Meris take it up to script to editing/posting and I think they are even... well. Almost. Granted my entire group plays serious life gain... so our games take forever. It takes milling out, even after we all use tricks to get out graveyards back into our library
From my experience, each new player multiplies the time by 1.5. A four-player game lasts about an hour so that would make a 7 player game last for at least 3 hours and 22 and a half minutes.

It's cool coming back to this video and seeing how starkly different the Commander format is now. Starting the video with a player saying they had to make concessions to their theme in order to get all the colors really cements how much WotC has printed more and more Legendary creatures to fill all sorts of niches in all color combos makes this immediately apparent.
I like Kathleen's little "only one who was any good in the colours" justification when a quick scryfall check shows that, these days, there 5 Naya cat commanders, with Rin and Seri, Inseparable and Jetmir, Nexus of Revels in particular being very heavily focused on having large numbers of cats. Heck, Jetmir would have turned that horde of 15 1/1s into 15 4/1s with vigilance, trample and double strike. Would it have been enough to win there and then? not sure, but spreading it all out would have potentially crippled Paul's ability to ally with Alex or Matt by virtue of heavily denting their boardstates.
I just realized how many archetypes they demonstrate in this video: The Theme deck The Voltron deck The Control deck The Precon deck The Tribal deck The Combo deck and the Tribal deck again
I remember when I was playing against a guy whose life total was over 1k. I casted Sorin Markov, reduced his life total to 10. And then casted Sorin's vengeance.... killing him lol
Shit. Let me tell you the story of my people. Three player commander,one guy with Damia, one with Daretti, and me with Sliver Overlord. Everyone built up a strong board position, I had my commander out, and had a pretty decent horde building up, but then everything changed when Warp World hit the field. Everyone shuffled their stuff back into their decks, and got their new stuff. Damia gets 6 dudes and 5 lands, Daretti gets 5 dudes/artifacts, and 4 lands, I get 10 slivers and a land. after getting taken apart due to my lack of mana base for a couple of turns, I finally managed to get up to five land. Okay, I can handle this. Bearer of the Heavens. No way to stop him. Damia gets Temporal Trespass, resolves it, but declines to do anything with it, for entertainment value, and Bearer gets sacced. All permanents gone, no lands in hand, top deck Reflecting pool. FUUUUUUUUUUUU

Always team up with the guy who goes before you in the turn order. That way you guarantee at least one turn. It’s far too easy for the guy right after you to betray you
What I wouldn't give to see skits of 8 player commander games again, with the multitudes of new commander potentials available now I bet LRR could come up with some funny decks for skits
I was that guy once, keep doing that til he learns! not everybody totally gets the "playing for fun" aspect. maybe he only sees "win" and "lose". I did for a long time. Now I got a deck I call "Good Game". It has zero win conditions, just walls and card draw n jank, no way to attack. I just try to see if I can deck myself before my opponents defeat me (as my secret "win-con"), I built it so other people could win, and I just had fun trying to stay in the game :) I don't let my opponents know that tho :P It can be real nice not expecting to win, then nothing tilts you during the game! Oh noes! You played Armageddon! That's cool. GG

I adopted "I ain't saying she's a gravedigger, but she certainly pulls creatures out of the graveyard with startling efficiency" as the name of my Whisper, Blood Liturgist deck.
Watching these old episodes, you miss Cameron's neurotic behavior and tendency to enjoy board control more than one should. I could see him playing Talrund or Leovold in EDH... ...and the episode being 2hrs of groaning and flying tables.
MSUHitman I meant the other players' boards. I find it hard to believe mono-black and Zedruu have nothing that dies to Pyroclasm. There's a reason it's in Kathleen's deck, after all. At the very least, I'd have expected her to call out that a pyroclasm happened to the others.
My favorite and most played Commander deck is "Om-nom-nom-nath". Basically a devour/ big stompy thing, Omnath deck. I was one of the only few around here who didn't drop Omnath as a general in favor of Azusa after the Prime Titan got banned.
Yes! My first commander was a pre-built political puppets too. It's gone through some serious renovations, but it's still what inspired me to choose Azorius for my guild in RTR.

Now that I actually know something about magic, I'm trying to follow everyone's steps here. The one question I have is this: At the end, Matt taps out all his creatures putting up a wall of flying blockers. What white card does that?
I agree, james said he cast extinction and declared angel, if there were any wall, it would've block his commander. Matt got too cocky, if he had luminarch ascension he should've wait for james to attack then send out blockers, tapping yourself out when you don't need to is a rookie mistake
Hmm I think entreat the angels is much more likely, as it is a sorcery speed and requires you to spend a great deal of mana, giving a lot of angels at the same time. Luminarch could be correct but that would mean it had a lot of quest counters, seeing how he said it was a wall/bunch of angels.
Well, in a seven player game, having the necessary four counters on Luminarch wouldn't be hard at all. Something Sorcery speed would make sense for him not to have screwed up by not waiting, but they don't show him playing a card, so who knows?
I just now noticed the political signs while matt and alex were fighting over who paul should sign with. That was awesome. Its around 4 kin if anyone else wants to see
99 card-singleton + your general who you can play at any time. (You don't necessarily have to build around you general, you could just use it for the colors.)

IT's because in the pre-built commander decks, they use bigger cards to show That HE is the commander, you can see James looking at a box full of them and decks in the video Friday.( in between the rounds)

I agree, james said he cast extinction and declared angel, if there were any wall, it would've block his commander. Matt got too cocky, if he had luminarch ascension he should've wait for james to attack then send out blockers, tapping yourself out when you don't need to is a rookie mistake
Hmm I think entreat the angels is much more likely, as it is a sorcery speed and requires you to spend a great deal of mana, giving a lot of angels at the same time. Luminarch could be correct but that would mean it had a lot of quest counters, seeing how he said it was a wall/bunch of angels.
Well, in a seven player game, having the necessary four counters on Luminarch wouldn't be hard at all. Something Sorcery speed would make sense for him not to have screwed up by not waiting, but they don't show him playing a card, so who knows?
