Boycott comes from the British magistrate with Irish roots himself, Charles C. Boycott. In 1880, he was so hated by his land-owning tenants (so to speak) that they performed the first ever boycott because they wanted their rent, as demanded by the Irish Land League, to be lowered after he raised it higher than they felt was justified.

To be clear he was the one being boycotted, not the one boycotting.
And for good reason: he was a magistrate (and colonial magistrates are typically not great), an Englishman, a b*****d who made up many petty rules so much so even many a HOA would be shocked and he was evicting many a tenant just after a bad harvest.
All this a couple weeks after the concept of what is now known as a "boycott" was first brought to the land league (who were the ones doing the boycotting), as an alternative for killing or shooting. Whether it's good timing or poor timing isn't for me to say.
I'd highly recommend you read the Wikipedia page actually, not in any sort of "do your research way" but more in a "look this is bleeding hilarious" way. The fourth tenant he and the RIC tried to evict actually refused and used her red hanky to warn the other women. Where upon a group of women came round to throw an assortment of things at him, the only one of which Wikipedia highlighted was "manure".

They just had to prepare most of it to make the food they harvested and butchered last for longer periods, so they had to do things like dry it, smoke it, picke it, etc. Also, that is the reason why there are a lot of festiviaties and there used to be a lot of feasts in the end of autumn and the beginning of winter, because they would butcher a lot of the animals and leave very few (specially the younger ones), because during winter having a lot of animals meant you had more mouths to feed in the months were you would have less food, so they would eat most of the animals and get themselves a bit fatter to be able to withhold the winter more confortably. And also, the food during this feasts in the past were, apart from the meat, fruits and vegetables that don't preserve well, so you'd want to eat them before they spoil and also turn them into fat to help with winter.
It depends on which culture and time period you're talking about. The medieval period was quite diverse and is not as monolithic as people seem to think.
Peasants would work on farms, and farms are seasonal, so there are less jobs for half the year, fyi this is English medieval presents

That has to do with the fact that an emulator relies on cracked and manipulated Switch (for example) firmware.
That firmware is official Nintendo property, so allowing the emulators to exist unchecked would possibly (legally speaking) amount to tacit approval from Nintendo.
I don't like it either, but I think that might be the reasoning behind it.

@ayoayo while that may be the case, when someone is saying something as egregious and already proven false as migrants eating peoples pets, which was a huge misinformation campaign that led to racism, crime and literal bomb threats to children in that area from people who don’t even live there going out of their way to act upon that misinformation, I think it’s reasonable for the moderators to say “we are not doing this again”.
(I am from Ohio, the state that unfortunately has to deal with Vance’s bullshit most regularly. He does not speak for us, and he would set the whole state ablaze if he could strum it in his favor. I have no doubt he’ll do the same to the whole country as Vice President).

Milk does contain the chemical bonds H²O however to claim it's water the way we know water is ridiculous. The simple experiment above can show you that. If it was nearly 90% water as you claim, adding water wouldn't do much to it.

They could afford to work until they had enough. Then they had time to invest in the future
There was only so much to do on the fields and with the animals, too.
Outside planting, harvesting and processing your harvest, there were months where you actually had relative free time. At least as head of the household.
The wife would be cooking and washing just the same.
So yeah, laborers would work as much as they needed money and food. Farmers would do as much as they had work to do.
What you did the rest of the time was your business.
Often enough, that meant people would build, craft or otherwise improve their personal or communal lot.
Mending the roof, repairing a wall, carving spoons and bowls, keeping bees, picking berries, tending to the forest, whatever.
They weren't usually doing nothing of use, because they just didn't have the books, movies etc. So they did whatever they could think of to make their lives better.
And that often meant to try and create a new or improve an existing resource.
They had to work long enough to feed themselves and feed their families. And a tax to the nobles. And a tax to the king. And a tithe to the Pope.
Yeah, no. They didn't have it better back then.

Local produce back then was far less nutritious than modern produce.
The biggest "cost" was how long it took to farm those fields all day. And all the back breaking labor would be rendered pointless if the weather wouldn't cooperate or if raiders showed up and stole it all.

you make it sound like investing in the future wasnt mandatory. if peasants failed to prepare for times without work, or especially hard seasons they simply died. there were no support systems aside from direct family and direct family often didnt have enough to spare.
They worked as much as they could, as hard as they could WHEN they could so that when they didnt even have the OPTION of work they could survive.
Plying their trade, cutting fire wood, canning goods, patching holes in the walls roof and, if they were lucky patching the holes in thier flooring as well.
Anything and everything to prep for the tough parts of the year and once the tough times hit they spent every hour inside getting cabin fever weaving baskets or whittling tools in preparation for the easy times to maximize their gains.

I think sometimes the creators know they can't fill the shoes of their predecessors, so they deliberately do something completely different with the IP. it doesn't need to be good, it just needs to reset the bar so they can cross it. otherwise they'll find themselves eternally chasing the dragon.
For example, there was no way anyone was going to top Heath Ledger's joker after he passed. Nobody could convince themselves that whatever came next would be better than his swansong. So, instead, they roped in Jared Leto to sacrifice himself on the altar of resetting the Clown's shoe size.

Medieval peasants did genuinely get half the year off work, but that is only because that half of the year was winter and they were trying not to die. They didn't have modern materials, modern heating, or modern insulation, the lack of climate change at the time meant winters were also vastly colder, if it rained a little too much one day, your firewood could be left too waterlogged to be usable, and their supply of food was extremely finite.

Yeah, I can't believe Robin misread that. Remember guys, if you can't own something, then pirating it cannot be stealing because you are unable to purchase and own the thing. Physical media, when properly cared for, can last more than a lifetime and cannot be censored or taken away from you once purchased. We need to stand up for things like right to repair laws, access to physical media, media preservation and archival, emulation and modding, and the right to own and inherit digital media. Without these things, not only will companies have no incentive to make anything new because they can keep reselling old things every couple generations, but we also wouldn't have access to a lot of old games, movies, and TV shows. ROMs, recordings, and other "piracy" acts are the only reason a lot of old media isn't lost media. Doctor Who famously only has most of the old episodes because of fan recordings. A lot of old anime only exists because of bootleg fansubs. Media still gets lost today. If you don't have an old Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles OST album, you can no longer listen to the original English Cover of Moonless Starry Night anywhere on the internet because they think the new cover is an "Improvement." I disagree strongly. We will keep losing things without pirates. Support your local internet pirates. Keep them secret, keep them safe. And remember that if you own physical media, you are allowed to make as many boots and roms as you want in order to preserve your purchase. It is simply illegal to sell and distribute. Whether it should be is a moral and legal debate that's still ongoing. But remember that you have every right to make sure that you protect your DVDs, discs, cartridges, tapes, etc. from degradation by making your own rips and roms and copies. Just a thought.

Also they won't start barking when they smell drugs or whatever they were trained for because they have a command given to them which means they have to work, they will be a normal dog most of the time then when given the command (typically the words 'find it' or something similar) they will search for drugs/bombs etc. I've also seem some dogs who were trained that instead of a word as a command it was a specific harness or collar, it depends on the trainer. ^^ (sorry if this doesn't make sense)
I've heard a theory I vibe with: humans aren't necessarily getting stupider, but the constantly improving accessibility to the internet just makes all those moments that much more visible on a wider scale. There may still be falloff of intelligence, but it's not as dramatic as what the internet suggests.
Whenever somebody refers to something as being "vanilla", I see it as it being a foundation. Like, it's pretty strong by itself, but you can add stuff on top of it.

No but... That meme at 6:09 was literally me last year. I'd gotten my first dose of chemo (like 2-3 hours after I had a lumbal puncture/spinal tap), was kept 1-2 days for observation before going home and spent the next 3 days barely eating or drinking or really doing anything other than lying down with a wet towel over my forehead and eyes (and occasionally puking). Last year I was 24, and I had a dentist appointment that I had to cancel bc I really couldn't do anything. Couldn't call though so mom thankfully did it for me.
For anyone wondering, I did get nausea tablets that actually worked after a visit to the ER (I had--and still do have--other meds that require me to go to the ER for emergency IV if I puke or break my leg etc. etc.), so after a visit to them (plus, it had been about a week by then and I was getting a little better) I found out that apparently the hospital could have, and probably should have, given the nausea tablets to me to begin with; because I kid you not, the actual physical pain of just lying in bed almost 24/7 was something ELSE I had to deal with even after the nausea was cleared.

The thing about “I can’t believe the Joker sequel is a musical”, as a big-time theatre nerd, is that I can’t think of a single musical that I love that doesn’t sound really weird on paper. I have heard much worse premises for a show turn out to be masterpieces. I could absolutely see a musical about Harley Quinn and the Joker working but that movie clearly didn’t. Not all musicals are cheery, tons are pitch black comedy or just plain depressing. Your emotions get musicals more than your brain, and I could see a stage version with a different level of suspension of disbelief working.

To me that didn't even look like water but tasty and refreshing homemade lemonade. Just water, a nice squeeze from a fresh lemon and a teaspoon of sugar. Absolute perfection. Also fun fact I managed to make homemade lemonade using my ginger bug. It's lightly fizzy and just perfect. When I'm done with my ginger beer I'll make a liter of it to keep in the fridge. Ideal for next summer if my bug is still alive.
