A love letter to one of the greatest games ever made.
Thank you for your labor
I'm old as hell and have played MANY great video games... If the DLC ends up being as good as I anticipate, I think this might be my favorite game of all time.
@@ianthorpe1925if the dlc really becomes as good as we hope, there is literally no competition no more. it will be the new greatest game of all time
I think the prototype might have been Demons souls remake
Ryan deserves an Oscar for his amazing, stellar performances.
I'm a late 50s grandmother who is new to Elden ring and am not ashamed to say I'm addicted to everything about it. The artwork is outstanding. Thank you so much for your hard work and dedication to producing this masterpiece for us all to enjoy.
I'm a huge fan of G. R. R Martins work and was thrilled to hear of his involvement. ❤
Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
That is awesome! Glad to see people of all ages appreciating fromsoftware's masterpieces. I wish you many more years of fun gaming
@ouarhichem1864 I've bought all the souls games now, for when I finish this beast 😆. Just reached level 101 so lots more to do.
Thank you for your kind words. X
awesome!!
fax
He really did it... Thank you bro.
Thanks! :)
No way! It's here!! Thank you for your hard work man. Tomorrow's workday is gonna fly by with this in my ear. 🤙
Thank you very much for supporting my work! Much appreciated!
I personally believe that not adding markers on the map is one of if not the biggest reason why exploring elden ring was so fun, anything could be hiding behind any corner and in alot of cases there was something, reliving that experience for the first time again is one of the many reasons why everyone is so exited for SOTE
Agreed! Thanks for sharing!
ER is honestly such a good open world game, I just wish they had some form of quest log. It should be on you the player to interpret exact locations (I.E. "did you hear that howling in the woods") and stuff but theres so much happening and its spread so far apart at times.
@@gaynarchist Miyazaki said in a previous interview that designing quests to not be too obscure is something they'll havd to work on in the future, having a better and more flexible quest progression will be better than adding a quest log which goes the no map marker design philosophy
@@GILGAMESH069 if they can find a better way of doing it id love it but I think just having a little log in your menu or something that says like "kale mentioned there was howling in the woods" wouldn't be the same as map markers.
I'm really excited what their next open world project will be, maybe shadow will have better quests to give it indicator in which direction they're going in.
It is however sad that the beautiful map is littered with fast travel points after you have found them though. Great looking map. Dont know how they would fix it since fast travel is needed at some points, but still a shame.
i was fortunate enough to play the network test. funny story - i got the congratulations email from bandai the day after my grandma died. i was so grateful and tbh playing elden ring for those 3 glorious days helped the grieving process i think LOL
Damn talk about a developed core memory
What a bittersweet memory 🥹
The Ryan Morris voice acting had me dying😂😂
That Fan Art of Ranni in the thumbnail is freaking sick, it looks more like an old porcelain doll than the actual character model does.
made by SAPRO
@@caioeduardo42 Thanks for letting me know, I went and looked at his other work and I absolutely love his artstyle. He kind of reminds me of Yoshitaka Amano, the man who did the character designs for Final Fantasy 1-6 and 9.
@@NamelessKing1597 I actually thought it was Yoshitaka Amano 😅 really similar but it aint a bad thing...
It kinda reminds me of Griffith tbh
12 hours?! you madman. This video is truly the Elden Ring of Elden Ring analysis videos!
I really hope the algorithm blesses this video.
Thanks!
I can’t stress enough how valuable it is to have somebody document this. Thank you and I can’t wait to dive into this after work!
My pleasure! Thank you! :)
dondonrv is a man focus, commitment, and sheer fucking will.
Haha... Thanks! :)
Aside from SmoughTown's lore compilation of two 12h vids, this is the only other vid I know of to reach such lengths. It's gonna take a while to get through! Thank you for the chapter organization as well, very helpful!
My pleasure! Thank you! :)
SmoughTown's Elden Ring "The Lore" series now spans 3 parts and nearly 36 hours in total (Part 1 @ 13hr37min, Part 2 @ 12hr31min and Part 3 @ 10hr07min).
Stumbled upon a channel doing a 12 hour documentary about Elden Ring development = auto subscribe. haha, wow. Hat's off.
Thanks!
@@dondonrv sure thing!
Oh boy do I know what I'm going to do for my next HALF DAY
I’ve never donated through a comment on youtube before, but the dedication and effort into making this and all the previous “making of”’s needs to be commended and rewarded. You sir, DondonRV, are a legend and I thank you for your hard work.
Thank you for supporting my work! Much appreciated!
This is truly a master work. You are like a grand eldenring craftsman. I will tell my village of our meeting.
Haha...Thank you :)
I, and so many others are so insanely grateful to you for this video. May you have whatever you wish for.
My pleasure! Thank you! :)
You talking about the hollowing is unironically the funniest stuff ever 😂
Glad you liked it! :)
The "they're talking about, and I cannot stress this enough, a game that does not exist" never fails it's fucking hilarious every time. Also I love these vids bro keep it up
Thanks! :)
When the world needed him most... the GOAT returned
Haha... Thanks! :)
You made my whole day. I have a long 12 hour shift infront of me and this is going to carry❤ much appreciation for all the work you did here and in your older videos
My pleasure! Thank you! :)
I'm not sure there is a game that exists yet that is on a level even remotely close to Elden Ring.
There is not.

This video was an instant click. Been watching all your other fromsoft making of videos. Thank you.
Thanks! :)
1:33:00 i love reading bout the hollowing, glad and sad i didnt take part of it, lucky that i first heard of Elden Ring when it released!
Great video man!.
Sad to think about all the covid deaths that didnt get to play Elden RIng indeed, Praise the sun for them
Thank you! :)
This is incredible thank you. I can’t imagine how much work was put into this vid especially just the editing alone.
Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
The second seminar with the 3D Designer was suuuuuper eye opening to their design process as a whole, hats off to you for collecting all of this information 🎩
My pleasure! Thank you! :)
This video deserves 1M views
" History is wars " is so true it sums up literally every history I have learned till now granted there are periods of peace but its crazy how wars have always followed periods of peace
That was nothing but awesome to watch. I haven't touched Elden Ring in some time but a few hours into this video I got excited and hyped about it all over again and took a break from watching to play the game. And now I'm also considerably more amped for the DLC. Thank you for making this. Fromsoftware and their games are always fascinating to learn about, even outside of just playing the games.
Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
this changed my life fr
Just finished the entire video.
We appreciate the work you did for this documentary. I love it.
Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
12 hours?
Yes. This is certainly one of the video game essays of all time.
Haha..thanks! :)
What an epic video! Thank you so much for putting it together, must have been a massive endeavour!
My pleasure! Thank you! :)
Dude I've got so invested in the story of de subredditer and the leaker that I'm sad now I know they didn't got to secure the name of Elden Ring, I'm just at the beginning of this video and I'm enjoying it so much... Holy crap...
Thanks!
Been waiting for this video. Cannot believe it’s over 12 hours long. Thank you!
My pleasure! Thank you! :)
Perfect for picture-in-picture while playing Elden Ring. Amazing work!
thank you for your hard work on this, sincerely. will be enjoying this content for years to come. it's the perfect go to video for passive watching and background ambience 😊👍
My pleasure! Thank you! :)
well that's the rest of my day sorted - can't wait to watch. grateful for these videos as always.
My pleasure! Thank you! :)
1 video to get me all the way through work!
if you think ima listen to all 12 hours of this you already know !
Your videos have really made the past days very pleasant thanks to me being able to hear all of them for hours and hours while working. I think I speak for everyone, but your research skills are another level. This game was already my latest trauma and in a few days you've given me as much to enjoy as The Tarnished Archeologist, Vaatidvya and SmoughTown, as well as others. Very awesome work! I hope there are more documentaries like this that I can listen to for days.
Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
Finally, the full documentary is here. Sorry, I haven't watched the shorter one, but this will be the watch for sure. Thanks
My pleasure! Thank you! :)
Great job as always! I'm 100% sure you spent a lot of time working on this and
everything in the video was so interesting, thank you!
Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
impressive video. you covered so much, and each segment had me more and more intrigued. keep it up
Thanks! :)
Man this is great keep this up man! Freakin love this stuff I listen to this for my 12 hour work shift so this is perfect
1:07:25 I'm literally crying at miyazaki talk about martin talking like old friends, this is how i know when i have a good friend is when you can talk to them for hours and never run out of things to talk about as if you have known each other for years and had only just met, both of these guys are creatively inspiriting and emotionally moving, great video so far, I'll have to finish when I wake up later.
Thank you! :)
I’ll be watching this in bits and pieces in the next few weeks but damn, very impressive
I'm grateful to be alive to watch this video, fine work man. Thank you❤
A 12hr documentary video must equate to at least 1200 hours of researching and editing! Well done! Way to keep it interesting and face paced, yet very informative! You deserve 1,200,000 subscribers!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Masterpiece of a video on a masterpiece of a game. Props man, I can’t imagine how long this took you but you’ve earned my sub. Keep up the great work!
Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
Only thirty minutes in and it's already one of the greatest videos. Thanks for this.
Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
Your content is incredibly thorough. Good luck on your new project !
Thanks for the support!
The seminars are super interesting as someone who is in a CS field
can't imagine how much work it was to put this together. thanks so much for making my weekend ❤️
My pleasure! Thank you! :)
You or the team you work with worked very hard on this. This is such a gem to the coming community and will be watched for decades documenting the import history behind this not just a masterpiece but an epic masterpiece meaning is a extremely large masterpiece of a game far surpassing other masterpieces. Thank you so so so much for this.
Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
1:23:20 this was the best time during the wait,
'the hollowing period' where there's Mordecai too who posts daily elden ring news, great time
Just EPIC! Thank you so much!!!
My pleasure! Thank you! :)
This is absolutely epic and I have to say I'm really looking forward to seeing what you come up with for the game design videos!

The first hollow's madness was just epic😂😂😂
Haha..yeah! :)
Good god man, you've really outdone yourself this time. Amazing.
Thanks! :)
Great Video! You are making history here!
The most epic game deserves the most epic RUclips video. Well done!
Thank you! :)
12h long content, length of an entire Netflix series dedicated to our favourite game. You are no less impressive, Dondon.
I am so glad to be on holiday right now, thank you for this feast of a video :)
Hope you enjoyed it!
Stunning! Thank you Tarnished
My pleasure! Thank you! :)
An epic and fascinating journey. Thank you.
My pleasure! Thank you! :)
Thanks for this amazing work 🙏🏻
This is absolutely incredible. Thank you for your hard work.
Thanks!
Thank you for this 🙏 I hope this endeavor was as enriching and enlightening to make, as it is to watch and absorb.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Shoutout to the thumbnail artist. Reminds me a bit of Yoshitaka Amano's iconic artwork for the Final Fantasy games (I think it's Ranni's face that reminds me of it), and this art of Ranni looks really cool!
I'm 40 minutes in and I absolutely love how thorough your documentary style is. It looks like you are only focused on soulslikes so far but I'm really hoping you branch out into other popular game franchises. Regardless, you've gained a new subscriber.
Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
Absolute joy to listen to. Its like a trip down memory lane about an age when we were all anticipating the next Souls game. You also happen to sound eerily similar to Ratatoskr.
Thank you! :)
I’m an hour into this video, incredible stuff man, thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE!!!!
Thanks! :)
Holy shit. I hope this gets the traction it deserves. Incredible work.
Thank you! :)
This popped up in my recommended and i couldnt be happier. Watched from start to finish. Last night i started it, watched for a couple of hours and ended up falling asleep to it haha. After waking up early on this cold Sunday morning i grabbed a coffee and rewound it back to where i left off last night. Just finished it now. This was an amazing watch.
Elden Ring was my first souls game and im so glad I didn't have to endure that longgg wait all the souls vets had to lol. Showing what it was like during the years prior to release was quite interesting. I only found out about Elden Ring about 3 days after release when a friend of mine got it and raved about it in the group chat. I did some research and figured it's worth a try, even though i had never played anything like it. I was also really intrigued because i had seen George R.R. Martin had been heavily involved (big Game of Thrones fan). I was sold. Bought it a week after it released and i never looked back. Elden Ring, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Sekiro are my top 3 now. I just purchased an old ps4 and a copy of ps4 greatedt hits Bloodborne. Hopefully that keeps me occupied whilst we wait for Shadow of the Erdtree.
That sentiment is so true though, to be able to somehow clear your memory of the first time playing the game just so you could experience it for the first time again would be wonderful.
Cheers man! Your hard work has not gone unnoticed!
Thanks for sharing! Very interesting read from the point of view of a recent Souls fan! :)
Exact thing I needed to get me back on another playthru. Thank you sir!
My pleasure! Thank you! :)
12 hours!
Madlad
This really is incredible... but a 3 hour summary version would be nice too.. I've been watching this for 4 days!
Got a new subscriber right here. I came after watching your Sekiro video. I loved it and nearly lost my shit when i went to your page and saw this GLORIOUS 12hr video. My jaw dropped and I got immediately excited. Thank you for your hard work. Great quality, man!
Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
Yes! Been waiting for this to drop! Let’s go!
Haha..let's goooo! :)
How long I've been waiting for this video! Thank you for all your hard work! Your job is very underrated. As a self-learner designer, artist and writer I really am interested in such a thing as games development. It is one of my dreams actually, to become one day a game director.
And a special thanks to you to add an info about soundtrack. As for me, music is an undeservedly underestimated point. You know, I currently rereading Berserk manga. And I desided to turn on Elden Ring OST in the process. Guess what! It fits so perfectly! Like, Astel theme (espetially 2 half) is perfect for God Hand first appearence. Or Godskin dou is perfectly fitting for Guts vs Rosine fight.
In any way. It was a fascinating journey, spending with you on this channel. Now, if I'm not mistaking, you are going to "transform" your channel. Change the person of discussion. I don't know, or (sorry) don't remember who is that gonna be. But I am ready for your next essay and next inspiring real life story. Keep up your good work!
Thanks for the feedback and sharing! Yes, after this long video, the channel will transform :) (The next uploads will reflect that change!)
Woah. Idk who this guy is but a 12 hour video on ER will always earn a subscription
+nika pfp
Damn, you really put in the effort for this one. Really appreciate your work!
Holy moly. You are truly a treasured soul!
Incredible work on one of the best games ever, and incredible documentation on the best Director/Studio in the gaming industry!!
My pleasure! Thanks! :)
I'm halfway point, and what a great video. Definitely watching to the end.
Thanks!
@dondonrv thank you for making the best making of Elder Ring documentary. I can't even imagine how long it must have taken you to do it.
Finally finished watching the whole thing! As a professional animator I would have loved to have seen more about how they do cinematics but I'm still impressed with the cg seminar info. And super surprised by how much went into getting the right voice talent and how much of an impact localization can contribute, super well done video guys!
Glad it was helpful!
Damn this is amazing thank you. I recently learned of my interests in the creators of media I like. Fascinating to me. Thanks for this long video, I’m sure it took a lot of work.
Thanks!
This channel deserves 1 million followers. Whew. This took dedication 😂 well done
Haha.. Thanks! :)
Beautiful video man
Appreciate it!
actually genuinely oh my gosh, 12 hours? this video is a GOLDMINE
Thanks! :)
It's criminal you've got less than a million subs, keep it up this is great content. 🔥
Hahaha..Thank you!
I'm watching ALL this. Love your videos man.
Thank you! :)
How am I getting to know this exist only now?! Respect for the great work👍
Normally I wouldn't be interested in watching a documentary, that too for 20+ hours. But you put so much time and effort into these videos that I couldn't help but go through the entire "Making of Souls" series. And the fact that the whole playlist is FREE on the internet is another fortuitous event!
These videos were insightful and inspiring. Thank you for sharing then with the world. Please make more documentaries about other games and studios. Would love to see this channel go BIG!
