I did a baja road trip with my high school sweet heart 25 years ago. I'm happy to see there are still plenty of areas that are unspoiled by development. Great video :)
Nice First time I surfed in Baja was around 25 years ago too. It's more developed than it used to be (of course) but if you make an effort and take a chance you can still find yourself alone on a beautiful beach🤙
This video is AMAZING !!!!!!! The surf, the food, the scenery, and to top it off, touching that whale !!!!!! You two are blessed to have such a trip !!!!
Good job keeping all the spots secret ;) I’m planning a trip for a month here soon and am happy y’all failed to mention the name of each wave. Stoked to explore the spots I’ve been quietly exposed to for my first Baja trip
Same here!,, I’ve followed you guys for the longest!! Some how or another, I lost you... I started my U Tube experience following you guys. And then today Saturday I spotted this post and recognize the blue truck. Good to see you again, TC fromNevada
Epic surfing footage. I’ve never surfed in my life, not many swells on the Canadian prairies, but I can appreciate skill and ability. I can see from this earlier video why you chose the Pacific side of Baja to build your home. Really glad that your channel turned up on my feed and, of course, I did subscribe.
I just stumbled upon this video. I felt like I was traveling with you. In my younger days my buddies and I would pack up the 4x4 and just travel the Baja coast surfing and camping. I miss those days. Great video.
nice, drove down the length in 1986, 3 days at Salsipudes first Playa San Miguel, then 5 days down to Pescadero, stayed in a cabin for 2 1/2 months of some hommies from Santa Cruz, great solo time and weekends girls from all over camping at San Jose del Cabo, i was 70 clics North, then took very last ferry from Cabo to Puerto Vallarta, 30 hrs? on board was the CLASSIC Carl Franz
Thanks for sharing! Pretty remarkable. This video reminds me that there are still really good/normal/talented/gemuine/real people in this world and some amazing spots. Stay wet and stoked....
Thanks Charlie. You can always check to see if you missed anything by looking at the "videos" page on our channel: ruclips.net/user/TheTravelingTogetherJournalvideos
I remember in the eighties down there paddling out on my longboard with a fishing pole with a scampi. Got outside the surf zone and unhooked the lure and it dropped in the water and a 3 pound sand bass grabbed it before I could even cast it. Some amazing empty places.
You guys' videos put such a smile on my face. Just something about good people enjoying their lives on their terms to the fullest. Its just awesome👍 Thanks as always for sharing a bit on You Tube!
Thanks, Russ Yes, the whales were awesome. Amie has dragged me to many cool places that I would have never gone on my own because it involved non-surfing-activities 😁 she helps me be a more well rounded, healthy, balanced person I'm told (by her) 😉
What a great video and trip! Looks like you two had a dream vacation! Keep them coming, your surfing was so great also. The tacos looked really good and made me hungry. I better get some lunch now!🤙🇺🇸🌮😀
In 92’ my soon to be married best buddy and I headed to Cabo for a month. We camped and surfed on the Pacific Side till Friday when we would head to the Dos Mares motel where you got an air conditioned room for $25. We’d clean up and hit the town only to return to camping on Sunday.
I did many a Baja Trips back in the 80's when it was reasonably safe. But now it's a gamble just too dangerous with the Cartel in Control and all the Methheads!
Great production. I surfed the pt with all the vehicles parked beginning in 1981 in November. El Nino year. Low tide and offshore. Hopefully now with the popularity they built an outhouse.
this is awesome stuff guys. i grew up doing this exact stuff with my pops. cruising desolate baja looking for waves with a camper onhis 2500 sierra. im based in the pnw now exploring for waves with my little tacoma with a pop up camper. gonna try to make a coastal run down to mex as soon as time and money allow. keep it up!
Thanks Grant. I blame my dad for my surf and travel addictions too 😂 Amie insist it was child abuse when I tell her the stories, but those Baja trips have had a lasting positive impression on me Hope your Mex trip comes together for you soon🤙
@@TheTravelingTogetherJournal it was the beginning of my travel bug. Took an amphibious vehicle from Bahia Tortugus to Isla Natividad in exchange for a fishing pole and some Oreo cookies. Scored epic surf but forgot the tent. Good times!
@@oldwave6106 😂 Yes! maybe a little uncomfortable in the moment, but a great adventure and story to tell. Plus scoring epic surf is a quick way to convince yourself it was a great idea right from the start🤪
Nice job! And you can surf! Brought back memories. First trip to tip was with dad in '78 with many more to follow. I'm stoked I didn't recognize a couple of the spots, thank you for not sharing locations. But I DO have one question...where did you get those outrageous tacos from?!!!
Nice. '78 would have been an adventurous drive down the peninsula. I don't think I made it all the way to Cabo until around '90. That was also with my dad. Lots of good memories and hopefully many more to come. Tacos El Gallo, 3 doors down from Copal/ VP gas station in Vizcaino. It's become one of our favorites. The family that owns it is great and the dad is hilarious. I gotta warn you though, I was a little creative with the timeline in my editing to through any would be surf-detectives off my trail 😉
I used to skateboard, been thinking about starting again... but you guys make me want to learn how to surf so bad! Thanks for sharing, you guys are awesome. Im gonna drive the Pan American Highway next year and you are one of the reasons that really helped me make that final decision to actually quit my job and take the leap! I hope to show you vids of me when Im surfing down there someday!
Wow. Have a great trip. We saw people skating in lots of the bigger cities and surf-beach towns. Could be a fun activity to do and meet people along the way
As one of your very loyal Subs, i must admit , that this Vid was one of my top 10s favourites thus far. Matt, se nota que tu influencias del surf han Sido del Occy. Who shaped that board? It seems to open up for you when it gets a bit more poderosa.
Great surfer and great video work!! Thinking about a Baja trip soon, do you feel safe down there? Make sure you get to Maui to see the whales, they really breach over there!!
We do feel safe down there. Crooked cops and petty theft are issues, but apparently we are comfortable with that risk I worked on a boat in Maui for 3 years, so I've seen my fare share of Humpbacks😁
Thank you so very much for not disclosing spots! Baja is not a place, but a state of mind… which you’ve figured out. -wookie
Baja is where I got hooked on surf travel 25 years ago and it continues to be one of my favorite places to explore. 🤙
Gorgeous filming. Fun to see Matt surfing! And how exciting to touch a whale !! Happy for you two making this happen for yourselves!!

The adventure and exploration is what makes a Baja surf trip so special. Have fun!
Pretty rare for someone to keep their pie hole shut these days, good on ya!

The amount of work that has gone into this channel is incredible. I'm a huge fan of you guys, and constantly gaining inspiration from you two
Thanks Brendon
Wow, what a good surfer and well made video!
Dreamin of surfing Baja thanks to your videos. Great fun to watch guys. Thanks.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for not giving up the name of the spots. Too many newbies who post don’t understand surf etiquette.
Thanks for not asking 🤙
Wow, looks like you scored really good empty waves the entire peninsula...thanks for sharing your adventure and not name dropping one single spot 😉

Baja is magical, awesome trip!! I've think i've surfed 2 of those spots you hit!!!!
It's always a good time, but this was definitely one of the best runs of swell I've had down there🤙

Its an awesome place!
Nice vid! I was wondering when you were going to get some lefts - lol. Baja is truly still an adventure like the outback.
I'm always searching for any fun wave, but extra effort is put in for potential lefts around here 😂
Awesome video. Made me miss travelling in Mexico so much!
Quality waves with no one else around, now that is living.
That's what it's all about for me😁
What a blast!!! Great video.
Dang you scored some amazing waves. Wish I knew where those places are! We are planning a trip to Scorpions Bay this August.
Yeah this was one of the best runs of swell I've had on a Baja trip.
Maybe we'll see you down there. we're going late July/early august
thank you for sharing your adventures.
Necesito volver !! I love that place !
