    It's not a failure. It's just another step on your journey to getting your dream job. I know exactly how you feel, as I have to retake a University module next year, due to failing it and I won't be able to graduate until I do so. I reacted very badly to the news. I cried, I screamed and went into complete meltdown. I was very pessimistic about my future after that. The feeling of sadness and disappointment is still there, but it will fade with time. You are probably feeling like crying and screaming right now and feel pessimistic about what will happen, but it will get better and it is those bumps in the road which are the best moments, as they build our resilience and allow us to plow on through and succeed! This will get better! Use this moment to move forward and build on your success!

    I can certainly relate to the gut wrenching feeling of failing an exam. But take it from someone who had to retake an exam 3 times, that it's the difficulties in one's journey, that make the victory in the end an even sweeter one.
    And in our eyes, you are already an Actuarial Associate! 😉
    Chin up Paige, You got this! 💖💖💖

    That was a tough one. Don't be discouraged Paige! I believe you will get there in the next sitting! You already said this is the toughest actuarial exam out there.
    Oh and congratulations to Lydia on the first! That is amazing!
    On another note though, I do have two questions.
    1) When exactly was your exam results day? Am thinking of heading to London in mid to late June next year and I noticed that you both were still wearing trench coats when you were outdoors. I was initially apprehensive of heading there since I expected it to be warm in the summer (had enough of heat in Singapore!), but to see your outfits tell me that it is still rather cold in London during this time.
    2) How does the IFOA decide on the passing grade? Is it based on a bell curve? It can be rather harsh if it is determined based on a bell curve.

    • @PaigeY
      @PaigeY  Год назад

      This was filmed last week (so early July). Our coats were lightweight because it’s warm-ish (probably 18/19 degrees C in the evening) but been raining a lot recently. British weather is a bit of a lottery 😅
      Yeah the IFoA adjust the pass mark so that the pass rate stays broadly consistent between sittings. Only 2 grades (pass/fail) so just a case of moving up/down to reach desired calibration

      @PaigeY then the passing rate will have been above the long-term average passing rate. It could be they were trying to keep the passing rate around the long-term average. For example, if the long-term passing rate had been around say 40%, they wouldn't want a sudden spike on the passing rate this time round.
