    It looks like all of Edvinsson’s weaknesses are things he will learn with better coaching and time on the ice. He has the traits like size and skating that you can’t teach. He’s gonna be a nice fit playing next to Seider in a couple years. You should make a video breaking down Cossa’s game

      Edvinsson in really good in SHL this season. However I'm very unsure of Cossa. I think it was a mistake to not draft Wahlstedt who I believe is the next Lundqvist. Wahlstedt is having great numbers playing as goalie in the SHL.

    Ohh how I miss the days of Lidstrom and Konstantinov pairing up. It was a devastating combo. Detroit lost one of the great defensemen in Konstantinov way too early. Then, I believe we had a budding Norris Trophy candidate in Jiri Fischer and we saw what happened to him. I think losing Fischer hurt the Wings more than what most people believed. I can only imagine what that 2002 team would have looked like with Konstantinov. No matter how good this pairing becomes, nothing with match the Nick and Vlad combo. Lidstroms ultra skilled vision and ability and Vlads WWE style of play exhausted teams night after night.

    • @MagnusOphiuchus-XIII

      I'm no. 13 (of course). But I said the same thing all these years.... The end of the Russian 5, was the end of a potential DYNASTY! Fedorov would have seriously benefited. And it's debatable whether we would have needed Chelios. Fischer was on his way to being a Norris contender, when his career ended. And it was sad and painful to see. It's incredible, that the Wings did as well as they did.... without them. 😔 GO WINGS!!

    • @pjpredhomme7699
      @pjpredhomme7699 2 года назад +3

      its been a really long time -i do not recall them being a regular pairing - what i do remember is Lidstrom's game took a step to the next level after playing with Larry Murphy for a couple years . Those two played a more similar game - they both were superior skaters , puck handlers - never thru bone crushing hits but used excellent positioning - and stick skills to defend . But your point that Konstantinov never got to fulfill his promising career is true - he definitely made people think twice about skating with their heads down . I might add that Uwe Kruup had been signed as a free agent - he was a very good dman also - that was never really fullfilled - that is clouded in controversy but the point is the team overcame a lot of hardships on the way to those championships

    • @pjpredhomme7699
      @pjpredhomme7699 2 года назад +1

      @@MagnusOphiuchus-XIII Chelios trade was only done to cover for the loss of Konstantinov - obviously he was considered a short term fix because he was what 38 when that trade was made but obviously his conditioning and overall skill and competitiveness allowed him to be a valuable player for much longer . Still would have been better if Konstantinov would have been able to fulfill his potential - personally i am biased but i thought he was ready for a Norris and maybe a HOF career . still such a tragedy . you are correct Fischer was expected to be the next great - alas he had that heart problem - that is a missed story of the redwings dynasty

    great analysis - of the many positive offensive attributes you described here - i wonder if he will be capable of playing the bumper position on a power play . seems like his puck handling , passing and vision would be ideal for that - it is usually played by a forward but he might be good for it . the continued importance placed on special teams - that all important position on PP could really add value to this player IMO

      He's a complimentary piece to Mo Seider's game. Seider is extremely poised and defensively sound and makes next to no mistakes. Ed takes a bit more of the dangerous approach but he's good at it and also activates offensively much more frequently. Their skill sets compliment each other nicely. I wouldn't say they play alot like eachother though.

      Because Roger Rönnberg - the head coach in Frölunda, where Edvinsson plays - is one of the best in the business and, not only does have have an abundance of experience developing young talent at an elite level, but he also has the trophy case to back it up.
