Fun Fact: This was BY FAR the closest anybody came to actually beating MkLeo at this tournament.
Outside of this set, he won 22 games and lost only one: Game 1 of Winners Semis (a best of 5 set).

His fundamentals are as sharp as MKLeo's. Shame, though, that MKLeo wasn't even at full power in this set.

The fact that Peanut is playing as what’s know as one of the most unviable characters/low tier in smash against not only the best player, but the best player using one of the most viable characters/high tier AND still managed to win a match shows how underrated of a player Peanut is.
It also shows the beautiful balance in smash ultimate that any character at any tier can go far in the righthands.
I would just like to take a moment to appreciate Peanut's patience and adaptation during this set. Working around Leo's ledgetrapping and whiff-punishing Leo in neutral beautifully during game 2.
What do you mean? Second game was the lame hold below center platform strat, third game was the same but trying to do it with platforms on the sides.
All while having three dudes yelling nonsense while being three feet apart of the players.
My point is, there was no adaptation whatsoever, just a lame trick that Leo didn't have a complete answer until game three.

You can tell just how good Leo is compared to other people you see peanut fight. I don’t think I saw a single tech chase on a platform from peanut which is his bread and butter almost. Never gave peanut the opportunity to confirm into ko punch, taking it out of the equation entirely. Still won a game though, so great stuff peanut.
It seems like he just wasn't afraid of KO punch. Did he actually know that KO punch could be shielded if it was used in the air?

He tried to do what is called a gazelle KO punch, but inputted the command a little too early/late causing it to be the aerial version of the KO, which can be shielded
If you space KO punch correctly offstage, he slightly slides forward before punching, making him touch the ground before he’s in the air so it functions like a grounded KO punch

Yeah, I thought it was in very poor taste. I was uncomfortable watching this, and if I was peanut, I’d be so uncomfortable that my friend was acting like that and in my head about how he is effecting the others around me. That would have messed me up more than if someone was even cheering for Leo in my ear.

This man could single handedly dismantle anyone in SSBU. Mkleo just happens to know how to hold his composure, but you can see the cracks form and grow in his gameplay and the results of that pressure in the final game. Peanut is very calculated as a Little Mac player. Him being intentional/ very intelligent with his gameplay makes him that much more intimidating and on top of that, overall shows how fucking good at the game he is.

In this scenario , not only would it give peanut a chance to come back and win 3-2. But also if the ko punch got lucky and upset Leo, best of 5 can settle it.
I guess I never knew why tourny do best of 3 for pools. I know it takes more time, but not really.
uh, no it definitely does take more time, much much more time when you add up all the games. Idk the exact format of this tournament but I assume peanut is making bracket anyways, which is the point of pools, not to give us the most exciting drawn out match.
Yeah it really just comes down to time constraints. Nobody likes playing best of 3 but the extra games add up across all the different sets.
In a tournament of this size, making sets all best of 5 could add another day to the event, easy. Maybe even longer. Plus it’s exhausting for players to play that many long sets

Actually, it’s a little bit different. Focus attack only absorbs one hit, so a second one will break through 100% of the time, and the charge punch has super armor, which will absorb most all damage given while charging, no matter how many hits there are.

DLC characters makes the game harder for older characters in these games, that side B is just a buffed PK Fire.

Peanut proved to many Smash players that it doesn't matter if a certain character is "low-tier", as long as you are skilled and dedicated enough, you can make that character look like a monster. He did that by almost beating MKLeo, the greatest Smash player of all time, with an infamously "low-tier" character like Little Mac.

@@tallperson117 Gazelle Punch and airborne KO off of ledge look *very* similar, at least to me. Not really helped by how properly doing a Gazelle Punch results in the screen zooming in and all that, so you wouldn't be able to see differences anyway.

I was expecting that KO punch to be much, much closer at the end. The way it was talked about in stream chat that day had my expectations set a different way. They made it seem like it should have hit and it didn’t but nah it was a clean miss, nothing more/less.
