  • Four Seasons Produce is a family owned wholesale produce company that distributes fresh fruits and vegetables to stores in the Mid-Atlantic and north-east regions. It is our company's priority to get our customers the right product on time, and in the right condition.
Selectors play a vital role in accurately fulfilling customer orders, working against the clock to get products to the trucks for dispatch. The job of selector at Four Seasons Produce is physically intense.
Because of this, selectors start their shift with a team meeting and stretch, instilling the Four Seasons culture of safety from the start. Once they are prepped on the nights volume outlook, selectors begin picking and palatalizing produce orders. Headsets deliver automated messages of customer orders that they will pick and palatalize using their pallet jack to navigate the warehouse. When a selector completes a customer’s order, they will plastic wrap the cases of produce to the pallet and place them in the loading zones. From there, loaders will take the produce to the trailers to be filled and prepared for delivery.
A selector will spend their shift walking, bending, lifting, and stacking consistently lifting boxes ranging from under ten pounds up to sixty pounds, A selector may move roughly fifteen hundred cases of produce by the end of their shift. That could total forty to fifty thousand pounds of produce. Why pay for a gym membership when you can get paid to work out? To successfully do this a selector must be fast, efficient, persistent, and above all safe.
Our warehouse associates must be prepared to work in varying temperature zones ranging from thirty-two to fifty-four degrees Fahrenheit. All associates are required to follow Four Seasons Safety guidelines while on the job. This includes observing defined traffic patterns, safety signs, and equipment policies. Our warehouse is in continuous operation. Every day we are receiving storing and shipping fresh produce. Four Seasons is built on the foundation of teamwork and uses that mindset to be successful. This requires our warehouse staff to be organized, and communicate effectively across all three shifts.
A selector will work a varied four-day work week on second or third shift. This can include weekends, holidays, and last each night until the job is done. The spring through early summer is our peak season and overtime becomes a reality for selectors during this time. Our customers buy more as the summer holidays and weekend picnics drive consumer demand. Selectors at Four Seasons Produce receive a base hourly rate, plus a shift differential, plus they can earn additional hourly incentive pay that is based on their safety, accuracy, and productivity performance each night.
We hold our associates to high standards. Attendance is mandatory. One hundred percent accuracy on customer orders is critical. This means selectors must correctly identify products by their categorized numbers and letters. Four Seasons Produce understands that creating a positive work environment correlates to successful employment experiences. Our state of the art facility offers a cafeteria, equipped with a TV and comfortable tables and chairs, as well as clean locker rooms. The company Produce Market provides associate access to fresh produce at amazing discounts, and offers a variety of food and beverage options for breaks and lunches.
The positive culture that surrounds Four seasons produce creates a unique working environment, allowing for rapid growth of the company. The selector job is not for everyone. The physical demands are challenging. The warehouse is cold. And the work hours can be long. If you like a fast-paced environment, friendly competition, and a positive culture, Four Seasons might be the right fit for you!
