The offensive line is to blame mostly. However, it is the QBs job to identify the blitz and he needs to get better. In addition, the center needs to adjust blocking schemes on the fly, this is something High School football centers are able to do. The Center should have picked up the backside block if he doesn't have someone over him. As a QB I wouldn't sit there waiting for the village idiot to make up his mind. Stroud should just make an executive decision and call a play. What are they going to do, bench Stroud?
You hit the nail on the head with all these takes. Hopefully something can change now. I’d love to see our guys go on a crazy run and piss off the rest of the league.
You are exactly right Jeremy. I'm with you on every point you are pointing out. Hopefully Slowik sees this and can adapt this stagnant offense. I love my Texans but if they want to run with the big dogs they have to be able to keep up, not get blown out.
On that Tank Dell play, my guess is that Wayne is supposed to go back corner pylon and tank Dell is more middle post. Stroud threw in between both areas so Wayne being new went for the ball when he wasn’t supposed to.
Yes Slowik definitely has things he needs to do better. But this is mostly on the players they have been playing this game for years they are not doing there job’s it’s that simple. #oneanddoneagain.
There’s just so many people at fault here, no time to even get into Castro 😂 although weeks ago I did see a few people flagging his inability to make good decisions on Oline players, good at everything but this.
@@sanjay_6556 this coaching staff let go Charlie Heck a pretty good player. I saw him playing with the 49ers and he was fine . It's the same exact system being run properly. The 49ers just have too many injuries. It's the OC Slowbum he's the problem
Based on the current Offensive Line play, I don't see the Texans going anywhere in the Playoffs. CJ has no Pass Pro from these Lineman and it isn't getting better.
It was clear that Miami had figured out the wide receiver screens so I was little surprised when the Texans kept trying to run those screen passes in later games. I suspect that Slowik is saving the “new” plays for the playoffs?
@rickyeager5762 totally agree. And the CJ struggles continue because he wanted CJ to stay in the pocket and deliver the ball, wrong move. We don't have a line, staying in the pocket will get him hurt. Play actions are highly needed
My biggest thing is just what you said. Get the call in sooner. The Oline sucks bad and I think they are most to blame. Slowik is 2nd but the receivers are 3rd. Nico is the only receiver worth anything. Even Tank was forgettable this year except for his last game
Hell no of he gets a head coach else wear I be glad we don't need trash to be here in Houston. Go get someone knows what the hell there doing with experience. And can help CJ Stroud to become a lot better . Lions OC is straight fire
Either the Oline isn't physically able or not smart enough to understand the scheme or the coaches can't coach teach them or the scheme is terribly flawed or any combination thereof.
You've made several points that I have identified also, however the talent selection or lack thereof for the OL, has to be attributed to someone, who? An OL coach that has never ran that version of offensive line play. The behavior of the QB, is a result of an environment, to which the protection has failed too many times and created an over-stressed, lack of confidence in the OL, and quite possibly the OC, not to mention the affect of that trauma on the psyche of the young QB, it is a dis-service to the QB, to have an incompetent OC affect his play and may quite possibly ruin him.
Staff under slowik is a grade school level and need to be replaced . They need Experienced and disaplinarian kind of offensive staff. I really think it's there, cause who is consistently working them and teaching the o linemen. Think bout it. It shows and has shown since week 4.
BRO. Ngl I literally called Bobby’s office at the Texans facility during the chiefs game. left a vm for him to PLEASE STOP calling SCREENS. No cap they are not working.
I would love that type of run, but this isn't the Texans year....25-26 or 26-27 will be those DEEP playoff runs once they plug the leaks on the offensive side and better game planning.
I’m a realist and a Texans fan and believe there is always a chance they can win. That being said if you honestly believe they are gonna go to the Superbowl this year, then you are setting yourself up for disappointment.

Answering the supposed 'fixes' for the Texans offence: 1. The Texans are rarely blitzed. Why? Because the other teams know a simple T/E stunt will get home most of the time. There is no needs to blitz a team that can't block your 4 with their 5+. That is a personnel issue and won't be fixed by hiring a new OL coach, or a new OC. 2. Yes, the run blocking is atrocious. Again, a personnel issue as the blocks aren't being missed due to 'scheme'. They're being missed because everyone except the two tackles are worthless and will be out of the NFL after their time in Houston. This is a personnel issue and won't be fixed by hiring a new OL coach, or a new OC. 3. The concepts are the same as run by 99% of NFL teams. There are hot routes on every passing play, mesh routes, and short, medium, or long options available to CJ. The issue is he either on his ass within 1.5 seconds of snap, or he's now got the yips from playing with the scrubs he's playing with. Still, he gets paid to make the throws and all too often he's not. The Texans have _ONE_ wide receiver and another who depends on #1 to take coverage away from him. All the others, Woods, Metchie, Hutchinson, are not NFL players. They're useless in the quick game because they can't get off the line, and even when they're allowed a clean break, they do not have the quickness or speed to get open before the inevitable sack. This is a personnel issue and won't be fixed by hiring a new OL coach, or a new OC. 4. I just watched the Lions and Vikings use the same exact WR screens that we use, but with devastating effect. The problem is not the play call, or even when it's called, it is a personnel issue and won't be fixed by hiring a new OL coach, or a new OC. 5. Wow! You got one right! CJ has regressed this season as he's tried to do too much in an effort to overcome the ridiculous state of the offensive line. He now looks nervous, and his footwork is completely gone. And it may not be CJ's fault he's in this situation, but it is his problem. Lastly, _I believe Slowik has to go, along with Strausser and Johnson._ Still, the problems that exist on this team are that way because we have no one that can reliably scout offensive players, and especially not offensive linemen. The offensive line is like the foundations of your house. If there are cracks, then eventually other things will begin to break. *The Texans offensive foundation has three chasms and a couple of cracks and until that's fixed we'll have no idea how to isolate and identify the other problems.**

You don’t get penalized for cheating in the NFL. I’m sorry, Bobby, but this is the best way I can put it after watching the Texans' seasons.
The whole offensive system is a flaw. Bobby SLOWik is either a make a wish kid has pictures of Demeco and Caserio naked in the showers or he owes bookies money and is purposely sabotaging the offense. Nobody can be that bad. Nobody. Ebeflus would be a better OC. The Bears line would make us a Superbowl contender. SLOWik and Demeco are to blame for the bad offense. We can all see the problem yet Demeco just keeps allowing it to happen.
Slowik at least on paper, is supposed to be responsible for the offense and it sucks. At QB with Stroud, you have a kid with all the physical talent he'll ever need to be a great QB some day. While I hate to say it, Stroud is dumb. Not that tests are the be all end all of stats, but when you test out several standard deviations away from mean, it at the very least is concerning. On the S2 he he scored in the 16th percentile, where as most all of the elite QB's in the NFL scored in the 90's. Yea, yea, I know. He's terrible at taking tests. We all heard it over and over. So, at best, as it relates to intellect, you have someone with a learning disability. By the same token, I don't think most of the QB's in the NFL are Rhodes scholars. As is well known and constantly trotted out, the O-line is horrible. Well, a number of QB's operate with a shit O line. Not really anything you can do about it, but as the QB you do have to adjust for it as best you can and I don't think Stroud has. What's majorly different about this years O line and last years? Not much, but Stroud's reaction to it has. He gets happy feet and either bails to soon or waits to long. Worst yet, when Stroud is running for his life it's like his brain shuts down until he can replant. He loses track of his receiver routes and starts over with his mental focus. The NFL is too damn fast to not be able to think on the run. It's a necessity and Stroud just isn't getting it done. Not to keep on bagging on Stroud, but he IS the QB at the end of the day and no doubt he has about as little help as you can get. His pocket awareness (and field sense in general) is atrocious and he should be better at reading defenses by this point. He never seems to pick up a stunt or anything the least bit exotic in a blitz scheme. Not all of this is his fault, but all of it is his problem. Assuming Slowit is actually the shot caller, he sucks. He designs a decent first half scheme and in the 2nd half he couldn't make an adjustment to save his ass (PTSD from the BO era as he sucked at it as well). IF you can't keep making constant adjustments and tweaks to the game (including having a completely different plan if your gig isn't working) then, paraphrasing Jerry Glanville, the NFL stand for Not For Long. He's like 99% of NFL coaches. He runs HIS offense regardless of what players and their respective deficiencies/strengths are. You don't go to war with the army you want. You go with the one you have. When asked what is a great coach, old Bum Phillips said, "Well, it's a "hiz'n and u'run" When asked what that meant, Phillips says, "He's a coach that can take hizn and beat u'run and he can take u'run and beat hiz'n." Despite the off the wall country witticism, no truer words were ever spoken that show what a GREAT NFL coach does. As has been mentioned ad nauseum about the terrible O-line, I wonder if he ever even works with them. Half the time, they're standing around like bastard calves at a round up. How many times have we seen a simple 4 man front and get a sack out of it and meanwhile 3-4 members of the o line (and RBs) standing there blocking air. They are even worse at run blocking. Mixon's great season is solely do to Mixon. It would be great to have just ONE person on the Texans that could show/identify/demonstrate/etc what the LB's are most likely going to do and how to make......................ADJUSTMENTS. So, we all know Slowit is a huge problem and needs to go, but how does that get done. HC, GM, front office, owner could grow a pair and just fire the guy, but not likely. OTOH, with the plethora of head coaching jobs open, he MIGHT get a shot at one. That would be the best outcome. We;ll see. O-line is the worst in the game. Dead horse beaten to death, over and over. They could also get a better QB coach (in addition to a new OC) at least. They've got to find a way to bring this kid up to speed on how all this works. Stroud, as I said, has as much physical talent as can be. He desperately needs some intensive tutoring and a mentor that can show and teach him. The poor kid is lost and his self esteem is as low as it can go. Also, Stroud could hire a private QB coach outside of the organization. Several NFL QB's have them including Maholm's. That's the state of the Texan QB saga from my comfy couch and doing some Monday QB'ing knowledge.
