It still matters, though. It's not as simple as, "they're fighting Germans anyway, may as well also do this other thing." The mission to save Ryan involved penetrating into enemy lines and was inherently more dangerous than being of the Army's frontline movement. There's also probably some element of "why us?" even if the mission had some abstract value. And all of them ended up dying (except Ryan), which wasn't unforeseeable. There's a reason why the US war effort wasn't largely conducted by small squads of men entering enemy territory, because it doesn't make tactical sense.
This mission was BS and they all knew it. Miller fcked up and got his squad killed. He should ve just joined some Para unit at the front, fight a bit to be useful, and call in that they couldnt find Ryan.
That's pretty close to what he did and that was what actually got his squad killed. Wade died fighting a fortification they could have avoided but didn't, trying to be useful. Miller, Horvath, Jackson and Mellish died defending a bridge counter to their orders, trying to be useful. The mission wasn't Miller's idea to begin with and he doesn't like it either. He's lying in this scene to keep up morale.
Caparzo: We have to complete this mission because... you don't turn your back on family!
Especially u Riven....good one.
my fav scene.
It doesnt matter whether their mission must save a person or not. They had to go to combat German after all.

I will literally need a new line of work.
Wait, didn’t Dom died from the sniper scence?
yeah...this happens before that sniper scene.
This shows that you only watch clips and not the full movie lmao
He came back from the dead as zombie, o, wait, wrong movie...
My favorite scene in the whole movie. I'm not on the left by any means but Trump really needs to delete his Twitter account. Gripes go up not down.
"The Buck Stops Here"
There's a difference between griping and trolling.
Snowflake
Y’all always bringing trump into things that don’t involve him or politics
