in Australia i have been a witness to this very scene, you have captured this to a T. Bush Fires are real, thank god for Elvis and all his crew. they have saved many a life, many a house and many many acres of land. The Australian bush fire season is one the behold and very much feared....thank you you Thomas for bringing this to life........
Excellent Model Thomas, During the Kangaroo Island bushfires in South Australia we had Elvis helping us and because we had limited water, we directed the skycrane to empty all the Hotel pools and then private pools.
Excellent diorama Thomas. Love all the details you add that no one but viewers will ever know about, the garden gnomes are the icing on the cake. Brought back memories from about 20 years ago when I was with a firefighting crew defending a house from a wildfire. We had set up our truck next to the pool to pull water from if we ran out of tank water and we planned on jumping in if we got overrun by the fire. We were supported by a S-64 Skycrane like you built but it had a 'dipper' bucket and not a tank. We saved the house with the help of the helicopter.
hi Tom, where were you a firefighter? i was out of auburn california. i had been in that same sort of situation. structure protection using a type 4 wildland engine built in 1973, i was active 1980-1994, we would always find a home with a pool or large pond nearby. and we had a plan to use the pool/pond for personal safety as well. i guess im unlucky as i was burned over 3 times, only ever got minor burns, worst injury was from flying debris lol. had the S64s come in many times and of course the CDF (cal fire now) huey's and other private heli's.. was a company back then that painted their heli's blue for some reason. was assigned to the water tender (tanker or just water truck to some?) when it was unmanned. then we would either be drafting and filling other engines,or refilling the pool for the dipping by the heli's. so many people think wildland firefighting is just the glory of being on the line with 30' flames all around you and constant excitement. not so most of the time, you get put on structure assignments and spend hours doing nothing really. wet things down every so often.. keep an eye on drifting brands (embers), to keep spots(small spots of fire) from starting, and so on. have done that way out front or on the flanks where the evac orders are just an advisory, not mandatory, what people dont know, even law enforcement, they cant actually force you to leave, they can threaten to arrest you, but they cant really do that. well they can and have, but charges are always dropped.the offending officer is never reprimanded though.
@@lasercreation-world1981 Hi Tomas, is there a way i can private message you? may be a email contact on a website? i have a question about custom made/designed human figures in 1/35th scale ,3D printable, for a diorama im planning. is that possible to contact you in private?
@@davekauffmanjr2069 Spent 18 years in the fire service in Montgomery Texas. Have worked with Cal-Fire before here in Texas when they sent the DC-10. I was about 100 yards away from one of the drops and that was impressive. To hear and feel the water hitting the ground was exciting. There are some videos on the Tri-country fire on youtube and I will try to find one.
A wonderful result Thomas! The diorama concept is exceptional, and I know architectural modellers that would give anything for your skill level with building detail. I agree with your decision to retain a static display, without the effects of rotor wash etc., as that would defeat the purpose of all the detail that you have added to the scene. You astound us with this one as always my friend. Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺!
Great diorama , we see skycranes fly over quite a bit for fires and hauling heavy items, one was carrying a giant transformer, I ran into get my camera but it was already gone.
Off the charts again Thomas. Your dioramas getting more impressive by every build. And this was big, seeing your body next to it. A great work of art you showed us today.
I love watching you put these dioramas together. Your attention to detail and your precision are amazing. Those garden gnomes are so adorable! Watching you build always amazes me, and each little detail that develops always makes me smile. Thank you for your videos. Oh, and there's a dog! How perfect is that!
Every inch / millimetre of this is perfect. Beautiful. Having worked around large helicopters though, RAAF, I have to say that none of that furniture or flowerpots would be anywhere near that house. The Sky Crane "Elvis" visits us nearly every Summer now. Cheers from, sweltering, Queensland, Oz.
Absolutely stunning work! Having been almost that close to a Sky crane pulling water it can best be described in one word, LOUD! Those are amazing machines and you captured that.
These videos of yours are models of clarity and quality in their own right - quite apart from the modelling skills on display. I think the is the confidence that's shown to inspire others to be daring, exciting and original - a trait that you consistently show. Give that man a cee-gar!
I love when i forget to check in on your channel and then I come and see an epic long creation like this! I prepare for it like I'm watching a movie, i get snacks! You are a real artist and gifted story teller
This is Crazy, very cool idea. Think its so difficult to Show the helicopter in a higher position. But i definitely know the meaning of the Story! Respect 😎
Another fantastic Diorama Thomas, some wonderful skills and techniques on show here. I always feel inspired after watching one of your vids, thank you for sharing.
That is just freaking brilliant! I have to admit, I have taken so many notes and ordered so many products from watching your videos, just amazing work. I can thank you for my skill level going up a couple notches just from watching these wonderful videos. Much respect!
I don´t know ,what to say or write, because all words are here to weak to express my admiration...Keep up your great work and let us wait not long for another project,please..!
While this is a gorgeous build, it looked more to me like a well-made dollhouse with lots of potential to be a really cool action scene. I watch Thomas's wonderful videos to improve my own skills, so hopefully my ideas below are taken as constructive suggestions and I can give back to him in some small way. Life is all about improvement right? This scene could be made really dynamic by capturing the effects of the helicopter. A helicopter's blades flex upwards in flight (sometimes by 2-3 metres at the tips in the hover!). I've had some luck "warping" them gently upwards with a hair dryer to get rid of the "droop" you always get on plastic models. The S-64 maxes out at more than 19,000 kg, which requires many tons of lift and creates tremendously powerful downwash. The pool water could be thrashing with waves and spray, plant pots and gnomes could be flying across the ground, shingles tearing off the roof, trees and grass bent (or flattened) in concentric waves away from the helicopter... etc. Those poor people would have a difficult time even standing there, so you could model a really dynamic pose with their clothes and hair streaming in the wind as they struggle to stay on their feet. That aluminium rod inside the hose was a brilliant idea - very well done.
The attention to detail is absolutely stunning..WOW.. it's a pleasure to watch your work or I should say better create.. maybe try a fairy house next Keep making the videos .. outstanding
