  • THE LIVING ARROW WING QUIVER, AND
    THE COUNTER-LOADING METHOD
My recent fast shooting records were based on a new loading technique, which consists in having at nocking both hands moving in opposite directions along the shooting line.
Actually the string, pushed in front by the bow hand, makes contact with the nock even before the complete turning of the arrow on the horizontal line, (the final position being reached during the drawing).
Instead of simply moving forth and back like a piston, the right hand's trajectory is more rounded and compact, in order to achieve continuity and swifter transition between loading and drawing.
This counter-loading technique is much faster and well balanced comparing with the previous methods, but requires a certain position of the arrows above the drawing shoulder.
The Wing quiver was designed in oder to achieve this ideal set up, which consists in having the arrows in a near horizontal position, but placed higher (comparing with the flying quiver), with the line of the nocks inclined downward to the right side.
The quiver's body and the wide belt are made exactly as for the flying quiver, but the front shoulder straps were taken off, and the rigid rods from behind were made longer.
The opening of the quiver is connected sideways to a long shoulder strap, running from the front part of the wide chest belt to the back part of the quiver.
In this way, the distance between the archer's head and his arrows can be adjusted simply by shortening or lenghtening the short shoulder strap.
At maximum lenght, the quiver is practically hanging along the external part of the upper arm, and is following its motion as a wing.
The last position is particularly suitable for a very elegant, more rounded loading motion, but the quiver is faster if is closer to the middle line.
By modifying the lenght of the main shoulder strap, can be adjusted also the quiver's inclination and the level of the chest belt.
    IMPORTANT!
Even if obviously the Wing quiver is just an updated version of the Flying quiver, I used the opportunity to use a different name because of personal reasons.
The meaning of the word "wing" is quite complex, suggesting the possibility of "flying", but also "protection", as an umbrella...
Since my drawing technique is described recently as "The Principle of Umbrella", and the personal mounted archery approach as "Under my Umbrella", I found the name Wing more appropriate...
The older flying quivers can be updated quite easily by implementing a long shoulder strap, just the rigid rods from the rear being more difficult to replace with longer ones.

Very nice quiver! I noticed something on the bow's handle. Is it somehow modified?
