The way Surging sparks sky rocketed in less than a month of being released is what has made me not want to collect anymore. The fact that it was hard to get ahold of and it was only out for two weeks is absolutely dumb. And now seeing that prismatic etbs are already going for 150 and they arent even released yet is mind blowing. Honestly the community has been ridiculous. I was enjoying the hobby but not any more
Same I just wanna get some boosters or ETB to get into the tcg game, I play the pc tcgl ver. but I like having a physical deck for once too, however it's being made impossible even thinking about buying seperate cards might be difficult from individual buyers, and they will ask crazy prices even for very normal common cards.
I'm hoping with the move to the next new big thing to scalp that surging sparks will drop to normal box prices at least. Can't even find boxes for 151 so I just got the poster thing because I could put it on my wall and it was the same price as 3 packs anyways and then I'm done with the set unless something changes.
IMO, the only reason prismatic evolution’s is so in demand and being resold for absurd amounts… is because of evolving skies and the fear of the new umbreon becoming the next ES moonbreon. which I fully understand but it’s just truly annoying.. :/
I have a theory. I believe that prismatic evolutions hit rates will be as high as paldean fates and crown zenith because there are two things these three sets all have in common. All three of these sets have a release date all in the month of January. Aditionally Japanese versions of Pokemon sets usually have 2 versions. What about these three you ask? They all have only one Japanese version which all had at least ONE hit in EACH AND EVERY PACK. And also given that there are over 30 special illustration rare cards in this set marks how much better this set is than crown zenith and paldean fates.

FALSE, i just watched a guy open over 700+ packs of prismatics and NOT 1 SIR or any big hits. SO hit rates are VERY VERY LOW. I'm not kidding when i say he opened over 700 packs.

I was the same, got back into collecting back in October 2024 and needed a way to justify how much I was spending on cards. Hopefully one day I can monetize this channel and help make back what I’ve spent on pack haha

I appreciate that this video actually discusses the real problem. Not the scalpers, the resellers, the whatnot rippers, but the company not printing enough. All these issues wouldn’t be an issue if they just printed it to the ground.
I'm hoping that this massive spike will drain the pockets of scalpers, and I hope nobody will buy from the scalpers. By the time the Trainer/Rocket set comes, scalpers will be still too out of pocket to try and mass scalp trainer/Rocket so it will be more readily available.
Stores are getting 10-15 %less than they asked for and they asked for much more than usual so they aren't really getting less they are getting more than usual. That's what I'm thinking.
The reason Prismatic is being cut is because 1. Pokemon is aiming more towards big box stores. 2. The distors are holding back on supplies because they want to make more on a second round of sales. 3. They will be more products coming out the whole year so everyone will be able to get some. This is how it's going to be for the most of 2025 and 2026 for all other products coming out.
i genuinely don't understand how everyone doesn't know this, but no, pokemon isn't short on 'printing power.' That's never been the case, except before they bought the printing company. The sets are printed a year early. They printed to the demand of sv01-04, crown zenith, and probably paldean fates. They didn't print enough because WHEN they printed it, they had just had a year where their printing amounts were way up, and demand fell off. Just watched pokene's video where he explains obsidian flames and paradox had a lot more to allocate than stores thought, so they naturally over-requested to increase the amount they'd get cut down to, and then the set was simply printed to what was seen as "demand," so people got too much allocated and declined and distros sat on it for a year. That's the whole story on printing. So, THAT is one year ago, +/-, that's why printing is low.
it’s a thing tho, it’s an inflation based hobby, what i mean by that is: it’s better to keep the items lower, it adds value while making you crave the pulls. you can keep the percentages the same but mass produce, the big problem is that they probably have a set card number of the big cards for a time frame, over time the numbers will increase but basing it off of inflation helps understand that the supply goes up, there’s no reason for value on the sir’s, the ace spec, gold cards, etc. unless you moderate the initial launch it sucks but for the collection based side of things while keeping the value that’s always been there and another reason to hunt cards, it’s better to try and moderate the launch. i want the packs on release and i’ll miss out but i have to understand that this is how collectibles are always launched it could be they are trying to pump out the packs but i feel like it’d make more sense to keep the same pace as before. they are testing the audience numbers, reactions, quality, and rarity with each set. that’s business, especially from billion dollar industry🤷♂️ also they are trying to make money but they do care that they’re target commercial group does well in life, so that they’re coming back consistently, it helps retailers, the consumers and the business while not flooding the market too, especially if the set flops (i think the set will be a great set to look back on but still, the idea is always with every set)
This take is completely terrible, I think that the Pokemon TCG community consistently ignores the elephant in the room that is: Scalpers RUclipsrs “who rip until they complete a set” And distributors who are selling their own products. TPCI is more than capable of printing as much as they want to, but keeping numbers tighter is best for their pocket.
I do think as this has been a problem on a few occasions hidden fates had a similar issue Pokémon are releasing sets so close to each other, they should be printing the sets months and months in advance and maybe spread the sets out. This was announced a week after Surging Sparks
I cannot wait for all the backlash and tears when the Pokemon market crashes. It will and all this FOMO and glee will turn into anger and frustration why they can only resell their $130 etbs for $45.
They have their info wrong. Special sets never sell single packs. The only way your store is getting singles is by ripping open binder collections or poster boxes etc etc snd selling those packs individually
They don’t want to print to demand. If they did, stuff would be left on the shelves… Nothing on the shelves further drives demand, ensuring the shelves remain empty.
everything atm is sold out. Like loads of the sets before stellar crown are still there because of their mid cards, but eevee and it's evolutions are so beloved I didn't even know about Prismatic Evolutions and it was already sold out, but also Surging sparks and Stellar Crown all 3 sets are sold out in all sorts of formats, etb, booster box etc. I believe the same will happen with Journey Together, because loads of people are being nostalgic for the trainer pokemon full illustration cards. I don't think Nintendo has the machines necessary to print all the demand they need to ship out, I don't think it is the lack of people, but also they want to have honest people who won't steal, seeing how Nintendo is quite secure with hiring, even for production, but I think the machines they use there for printing and sorting into the foils are very specific and I am uncertain if they have more of those machines at the ready or perhaps some beef to get another one of them up and running if they even want to expand that.
I think we just need to wait a bit longer (hopefully). But I have to say the greedy people seem to be draining the enthusiasm amongst casual collectors and kids.
If eB games is doing that I wonder what GameStop in the states will do ?? Any idea cuz I preorderd three etbs, two poster collections, two binder collections, and ten booster bundles from GameStop !!! I’m thinking I might go pay off my preorders right away to make sure there locked in !!

I just cancelled my Prismatic evolutions preorders because very bad SIR rate. Many people opened boosters and were disappointed. I dont want waste money for that set. I love eevelutions but i have limits.
Between scalpers and people buying everything so they can be the next big seller on whatnot, the hobby has become more like watching stocks on wall street then a fun hobby.

I don’t think the answer is printing everything. Doesn’t have to be all sets for everyone. Each person or family is at their own personal income level. Pokémon doesn’t need to always artificially try to manipulate the market every time.
I definitely get that, but the fact this set is probably the most desired set in forever and a tonne of people are missing out, it becomes a question of how do you get more availability for everyone if that makes sense?
I disagree. Product should be available at retail, printing enough of a product that's guaranteed to sell out is definitely in the pokemon co's best interest.

I don't think so... if it has the same hit rate as its Japanese counterpart Terastal Festival, it's going to be a nightmare to pull what you want.
BTW Japanese boosters have guaranteed hits so English is going to have even worse pull rates.

@ nobody said anything about living off of it 🤷🏽♂️ It just makes the hobby more desirable to pull that card that’s worth something. Wouldn’t be as fun if all cards were $1.
Nah it would be way better if everyone could have the card they wanted. People are just keeping cards from kids who would enjoy it way more
@@Level99_Magikarp of course it's fun to pull a card that feels worth it but praying on cards getting more and more expensive is not fun. There's a fine line between having a few chases that are 20-40 dollars vs a couple cards that are hundreds of dollars.
Completely do away with pre orders. Problem solved
