- Harley Benton EX 84 review. This Harley Benton EX-84 is similar to a Gibson Explorer or Chapman ghost fret. It comes with Active EMG pickups and locking Grover tuners! An incredible amount of guitar for the money.
This has an EMG81 in the bridge and an EMG 60 in the neck

Love Explorers, had a killer 1999 Gibson Gothic Explorer and LOVED it. These Harley Bentons are great, even at the $189 ones that come with the active roz pups. The body is smaller then Gibsons and MUCH lighter (I'm a heavy guitar guy).
Great video as always mate! Absolutely love how EMGs sound haha. Suits what I play. Can't remember the last time I played clean stuff lol. Great playing too! Good stuff. Be interesting to hear how that amp is. They do a lot of electronicy stuff. Look forward to that!

@@PherotoneStudios Yeah, the roasted maple neck on my Fusion Pro III is superb. Other necks feel crap now in comparison.
I know how you feel. I recently got a strat with a roasted maple neck and it’s just so much nicer than the other necks

Always wanted an Explorer but I never was a huge fan of the Gibson sound *ducks* and anyway this is my next buy lol
At least this model has a more typical fretboard radius of 12", unlike a lot of HBs that have 13.8", which makes them feel fatter.
Will you be sanding the gloss finish off the neck and spray a satin finish on the neck??
...but PRS says tonewood makes all the difference. They even knock on several different chunks of wood and they all make different sounds....so tonewood IS important....for when you play the guitar...by beating it....with a hammer. Yea tonewood make NO difference in an electric..deal.
After the first notes, arrogant me: basswood, sounds like basswood! Now I will look up on their web site, will be right back.
Edit, 5 Min. later- I was wrong: it‘ s mahogany…😏🤷🏻♂️…
Oh, and the fretboard is stated as ebony.
Also, if some say it‘s neck heavy, there is quite a difference if on the strap or on the lap…

I’m surprised too. Nice woods. Mine doesn’t neck dive sitting or on a strap but other people have commented saying that theirs does. Think I was just lucky.

What material does this guitar have frets from? Somewhere they say that stainless steel, somewhere nickel silver. If steel, then I'm ready to buy it right now.
