I have only just found your articles and I find them informative and enjoyable. I don’t usually follow anyone but yours are so refreshing I will continue to follow them. You work hard and seem to end trips as fresh as when you start them. I am from Yorkshire in England and so find the difference in culture very interesting, subtle but very different. God bless you in your work. Mike.
Hi Hannah, another lovely video, nice to see some of the aircraft, your looking beautiful as always despite the long hours, your body clock must be all over the place, you work very hard and always have a lovely proffesional smile. Who feeds your dogs whilst your away, thanks for the video and effort in putting them together.. Your videos are great, take care always Matt from UK xx
Thank you for sharing your layover there in Seattle. I have not walked down to Pikes Hillclimb Street in years there to the Public Market Center!😊 I have been to Seattle in winters and in summers. It is nice to walk down to the harbor area a see the Pikes Ferries leaving port to go to the islands there in Seattle.😊
Hi Hannah, I loved seeing Ozzy, he is such a gentleman! That 11 hour day you did would have absolutely wiped me out but you did so amazing, thanks for sharing.
I've just started watching your videos and I just need to say your a amazing woman and very beautiful hannah.. try and do some flights here in the UK xx
I've had some amazing experiences wiith flight attendants Hannah they're some of my most favourite people on the planet I pretty much view them as superheroes because I have autism they've treated me nicely thank you for your service
Your channel is growing so much. Well done! You seem to get your vlogs out so fast after filming. Is there any chance you will do a live vlog again?. The live vlog was so much fun!
This is excellent! Learning a lot. Keep up with your Scripture reading plan. That's fantastic and thanks for mentioning that as well. BTW, as I write this I'm in Greenville for a conference. Very nice city!!
Just found the channel yesterday Hannah and love the way you deliver your content. Really refreshing and easy to watch. Maybe someday you might get a trip to Ireland and enjoy our hospitality. Just wondering what is your favourite aircraft to work on? Were you an aviation fan before you became an attendant? Looking forward to the next video.
We have flights Dublin out of Charlotte in the summer so I’m hoping to get one then! We’ll see 🤞🏼. But I’m most comfortable on our airbus 321s just because I work on that aircraft about 90% of the time. I always enjoy trips on the wide bodies though. I didn’t know much about aviation before I started actually. I had only flown 3 or 4 times before I got hired. I just applied on a whim.
Clt is a big airbus base so most of our flights will be on the 321. But occasionally we get a 737. Ord (Chicago) is a Boeing base, so most of their domestic trips are on 737s with the occasional 321.
Yup, Nashville is CST zone! I guess no tipping allowed but if passengers give a $10 Starbucks to the crew, which is what I generally do for flights that are 2 hours plus (which is about three or four times a year) that IS A FREE COFFEE OR FOOD goodie!!! LOL! Stay safe and awesome in the sky young lady! ✌👍🤠✈
I did learn something. I watch lot of flight attendants so I thought I knew everything. I didn’t know the 5 hour rule. 5 hour a day min unless another day was less then 5 hours. So 1st day one hour makes it 5 hours and 2nd day 6 hours which turns into 5 hours so the extra hour is added to 1st to make 2 hours but it is actually still 5 hours. You explained it well. Thank you.
You are compensated for the boarding time, etc., in that your flight pay is elevated to "compensate" you for those other tasks. For example, if your flight pay is $41 per hour - we all know flight attendant duties don't rise to that level of pay - as such, some of that $41 per hour is meant to compensate you for the other "non-paid" duties. It's not reasonable to think F/A duties are worth $41 per hour for all duties, etc.
Hannah, that 1-2-1 rotation got what- about 10 or 11 fly credit hours? If had known you were in SEA, would gladly have come downtown to the seafood market to meet you. Do the ground commutes to CLT get tiresome or not? Thank goodness you aren’t having to do turns with that drive. Herman
So we flew 13 hours worth, but since we get paid 5 hours every day we fly the trip was worth 15. I enjoy driving. That’s my down time. So not too tiring yet
Can you please explain the difference between "enrolled friends" and "buddy passes" for the people you chose to fly free? Is it 24 one way buddy passes but enrolled friends are unlimited? Who qualifies? Are there taxes due on the "value" of these flights? They can't be entirely free, right? What about the cost of meals? This could be an interesting video!
Very interesting and confusing system they have to pay FAs. No pay during boarding sure seems a bit too unfair. It's working for free. 😖😖. Nosey question now, how much of a bump in pay would you get if you were to get paid for "boarding" and "waiting around the airport in between flights? 10, 15, 20% maybe? Safe flying, Hannah.
If I had to guess I would say maybe 20% for both boarding and sit time pay. For just boarding maybe 10-15%. But it’s hard to say. It would depend on how many flights you do a day.
Greenville is such a cool town. I almost took a hob with a company based out of there and stayed at the Courtyard in downtown. So how do they track the time to see what pay you get or do u FA do that. So did u get paid for 5 hrs the final day. Seattle definitely exceeded my expectations when I visited last summer.
The city has grown so much over the years. It’s a fun little place now! I don’t know exactly who puts in all the time details, but we have a file on one of our work apps that shows what time we pushed back and got in to be able to see the hours we are paid for. The only time the FA has to know about timing issues is if there is a hold (delay) once boarding has been complete. We will have to put in any extra time that we sat with passengers before the door was closed in order to be paid for that delay.
Hey Hannah! Greetings from Missouri. I know FA's are allowed one more carry-on piece for meals, but I'm curious, is the carry-on suitcase the same size requirement as paying passengers?
So our company bag is actually a little bit bigger than the normal carry on. We we supposed to be allowed to bring it on trips and when we are non-revving for personal travel, but sometimes agents will make us check it when we are out of uniform because it doesn’t fit in the bag sizer thing they use to check carry ons.
@@hannahsims3799 thank you for confirming! That is what I was afraid of. I will continue to use this piece for road trips only as I really, really like this piece of luggage.
Hello! I’m in GVL also! I got my CJO in Nov and I’m waiting on my training date with your airline. I would love to be based in CLT, so my question is do you prefer staying in a crashpad/hotel while on reserve or do you normally stay home until you’re called? Also, do you ever fly in to CLT if you’re too tired to drive? I’ve been in my head on how I want to commute because 85N is horrible 😂 Thank you in advance!
That’s so exciting! Congratulations! I sit reserve at home now. With my seniority I’m usually one of the last people to get called when I’m on call, so I can monitor it from home. You could also bid for stuff to make it a little easier to do reserve at home. My first two years I was based in DC and Philly, so I did do a Crashpad for a little while. I didn’t mind the crash pad life in Philly, but my DC Crashpad was awful. At one point in Philly I wasn’t doing a Crashpad and would just sleep in our little sleep rooms between trips. It’s a lot but I was poor and needed to save money 😂. I drive for all my trips. I’ve thought about flying but by the time you do all the boarding and taxi and everything it takes the same amount of time, and it’s not as reliable as a car. I also like that once I end a trip I can go straight home instead of waiting around the airport for a flight. That was the worst part about commuting. All the wasted time in the airport. So I use my drives as my unwind time and enjoy them. Hope that was helpful! Can’t wait to see you on the line!
Thank you so much!! This was really helpful and it puts my mind at ease. I’m also keeping my mind open if CLT is not available, but the crashpad life is driving me up the wall if it doesn’t work out to my taste 🤣 Thank you again and I look forward to seeing you on the line also!
Flight attendants have never been paid well. During the initial years, the job does not pay anything close to a living wage. I think the seniority based pay system needs to change. Pay people the same amount throughout their careers. Then no one will be homeless.
I wish y'all got paid more golly I don't even know how y'all pay bills, seems like every other minute the airline has their hand in your pocket. $2.50\hr for flight activity not flying is hard to grasp
Yea, we’ll see what happens when we get a new contract. Hopefully some of the issues with our pay will be addressed, but they are taking their time to get one put a decent one together 🤷🏼♀️
