No it's not true. My grandparents were in very average but good conditions we have that value to be happy. In today's society, mostly people will say them as upper castes or privileged but not whatever they can do they did for motherland. He is Retd. Colonel in Army. My family seen ups & downs both. So if today people are greedy & pleasure seeker not patriotic & physically strong then what they will want to serve in such challenging field.

There are different types of wars in the world out of which economic war is one of them.
Gujarati people are fighting economic wars on behalf of India. If we see economic contribution of Gujarat, it is multiple times the average state of India.
Having a strong economy is indirectly contributing to purchase of weapons for armed forces. I have stayed in Gujarat all my life and have seen the business culture development naturally in many youths.

I am serving in armed forces since 5 years and I have met more than lakhs of Jawans and hundreds of officers but till date i have seen only 2 Gujaratis in army.

I am not a gujrati but i have met a lot of gujrati and believe me they are more patriotic, If someone is not interested in joining armed forces that doesn't mean they are not patriotic , If the day comes when they had to they won't hesitate.

I've hardly come across any Guju who do active work. Whether its profession or sports. Most they're in business and services. May be very few of them serve in the army but that's extremely rare.
It depends more on the parenting. Like Keralian parents wants their kids to go to gulf. Punjabi parents wants their kids to go to UK/Canada. Bihari parents wants their kids to become IAS officers. Tamilian parents wants their kids to become engineer or scientist to join ISRO. Likewise Gujarati parents wants their kids to go to USA. I as a Gujarati never got such option from my parents. They only told me to do diploma and become an engineer. As a kids I wanted to become a cricketer, but I ended being a gully champion.

They have there Core competency like we have ours. To Run a Good Army we need Money, Those not joining Armies contribute by Money. What is the Issue

As an Odia i respect Gujurat because they are brainy and they have employed lakhs of Odias in their factories. the main reason is the Rapid urbanization in Gujarat. there is a spirit of Patriotism left only in ruler areas. on the other hand in urban areas, you can notice that business mindset people are not interested in joining forces. I said urbanization in the sense people who live in cities like Ahmedabad and Surat have different Lifestyle and awareness and exposure to military as compared to rular area and there's a cast factor is big here, in Gujarat people who joining forces are mainly Darbar, Rajput and Ahir.. and the number of these people is less then other people who owns motels in USA. And there is big difference in population density by means of urban areas and also cast...

Me a senior citizen of odisha .I feel that no special regiment of odisha is needed for odisha which can create and encourage and help to fulfill more positive and reqired atmosphere which is absent at all.I feel that odisha' s geography and atmosphere makes it a remote area of recruitment for existing regiment.I feel that defence ministry should put extra focus for appointment from odisha jurisdiction only .Though paika people of odisha are warriors by cast,they do not get a proper encouragement.Odisha is currently under vihar regiment.

Years ago, I regularly participated in the Nationals and various Federation level events in a certain sports discipline and competed with people from all States.
And let me tell you, for atleast a decade, the State that dominated, and I mean *Absolutely Dominated* in these competitions was always Gujarat.
I still vividly remember the terror my Gujju competitors would strike in my heart lol
Its players were also in large numbers whenever we had sporadic International training camps in India.
That is why, for me, it is hard to link those great sportsmen and women with Maava and consequently having lower lung capacity.
This only means that Gujjus are very well aware of the cons of consuming this Tobacco filled sweet, but do it anyway.

And those who have a medical condition/ health issues or are sportsmen obviously do not consume it.

I am gujarati. This could be true but not anymore. Previously mostly of gujarati either involved in agricultural or some kind of businesses. So for them army is less productive option.
Another reason wealthy family afford to join in army but they are less interested because they are from gereral category. So they are not interested in any kind of government jobs.
But nowadays people got aware and try as hard as they can to join army and other government sectors. When i was 15 years old i seen no one from my town to serve in military. I am 25 years old now and i have seen more 100 people from my town who working in different government jobs including army.
For English, i am proud that i studied in gujarati medium. My English was bad also. But after my English classes. I got 7 bands in ielts. And that's the another reason you see more gujarati abroad who love their nation even they are living abroad.
