  • In one of Thor’s adventures, he goes on a journey with the giant Útgarða-Loki, who challenges Thor to perform seemingly impossible tasks. One of these challenges is for Thor to drink from a large horn that seems never-ending. Despite Thor’s immense strength, he struggles to make a noticeable dent in the horn, which seems to hold an endless supply of liquid.
It is later revealed that the horn was actually connected to the ocean, and Thor was drinking seawater. The reason he didn’t finish it was that he was unknowingly drinking from the entire ocean. In the myth, this act actually causes the tides-whenever Thor tried to drink, he lowered the water level, creating the ebb and flow of the sea. Thor, unaware of the true nature of the challenge, never managed to drain the ocean, but the event showed his immense strength and endurance.
