I was somewhat rookie in light A with a deco alcohol engine. Aways was told by different builders they learned a bit about flow from that motor. It had really good flow and a hot spark for the methanol.
Thank you for bringing this to light. That's why I decided to buy an stock Animal engine. This is our first year and the used engine I bought is making metal and I couldn't find a Honda engine. Did luckily find a animal though and hope to run it this week in Blue rookie.
Brisk plug is the best. Will give you a spark timing gain of .25. When tech checks timing they are to be using the stock Honda strap style plug that has no gain. They do not call the plug out in the tech manual but apparently all the engine builders know this from what they say although I have never met a tech person that knew it.
Justin H Liston to it again. I say gives you “like” 6degrees of timing. I don’t say that it will advance the timing. That is impossible. People can relate to spark timing and moving the gear gives you “like” more power or “like” 2 tenths faster lap time. Point is gives you more advantage and should not be legal but usac allows it.
@@johnkryta2161 Ok, I guess I'm use to people equating performance with Torque and Horsepower numbers +/- or transient response improving or getting worse.
The guy with most money gets the fast motor.its never changed,$$ takes away from ITS A FUN FAMILY SPORT. THEY HAVE MOVED CRANK GEARS SINCE 1975 BOSE AND CONTNTAL LAY DOWN MOTORS.

The rookie stuff is spot on. Word of advise, always tell them you run JR Honda when buying a motor lol
How does this engine accelerate quicker with heavier parts? Do you have an explanation?
Awesome video!!!
Thanks!!
I’m running a baker ut2 for my grandson looking for spark plug recommendations please

Where do I find Honda UT3 motor
Hard to find right now, though mid/late November they seem to be coming into stock.
Cam timing and ignition timing are two different things.
Yes they are.
You pointed to the gear on the crank that meshes with the cam gear and stated it advances the spark timing.... I'm confused. @4:52 ish
