. I like to think he released a lot like he claimed and wrote about in his journal.
I watched a few different documentaries on this story and it was said that this happened in a town called Truth or Consequences New Mexico which is next to Elephant Butte. The story told here had some differences than the documentaries I’ve seen.
Truth or Consequences, changed its name to this unusual name in March 1950. Prior to that it was Hot Springs, NM. Hot Springs was founded in 1916. Elephant Butte didn't become an incorporated city until 1998. As David Parker Ray's crimes span from 1957-1999, most of them predate the name of Elephant Butte. The original address given @ the beginning of this episode, Bass Road is actually in Hot Springs Landing... just north of Elephant Butte proper. Elephant Butte borders Truth or Consequences, on its southern border. While Truth or Consequences stretches further north than both of these locales on the west; with its Municipal Airport being north of both Hot Springs Landing & Elephant Butte. So, depending on the time being considered, and which side of the street something was located, the names are almost interchangeable.
I’m so confused, I don’t know if this is about the toy box murders, but I thought they were committed by two men. I was completely unaware his girlfriend was also a perp, & never heard of her mentioned.
You can listen to the full audio of what the victims had to listen to when he captured them. It is horrifying and goes into what will be done to them! His girlfriend's participation is shocking and unimaginable.

You do amazing work. Morbid, but I can’t sleep unless I turn on one of your episodes. Then I have to listen again when I wake up.

I love your videos. Thank you for taking time to tell these stories. You're awesome.😘😘😘
What this man did to those people literally made me sick. Such evil should not exist.
I love your channel...and your voice!
Why doesn't this channel have more subscribers ?
Most of their listeners do through Spotify or apple

I'm a native close to the area. What can I answer for you?
La Doña Mariposa Vigilis is this podcast accurate?? I’ve been trying so hard to find one that’s actually well researched :(

I wonder if the FBI ever found any snuff films Ray made???? It's fucked up Ray could sell that many snuff films and not get cought.
I wondered that too
God bless that 911 operator
👏👏👏. OMG!
Ray would sell women he kidnapped to traffickers across u.s. lines onto Mexico.....that's really disturbing. Poor women I feel so bad for them :(
Is this true
It's as if they got inspired by the Colleen Stan's case to commit their crime there's so many similarities
You would be surprised at how many sadomasochists there are in the world!!!! There stories are Soo similar. Sick as hell!!

I think you mean the tool box murderers . Those were the ones committed by two men.
