@@correasilvio2010 No, she was a great Mezzo and also a real Contralto. Her vocal range ranged from D in the third line of the Bass clef to C 6. Three octaves. But she was a Mezzo: the greatest Mezzo of her era. Capable to sing sometimes arias for Soprano, but a gorgeous, magnificent, opulent Mezzo. Nessuna sarà più come lei.
I think this aria is just for mezzo sopranos and not sopranos. Look at the effort Caballe makes when taking the first octava on her video, the same at 0.25 in Obraztsova's video. Obraztsova does it very smooth.

I grew up listening to her lifestories and even besides that i grew up in 90s and 00s Russia. Moreover i live in Russia now. Music unites people of all nationalities, cultures, ethnicities, and beliefs - it is a testament to all the genius of mankind, and brining politics into it just takes away from that. For example, I rarely hear people mention that Elisabeth Schwarzkopf was a nazi, but regardless, I still enjoy her work and masterful artistry, and I certainly don’t waste space in the comment sections talking about her politics.

Obraztsova signed a delation together with numerous artists of the time. Vishnevskaya said it many times herself in numerous interviews i have seen.
