Hi Guy, I love my X1 tyres in 45mm. I have been riding them since the Gralloch in May and used for several gravel events including the Borderlands and the North Wales World gravel series. They have been brilliant so far. 100% perfect so far. Every other gravel tyre I have used have punctured or had issues with holding pressure between rides. I bought a pair of the race versions for the Gravel World champs.
They are really good tyres eh? Need to get a review video shot of them. Thought the Race versions were a bit fragile at first as I got a puncture on the second ride but had zero issues with them since. Just fitted the reinforced ones to the tandem too so now I'm fully GK'd up!
Just got one too!. A dyed in the wool mtb rider . ,love it more than i thought I would . Those maxxis ramblers are lethal in the mud though ! Might look into the panaracers.
@@simonbowlzer9046 the Ramblers are a fail all round. Not even that fast. For mud the WTB Nano is surprisingly good (while the Sendero one that looks like it should be good is shite). Or just find something that was an old XC MTB tire in 29 x 2.0/2.1in and that should fit. I’m planning to try and get some Rocket Ron 2.1in to have a go myself.
i demo'd the stigmata at the santa cruz factory store a few weeks ago and loved it. I was on their mullet build and for the hills I was doing it was great, having a 10-52 cassette was definitely appreciated. I am going with a Propain Terrel instead but if money were not a concern I would have bought the stigmata it was a blast. I'm trying to decide if I should go with the Fox 50mm suspension or the Rudy 40mm suspension. Have you tried the fox by any chance? I'm leaning that way just because of the extra travel.
it came with the Rudy but I've been trying to get a standard fork for it for over a year now. If I do get one though yes I'll keep it external for ease of swapping.
I've been considering buying the basic version of Stigmata for a while, but it seems to me that the price is a bit inflated due to its American origin? 🤔
@@sforzz yeah, built into bikes in America in a solar powered factory with lots of funding for advocacy and trail crews etc all adds to cost. As does the Santa Cruz name. Brilliant bike though and a great lifetime warranty scheme
As a mountain biker who wanted a gravel bike I purchased the Stigmata about a year ago. Bike now has 1,200 miles and I love it. Yes it’s expensive but it’s a wonderful bike and a great value with the lifetime warranty.
Love the final comment on participation on what bike and what cost to have fun

That’s a great set up Guy. It’s amazing at how capable a good gravel bike is these days. 👌
the dream build
It was a smart decision to get a red bike for such a long trip. Red goes faster.
Love it oppo❤

Cateye Orb bar end lights solve all my issues of positioning and are away from mud and road grime
Super build, I bet it's a beast 👍 I've got a modest grx810 by comparison. Do you think a 31F & 34R gear ratio would be enough?

Have you found yourself swapping between the standard Stig fork and the Rudy? If so do you just run the brake house on the outside?

Was this video the one where you stopped saying ‘on long term loan’ after mentioning the Stigmata? Have you made it official?

Four thousand pound groupset? That's a pretty heavy groupset. You couldn't possibly be talking about the price, could you?
🤣TBF it's a not quite £4k but it's very close.
ironic that you got a blister on the palm of your hand while riding a stigmata.
