Holy shit the end of this episode is fucking insane. I'm so glad Neal is getting his time in the spotlight. Dude has been writing some of the best jokes / sketches for YEARS now and just flew under the radar. One of the most underrated writers of today's era in my opinion. Huge fan.
I loved that Neal got the space to talk about this experience without getting interrupted with shitty jokes any other second. Schulz felt that some real shit was told and held back. Nice!

I relate so much with Neal Brennan. I found myself desperate enough as well, and decided to take the 5 meo dmt experience back in 2019. Like Neal said, im not entirely sure it didn't hurt me, but it definitely shook me up and felt like a sort of death and rebirth. Neal you are an inspiration.
I didn't do DMT like Brennan but I had something similar when I did shrooms as a teen where I had a breakthrough realization about life and knew I couldn't kill myself because I knew I was here for eternity, but I had this existential dread that I needed to resign to and make peace with, where I saw with absolute certainty that everything was ironic and that no matter what I chose to do I couldn't escape the irony because everything was entangled together like the symbol for infinity where it loops back on itself or the snake eating its own tail, or the concept that the entirety of the universe wraps in on itself back into the smallest particle that simultaneously composes it.
I was lesser-dosing lsd and partying for multiple weeks straight last summer. Someone gave me a drink filled with something ekstra. Neal's explenation to what the experienced is (his way and dose is way great, and bigger) but the closest to my understanding iv heard someone explain it. I'm still recovering after 5-6 months. buuuut i think i had some latent memories i never processed which made me scitz out. Favorite memory from the experience. "Without darkness, no light, without light no dark. And so we dance and play music, for it is the ultimate balance between the two." This was after i had a hard time grasping Alpha and Omega states (at the time i didn't see nothing but swirls (mandelbrots), one light, one dark. TLDR: The dance of two ultimates is neverending. Learning self-controll is balance of both.
I'm 26, used to love psychedelics in my very early 20s and that happened to me after a night on LSD and 2cb, I got flashbacks from my trip everyday for months and I eventually came to realise those where not flashbacks but instead just a fear response from my brain cuz I could not fully comprehend what I just got aware of.... it's been a year and a half now, beside the fact I lost my dad 4 months after this experience (I don't know how I did not kill myself) I feel more relieved than ever now, even tho it is hard to take, it slowly is getting along with my mind. Lesson is : sometimes you just have to let go and don't try to stay the same cuz everything is constant change, even your perception....keep your values and move on, nothing stays
My pro tip: If youre ever on TOO INTENSE of a drug trip... just take solace in the fact that you scored some good-ass drugs. Always makes me feel better. I have many issues with depression and a colorful past with it. When i watch shows like this it makes me feel like im not alone. I TRY DESPERTLY to connect with people around me. I work in video games but in my life people have come in and left as a constant. I struggle to have a friend connection despite my efforts. So in a large part hearing this conversation really hits the heart for me. Watching you guys and your close friendship with the guys makes me FEEL LESS ALONE. almost like im part of that group. I have no doubts others feel and respond exactly as i do which is very toxic in a way because we lack these groups of our own lives so here we are. This is why people seem to like the terms to be part of this army, or this group or this idea which this show sells and does well. Ironically watching Andrew and friends talk to comics here is so much more real then i see on other pod casts. Example is joe rogan.. i stopped watching joe cause it got less about knowledge to me and more about JOE and friends and preaching. You saw people you dont care about, dont learn, dont find funny and cant connect with. I mean this show has made me feel and understand why people get connections with youtube celebs. Happy thanks giving.
I agree with you 100% Andrew has an amazing ability to connect with anyone and it's an inspiration to me. We all need to learn from him and the guys in this podcast.
Can we take a moment and appreciate how Flagrant drops epsiodes weekly and rarely misses a drop where as Brilliant Idiots is consistently late to even notify us that there won't be an episode?
I did Bufo but I did it after 10 years of psychotherapy and a few Ayahuasca ceremonies, so I came very ready. it was unbelievable. I could see how my thoughts are constructs, my own identity was gone so I just existed, I was part of everything, of the universe. it makes you see existence in a bigger scale then you are used to. I wouldn't reccomend doing this without going to therapy for a while, and doing Ayahuasca first.
Neal was having HPPD with the psychedelics. This is why people with mental health issues that were medicated should be very safe with these. He was self prescribing himself this drug that doesn't have enough research to even make a good guess to being safe. It is a great example of how psychedelics can backfire in a brutal way. Stay safe everyone and understand the risk of taking something can rapidly produce neurological change.
I liked Neil saying his 5 meo dmt trip was like a computer doing a hard reset. All the computer knows and will ever know is codes its being fed, then it gets shut down and still is 'aware' and doesn't know how to compute 'nothingness'
I experienced this after an acid trip that showed me the end, for 18 months i felt no hapiness or joy from anything and was overcome by an emptiness and despair i can't begin to explain.
"We don't have any clue what's happening." If you've had doses like that, you can't really disagree... "What are you? What am I? What is anything?" I had the experience of asking these exact questions in that exact sequence.
I love that when someone gives their opinion or view, even in a word or two, Andrew jumps to "what do you mean by that", great listener. So many people jump to their own opinions and conclusions/interpretations nowadays.
this happened to me but it was just a mixture of psychosis, an eating disorder, depression, existential crisis that only lasted for a few months and like him, my 2700 ug dose of acid hit me again a little bit after the trip finished like a month or two later. The thought of infinity and anything that would even tease the orientation of how big infinity actually is would make me feel terrible and hearing about someone elses trip almost broke me one time. I was even watching a show on the "afterlife" to desensitize myself and had a panic attack the whole time.
Schulz is 100% right about the screen shotting on Netflix. All of the content is available for piracy the day it releases anyway, allow people who use your platform to meme and share the content.
I love Neal I’ll watch anything he’s on just because I enjoy his presence and sense of humor so much. Wish akaash was here tho.. why does he miss all of the best guests??
I think Brennan is mistaken, religion isn't the missing piece but having access to an IRL community in which its framework is built upon compassion, empathy, acceptance, and service towards others. We are more connected digitally than we've ever been but at the same point more physically disconnected than we've ever been. We're bombarded with so much information, messaging, and data daily due to the ubiquity of internet and obsessive compulsion to be glued to our devices. Most people don't know how to live in the present, in the moment but instead we are either haunted by our past (dwelling on things) or concerned, apprehensive, nervous, and unsure about the future (anxiety). Build a network, a positive and loving community where you live/work. You can find kinship and camaraderie with others that people in the past maybe would have found during the practice of religion. Connectiveness with others can not be achieved adequately through a screen.
If there is no god why would anyone do anything that isnt in their best interest? There is no morality without religion leaving you with two options: being delusional or machiavellian.
@@Laocoon283 I'm an atheist. I don't follow nor practice any organized popular religion. And yet I still have and practice empathy, kindness and concern for others. I don't need religion to be a good caring person. I'm still team human. I still have morals and values. I don't need them prescribed to me via commandments.
@@alexandermacneil4430 Yea I know lol. What I am saying is you are only behaving that way because it's in your best interests or because your acting out a delusion.
@@Laocoon283 Delusions...like religion? They can't all be true can they? Surely if you're a devout Catholic you think Muslims are delusional right? There can only be one true religion right? We can replace religion, its purpose in society...or more specifically the benefits such brings. They are reproducible in other ways, other methods.
So hilarious as an old school psychedelic warrior to hear people learn about god and the world now. It’s like are y’all really just now learning this stuff?
What Neal is describing is #ego #dissolution (ego death). Some call it spiritual awakening, enlightenment, etc... the point is all the identities one identifies their "self (ego)" with suddenly are removed and revealed to be illusions. Having nothing for your ego to grab onto to indentify itself is what makes these experiences uncomfortable. It's like being thrown into a pool when you don't know how to swim and then trying to breath under water. The ego centric rules we require to function (i.e name, race, sex) and be a part of the societies we created suddenly stop meaning anything & true #objectively is forced on your consciousness by the stripping away of all your #subjective ego centered identities. That's why people on ayahuasca find themselves asking "what/who am l?".
@@inFiniteTraCer l could use your own logic on YOUR comment & say "imagine having the ego that feels the need to call out other's egos"🤷🏾♂️... But ultimately that approach leads us BOTH nowhere but an unnecessary time wasting ego battle. See, I am here to share and get #INFORMATION, not focus on you personally, as they say: " *Great minds discuss IDEAS... small minds discuss PEOPLE.* " Perhaps instead of projecting and trying to attack me #PERSON-ally as you did, you could ask self(ego), why it(your ego) felt the need to focus on me but NOT the #IDEAS l shared?🤔 If the information l gave is false l am open to correction, everything out side of the information/data is just YOU projecting on to me(a soul you don't know). Was there any false information in what l wrote? If so let's discuss that(IDEAS) and leave our egos out of it. Can you do that sir/ma'am?
@@MylezNevison get trolled kid. waste of time, yet you type all that? Hahahaha hit a nerve? You took it personally...and i was actually making a point that went over your head....but of course you prove it further by falling for it and going all-in. Talking about ego dissolution yet explaining a bunch of garbage when no one asked. Irony. But yeah you say so much but somehow say nothing. Cool story, bro. Youre so smart we are so proud.
Gas prices are higher because Biden shut down the Keystone Pipeline. We have record low on diesel. At the end of the day we need actual candidates that understand economics and this current economy.
I mean……corporate profits account for almost 60% of all inflation currently. So while this may be true, you can also thank the oil industry for literally forcing you to pay for their fourth yacht.
@@rykersimmons9549 wait, you think the Keystone Pipeline doesn't exist?? It pumped crude oil from Canada to the US since 2008 until Biden shut it down. Idiot.
This was Neal's best podcast appearance. He was absolutely hilarious. This is how guests should be. Just funny and quick and just fun to listen to. Not plugging their whatever every second. Not FOR THE MOST PART retelling stories they have already told (besides his dmt experience) . Neal is a very interesting guy like he just seems like he would not be able to take jokes so well and fire back so good. His special on Netflix was really good. It was really different which I thought was interesting to watch plus it was pretty funny. I would say definitely check it out if you have not seen it. I am gonna put it on later after eating Thanksgiving when my family is here to get their opinion on it.
Neal's experience on DMT is so similar to an experience I had on LSD. It was life changing and traumatizing, but It changed me for the better. I don't think I'd ever do it again tho. Even the part about laughing gas at the dentist hit home. I've talked to so many people who couldn't relate. If took me about 6 months for the "flash backs" to subside.
I had it with LSD as well. The again 10 years later with 5meo. Absolutely paint peeling brutal. I don’t really understand the concept of regret though. So in that sense I’d do it again because I accept what’s here now.
I'm spending my 80 years experiencing love, people, nature, how good a body in shape feels to run and laugh and play. I'm not wasting my time on fame and fortune..I'm comfortable. I live off my talent and I love to learn. People say there's no such thing as magic and to that I say "Are you sure your really looking? Maybe you need to really think on what the meaning of magic is, cuz its everywhere. I think the only absolute waste of a life is the one that willows in its pain such that it has to spread it to others. Those greedy, selfish, sad, insecure people are really missing the magic of where we are. What we are. The fact the we exist on this tiny little Noah's ark of a planet. Hurtling through space, casting our eyes outward looking...for anything. The fact that we have accomplished all that we have accomplished and are going to accomplish still is mind blowing. Then add on top of that how eventually there won't even be a trace of us or all we learned left behind. Just open empty space. If there are other beings out there looking, we might be gone before they can make it here. AI, I think, will be the only way to spread our knowledge or leave a mark somewhere that says "we were here" once apon a time and hopefully we have been successful in casting our little seed, our AI people, into the void with all of human understanding and our histories with them. Hopefully, even though we will likely be gone by then destroyed by our own greed or just dumb bad luck. It won't all be for nothing. Maybe something we learn, and pass on, will save the next civilization from whatever fate is waiting for them. Idk.
The observations they made about the way Kevin Hart’s specials are filmed is spot on.. Kevin’s specials are honestly painful to watch these days because it’s pretty clear is focus is on acting, but Neal and Andrew are absolutely on point about the way he’s got the camera changes and all of the zoom ins and close ups all perfectly dialed in and it engages the shit out of the audience. It’s kind of a weird comparison, but large scale churches have been doing this exact thing for decades. They’ll pack a service full of thousands of people, and then use all these different camera angles and well timed zoom ins and all that stuff to make it feel like every person in there is on stage with the pastor. I’m not religious, but my Mom goes to one of those super churches where they have 50 foot screens, and this shit always creeped me out lol.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! Here's a little something for you to watch while you're basting those turkeys. Comment down below for the algo!

I experienced this after an acid trip that showed me the end, for 18 months i felt no hapiness or joy from anything and was overcome by an emptiness and despair i can't begin to explain.
Happy thanksgiving everyone! I hope everyone has an incredible day🙏🏻 eat good and party hard
Lmao therapist Schulzy
the ending bit of this podcast was amazing
Literally got on RUclips just hoping and wishing maybe they’ll drop! Best surprise ever thankful af for flagrant
this happened to me but it was just a mixture of psychosis, an eating disorder, depression, existential crisis that only lasted for a few months and like him, my 2700 ug dose of acid hit me again a little bit after the trip finished like a month or two later.
Bro that’s why I’m just on some nah keep talking bih. You’re good at it. Idgaf what you say. Just keep your damn hands off me🤷🏽♂️
Neal might be the only one that tamed the whole crew down. Incredible episode and choice of guest guys
Loving the podcast!
Damn. Was just talking about whippets earlier🤣
Neal explains the most intense ego death plus god experience. gives me chills.
This the feds ^^^
@@Cswizzler forreal lol
I think you’re on the spectrum
Neal .
“ you should meet my dinosaurs “😂😂😂😂
I love Neal I’ll watch anything he’s on just because I enjoy his presence and sense of humor so much. Wish akaash was here tho.. why does he miss all of the best guests??
Shortage of chairs..?
@@alexandermacneil4430 yes like religion... moral atheists are just as delusional as religious zealots. I'm not religious.
We gotta normalize not giving an introduction after saying “they need no introduction”
Thanks for the gift boys! Enjoy!
Just finished watching the special. Neal Brennan is a deep guy and hilarious
Y'all a little detached rn.
Prices are so high, stocks down bad, interest rates up high, a war... The middle class is being eradicated atm
If I was asked to picture a male Biden voter with money it would prob be Neil.
Thanks for the episode! Love Neal ❤️
Neal’s so comfortable in his awkwardness he made the worst dap of all time look smooth 😂
Wow the end if the podcast. What an amazing journey
Love when y'all have comedians on!
This guy does comedy?
@@chrisstapleton3447 Yeah. I met him around the back sucking off the team
Dudes not a comedian
@@10oner yeah, because you know comedy 😂
So hilarious as an old school psychedelic warrior to hear people learn about god and the world now. It’s like are y’all really just now learning this stuff?
That derealisation/depersonalization that Neal was talking about sounds like an existentialism OCD cycle
Tuning out for this one again. This guy is completely detached and you guys seem to be going further left.
Guy is not even living kn the same reality needs rehab
Love Neal Brennan. If I were co-creator and head writer alongside Dave Chappelle for Chappelle's Show I would not stop the flex.
Very unexpected, and much appreciated my bois
Imagine having the ego to mansplain this hahaha
Is that why he’s such a beta liberal cuck boy?
@@inFiniteTraCer l could use your own logic on YOUR comment & say "imagine having the ego that feels the need to call out other's egos"🤷🏾♂️... But ultimately that approach leads us BOTH nowhere but an unnecessary time wasting ego battle. See, I am here to share and get #INFORMATION, not focus on you personally, as they say:
" *Great minds discuss IDEAS... small minds discuss PEOPLE.* "
Perhaps instead of projecting and trying to attack me #PERSON-ally as you did, you could ask self(ego), why it(your ego) felt the need to focus on me but NOT the #IDEAS l shared?🤔 If the information l gave is false l am open to correction, everything out side of the information/data is just YOU projecting on to me(a soul you don't know).
Man. The "emotionally desperate". That hits. Wish they had more time to talk about the really interesting psychedelic and cultural stuff.
This episode feels so much better to listen to. It's probably because Akash is not there.
Thanks Neal! I got 2 Apple Bee ads during this podcast
Thankful for a Flagrant ep on Thanksgiving
Is there convo of the data trip? Or is it just a headline about Neal Brennan?
Gas prices are higher because Biden shut down the Keystone Pipeline. We have record low on diesel. At the end of the day we need actual candidates that understand economics and this current economy.
Nailed it.
I mean……corporate profits account for almost 60% of all inflation currently. So while this may be true, you can also thank the oil industry for literally forcing you to pay for their fourth yacht.
@@FortinInk you bought into BernieBro logic there...
How did a pipeline that didn't exist that would move oil that wouldn't be turned into gasoline or diesel not getting built cause gas prices to rise?
@@rykersimmons9549 wait, you think the Keystone Pipeline doesn't exist?? It pumped crude oil from Canada to the US since 2008 until Biden shut it down. Idiot.
"Oh God why?" and "a dios MiO" were so beautifully timed
No man, 14:43 the “Plants” promo was a great joke they didn’t wanna laugh at lmao I’m dyin
Don’t try to shame Neal for being curious. He’s still reintegrating after his experience ❤
“What am I, what are you, what is anything”. Then RUclips cuts to commercial selling furniture.
I always thought Neal was funny but his hair cut is hilarious 😂
I went looking for this comment specifically 😂😂😂

From 10:01 to 10:20. Pure laughter. Great pod
We needed 3h of this for sure❤
I saw the thumbnain and title and was like.....yesssir the night is set💯🔥

These YT ads are destroying me right now
Neal Brennan: "Voting for Biden is voting for normalcy."
Pandemic and a recession. Glad Neal is doing so well he isn't affected by anything.
that bit he was talking about with Seth made me want to find out more about him saying he went too far on the bufo
51:50 "They all look the same" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Mark ffs 🤣🤣🤣
Neal’s hair looks like Matteo had brain surgery 😂😂😂
nice thumbnail change...you know who butters dat bread lol.
missing the man Aakash gotta have him to make it a full pod
Facts Balance ⚖️
