The arrangement and performance are superb. And Staff Sgt. Preston Haining - what a great solo! Every note and beat here are magical. It's a classical piece, you brought it to a new dimension in every way.
Work has been so intense lately… you have no idea how much I wish to see such a performance in person to decompress. Can’t wait for you guys to come to Texas!
Really wonderful what happiness to hear this piece of music I would like to take the a train to attend your beautiful concert.. you are amazing 🤩 Enjoy it also bravo to soloist trumpet
Fantastic, extremely extraordinary theme of Duke Ellington presented by all virtuous musicians of Jazz Ambassadors. I'm Brazilian 1st Trumpet, Bandleader of Dixie Swingers Jazz Band from Lindoia/SP-BR 🇧🇷 Congratulations for all members of Orchestra from Lindoia/SP-BR 🇧🇷 STRONG HUG. 🇧🇷👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏💓😀😀😀😀
I just played this for our 7th and 8th grade jazz band concert. It’s hard but if you pay an instrument it’s easier than you think. I play saxophone for 7th grade.
_Memories😊…not directly of Strayhorn or Ellington, but my indoctrination by my older brother of the serenity derived from listening to John Coltrain, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis and the like. I remember being eleven or so, listening to Coltrain and Davis while my brother would stand in the middle of the living room pretending he was playing the🎷Sax…by the way, I should say, we would “sneak” in my parent’s living room with the “45s” while my parents were out shopping😉. Nothing but Christian 😇music allowed in the house_
Not really a fan of that arrangement. It felt like you were holding the musicians back. Just a personal opinion, the band is way better than that arrangement. I am pretty sure that Ellington's version swung way more than that arrangement.
@@CraigAB69 that’s the original vocal arrangement, which was played after the original big band arrangement. Even if I was wrong and the vocal was original, the band isn’t held back, as the two different recordings are basically the same thing, just different solos(trumpet to piano and vocal). It seems to me that you just pick which ever recording has most views and base your answers off of that, even though that video just has more views because it’s the oldest video on RUclips about it.
@@henryfu784 If you can't tell the difference, that's not my problem. LOL, "...base my answers off most viewed." Again, just in case you didn't see it, I did state "Just a personal opinion". Let it go mate.

Idk what you’re talking about, this is Ellington’s original big band arrangement.

this is as close as you can get to the original - the tempo in this video is actually faster than the tempo in the original recording
