I ran one of these in the early 80s. It was a 1920s unit from Germany. A much bigger model, it came with a German man to set it up. It was absolutely amazing to watch, and even more amazing to run. It had been modernized with hydraulics for the feed, and Electric Power unit.
I can't say enough in words. Spectacular! All of Europe needs to see this video. Very low equipment and land costs, low overhead and lumber produced at pennies per board foot. Experienced workers not "investors" and "entrepreneurs"- this is great.
WOW what a monstrosity!!! That thing was a technology wonder in its day,,,,what a bunch of casting and machining and aligning,,,and hard work!! Thanks for the post
Damn that's like an exposed ships engine! So much momentum happening but obviously very well balanced and in excellent working order. Notice too how the saw blades did not slow down when cutting - some serious hp passing through the saw. And they say steam is history? Hahahaha!
Just need a good mill right for the machine. Not to mention someone to hammer and file the saw blades. You should be so lucky to find any one person who could competently do these two of these tasks. A rare breed indeed these days.
Fantastic old machine that you can't improve on. Just clean after use and grease where you're supposed to, it'l work forever! I don't see it as dangerous as some people say. You would have to be real stupid to get hurt by it, might put your back out moving the lumber.
Sash gang saws like that are used for relatively low-value product, like raw material for skids. Lots of force generated reciprocating that saw-frame. Antique tech.
Okay, sweetie, you're a bag of swamp-gas. Neither of which have anything to do with the topic, on which, one must assume, you offer yourself as authoritative. TTFN.
@@jacquesblaque7728...sorry honey but you don't have a clue again.... sash gang saws are used throughout europe for producing all kinds of product. not just low value lumber for skids.. the outfit i work for uses theirs to produce some incredibly high value flooring and live edge lumber that goes into the thousands of euro per cubic meter... the machine in the video is indeed an old one however is still feeding at a pretty impressive rate. in case you missed it: the evolution in sawmill tech has mostly been in controls of the machines i.e. the electronics governing the hardware. the other is the metallurgy of the tooling. beyond that there have been relatively few changes to the machines themselves... but you're such an encyclopedia of knowledge you know that already...
ONE ADVANTAGE OF THE RECIPROCATING SAW THAT IN CASE OF METAL OBJECTS INSIDE THE LOG WOULD NOT TEAR UP ALL THE TEETH ON ALL OF A SAW BANDSAW OR CIRCULAR SAW!
His dad made him kill somebody but wasn't his dad ..his dad went out to hunt deer one day..for food for them .. somebody shot him in the woods switched out.. Oregon
Have you ever tryed nowdays battery operated hand held cirkular saws. They are so quite, light and easy to use. Even child could use it. It doesnt feel so dangerous, but it still can cut your hand of so easily. That makes it dangerous. This old sawmill looks therible hell machine. Avarage person will stay away from it, when its on duty. That way its safer, than it looks. Sure the operator get use to it and might get chewed by it, but atlest its quick death.
Keyboard Krazy I’ve seen much worse. All machinery saws etc do work that is dangerous. Way more people get Killed by cars than this machine ever will. Usually dopes don’t run them either.
Ran a water powered saw in southern Indiana, USA. Watching this gave me a nostalgic buzz. Thank you!
That machine is an engineering marvel. Love it wish there was more of these old pieces of equipment still running.

That was awesome. Nice to see something from the old world still kicking ass.

Outstanding, an odie but a goodie. Just shows everyone that just because something or someone is old, they're still useful and handy.
Vacker musik för en gammal sågverksman!!! Tack!!
I never eyeballed anything like that. Cool as hell. Thanks for the video.
Damn that's like an exposed ships engine!

I have seen some heavy machines in my day but watching that reciprocating blade was scary. I took a real "man" to stand next to that beast all day.
What a wonderful car !! will be more than 80 years old ?? beautiful and historic sawmill !!
I absolutely admire these men gotta luv The industrial age those machines were brutal and they were glad to have them .
Love watching that old iron
Gorgeous old machine.
Heavy duty castings, brass bearings plenty of lube oil and low rpms.... this baby could run indefinitely

jl smith I need my cross cut blade hammered. The blank stare I get when talking to people is priceless...
What a beast!
nice old machinery still doing a good job
Beautiful!
Amazing. Impressive. But it must be far more inefficient than a big circular saw, driving the reciprocating saw up & down.
Nydelig maskineri 😍
Gotta love em' frame saws, even more the really old ones...
then you will probably like this norwegian one as well ruclips.net/video/AcwWmxX0qAY/видео.html
I'd love to work here... They still have their souls..
Jesus I thought for a minute there the saw was eating the log and not cutting it!
She's a beauty!
That saw is wicked cool.
Beautiful
Vad är namnet på sågverket?
Bra jobbat.
What a beast - if it an't broke don't fix it.
Multiple blades cutting together?
Essa máquina possivelmente e Alemã... gringa essa máquina 🌎
Runs off water?
Vad är det för motor som driver sågverket?
Love it.
Damn, that is one serious saw.
Lovely
Damn. One pass! Nice.
You'd deserve a beer or two at the end of the day on this job!
Where’s the Bolinder engine?
👍👍👍
Har en slik sag på museumet vårt i Namsos.

I can see 007 being fed into this machine.
Where are the emergency stops? And what about the safety guards whit the respective safety switches? and your ear protection?

Freakin neat and need real men not brats now a days
Love it, you could put a 100 ft tree in it with no problem..
Holy Moly !! High speed !!! Be Careful, there is no safety switches stuffs.

OMG NO GUARDS, NO SAFETY DEVICES that guy could lose his leg so quickly without trying!!
just imagine if he did in fact try then.....

OMG another safety asshole, you can get killed walking on the street if you do it carelessly.
