I’ve been wanting a macgregor for a few years now. Just have to find the right deal. Would be my first boat and it just seems like the perfect trailer sailer. Nice boat buddy!
Hello! The Macgregor has been a lot of fun with a lot of capabilities. Good luck finding the right deal. I found this one on marketplace after seeing a couple RUclips vids. Thanks for watching!
I also have a 26-X and found your most recent video before looking up this one when you first got the boat. You make great use of your boat. I should try to do some similar stuff with mine. You're invited to a dock party if you ever get to Merritt island.
Hello, Thank you for the nice comment and the invite! I grew up in Cocoa Beach so I do visit from time to time. Thaks for watching and have fun with the 26X.
Hello Vet Doc, This one came with the boat, I think most X and M models have a dodger of some type, but I am no expert. It is really nice to have for sure. Thanks, and thanks for watching!
Great to see a new video from you Chris. Congrats on the 26x. I always loved those boats. Lots of space for their size and they can really move with a 50. Have you ever considered getting one of those hatch air conditioners? You generstor can run it no problem. Looking forward to more videos.
Hello Fred! Thanks for watching. Actually I have a hatch style drop in Air Conditioner, and yes the Bluetti does power it fine. As the weather cools I decided to take it off as it is cumbersome. Thanks again! New video coming today!
I was a R.N. for 25 years. I had a patient who was an outboard engineer. He said he worked mostly for Mercury but worked for OMC, too. I asked the expected life of my Mercury 2 stroke 25 hp. He didn't even hesitate. .... "6,000 hours. We put them on a stand. Hook up fuel. Put lower unit in water. Then, run them until they blow. 5,000 to 6,000 minimum." After I met him.... I no longer cared about "hours." I only cared about the "type" of hours. Did the previous owner keep up with maintenance???? The most dangerous thing for an outboard is sitting. Run it, and it will never die. If you did The Great Loop, which is 5,000 miles ... And did it at 10 mph... that's only 500 hours. At 15 mph? 333 hours.... That gives you an idea how much life that engine has.... if you do maintenance, listen to her, and treat her right..... You will die first. Enjoy it. I enjoyed the clip. I tapped the thumbs up 👍 button to feed the algorithm monsters.
Hello, Wow, I would never have guessed. So if properly cared for a person should get years and years of life. I hope this 50 hangs in there, cylinder pressure is still good, reed valves seem good. Thanks for this info, nice to hear form the actual person that knows the test procedure. Great info and thanks so much for watching!
Cool boat. I've been looking to get into sailing and initially dismissed the Macgregor, but the versatility looks great, especially for where I'd be sailing. How is it in waves? KCCO!
Hello! It does fairly well in waves actually. It is not the best sailor as it has a planing hull, but that gives it the versatility! Lots of options with this boat and you can find them at a reasonable price too. Thanks for watching!
Hello Swanee! I use a 25lb Mantus M2. It works well and I can dis/assemble with one bolt and it will fit is the shallow locker at the bow. Thanks for watching! (i have another video where I show it. ruclips.net/video/2XESUWMu9ww/видео.html
Hello, I use a dry system as I refuse to use the porta potties, way too gross. A dry system is how truck drivers have operated for many years. A new bucket lined with two heavy duty scented 8 gallon bags, a full sized toilet seat, a little cat litter in the bottom. Tie up inner bag and repeat. Works great! Thanks for watching!
Hello Charles! lol, coming to a video sometime in the future! (the sails are in a humidity controlled environment and the mast/boom are also covered and stored away for now) The equipment is in near perfect condition. Thanks for watching!
Hello Astro, A padlock has been added to my boat and I believe it is a common addition. It is placed between the removable fiberglass passageway cover and the sliding cover. It works fine, but honestly if someone really wants in they will. Thanks for watching!
Comment #2 I don't know the Texas laws. In Florida..... It is illegal to dump piss or poop overboard. But, it is LEGAL to piss or poop over the rail. I heard that from SENATOR Marco Rubio when he called in to my friend's fishing talk radio show. Personally??? In the middle of a bay or ocean with current and tides, seems harmless. In a marina? That would be uncool. In a fresh water river where algae bloom kills fish... especially in the summer.... extra uncool.
Hello, this is really interesting information. So you can pee overboard, but if you pee in a bottle and dump it overboard, that's illegal, lol - that's crazy but I believe it. I would never poo in the water and hope no one else does in our waterways, just hate to run into that!. Thanks for the info, I had no idea this was the case. Thanks also for watching!
Hey - saw your boat over at Ft. McRee, Pensacola. If you are traveling west, you must stop by Pirate's Cove in Roberts Bayou (just off Perdido Bay). Come by and have a drink with the Sailors at the Cove! Neil SV Midnight Sun III www.youtube.com/@SailingSVMidnightSunIII
