CAT D10R Low voltage alarms

Was called to this CAT to troubleshoot and repair low voltage alarms. Found a damaged exciter wire for the alternator and a loose belt.

Why did the alarm still come on after the wire repair?

Belt was slipping at high idle. Repaired the wire, the alarm came on again at high idle, I shut it down and tightened the belt and it was good after that.
