    Thanks for the video! Was just sitting here complaining the fireplace doesn’t add any heat, and at times I swear makes it colder. I googled my complaint and your video was the first to pop up. It was informative, easy to follow and I really appreciated the link to find the proper blower. Already ordered it and looking forward to installing it for my birthday present. Thanks!

I went ahead and installed the fan as you described however I was having an issue with the blower not turning off, I went to the manufacturers website and watched a video which showed the fan installed with the Velcro on the bottom and the other pad against the back wall, I called them and they said their video was correct.

    I hope you still respond to this videos comments? I enjoyed your video as thinking of putting a fan in (my fireplace is pretty much the same as in the video) but underneath where you put the blower is a lot smaller inside.. the back wall probably about 6" wide and the sides go back at an angle and the gas and what not connections are right in the front and center making it that much harder to get to the back(which is small). How do I put Fan in in this case? Thank you!

      Search for your specific fireplace model to find the right fan. There are a lot of differences between brands. This should help: fireplaceblowersonline.com/help-find-my-blower/

    Hi there- I bought a house with a gas fireplace installed but no blower or power outlet. There’s one nearby though. So two questions - one, I don’t know the brand or model of the gas fireplace. Do I have to? And two, can I wire the blower to a different outlet instead of having to add one in the chimney? Thanks in advance!!! Great video!!!

    • @TopHomeowner
      @TopHomeowner  2 года назад +1

      Yes, you can use a different outlet if you are OK with seeing a cord coming out of your fireplace. As for the brand, some of the clearances are tight underneath the firebox and you want to make sure whatever fan you go with fits without having wires touch the firebox itself, and can be put in the correct location for airflow. If you contact this company they may be able to help you further: fireplaceblowersonline.com/help-find-my-blower/

    I'm replacing a blower on my freestanding fireplace. So blowers are not really model specific, but kind of generic? I'm not quite sure what to look for yet. And I think not cleaning the box out is what caused the blower to fail...we bought the house and just started using the fireplace, it started squealing after a few months of use, I don't think it has ever been cleaned out.

    I dont understand why the blower is below the fireplace it will be way hotter if the fan was blowing from the top right? I got the utlet on the bottom there as well but no blower

    • @TopHomeowner
      @TopHomeowner  2 года назад +1

      The top of the fireplace would be too hot for the motor, bearings, and wires. Everything would melt. These are designed to blow air from the bottom, which will heat and circulate it around the box before coming out from the top vent.

    • @TopHomeowner
      @TopHomeowner  Год назад +1

      Some models don't have the sensor BUT if you're attaching it to the "roof" of the cavity below the firebox (not the floor where the control sits) it should be getting hot enough to turn it on. Usually takes about 5 minutes in my case.

    • @TopHomeowner
      @TopHomeowner  2 года назад +10

      Thanks for the comment. Actually, the sensor works well on the bottom since it kicks the fan on at around 120 degrees. The cable isn't long enough to reach the top, which is good because the wire would melt since the firebox will get too hot for it on the sides and top.
