I remember watching Pastrana land the double backflip and telling myself the moment he dropped the bike to celebrate, “We just entered the next chapter of moto”. Seemingly simultaneously, free riding videos and the rock music era died out. Without a training facility that facilitates trick development, riders weren’t going to be in best trick anymore and weren’t from that day on. I’m glad Bereman and Hodges have brought back free ride and that Twitch is still doing his part to keep that era alive. Now, if we can get back to the fun days of rock music as well, there’s hope.

  • @Shoorit

I agree with you, but Graham has never ridden Motocross as far as I’m aware. He started in Trials and then moved to extreme enduro. Bit of a strange analogy there since that’s a completely different style of riding anyway. That being said GJ has won plenty of inportant and significant events in the field of hard enduro. Regardless, comparing any form of dirt riding to the pro motocross scene is just dumb. Also what does LL titles mean to a Euro rider? Not much. If you’re good you’re good and you’ll find your path, not everything points to AMA. This guy seems like a bit of a tool.

Axel, Tyler, Jason Borosky. All of them keep the free ride scene what it is, and that scene brings a lot of kids and fans into riding dirt bikes. Not everyone is into MX/SX. Just like Connor is huge for dirtbikes and riding. As a rider all my life, since I was 4. Raced when I was young and now in my early 30s free ride and woods race. I appreciate all these guys just as much if not more than the guys on the podium on TV in MX/SX. Different skills, same goals. Ride dirtbikes and promote their brand deals.

A free rider really is just a social media influencer.
These guys are just cashing in on the fact that there is finally younger generation of riders who will follow and watch everything they do on social media.
The riding is just a piece of it, but in the end of the day the majority of followers are watching for the person more than the riding.
They want to see the vlogs, behind the scenes, the parties, the girls and as much about their lives as they can.
People like Buttery and Axell just realized with a solid social media following, they can make more money and sponsors than riding would ever get them.

I do really wonder how long that deegan kid is gonna keep winning. Cause if you look at what factors define an athletes performance, it's clear that he outclasses all his competition. Most of his competition probably just ride on normal training days at the local track and didn't hit private super training compounds at 6 years old. But the problem is once he reaches actual pro level that advantage goes away. And just statistcally speaking, it is unlikely that he has the x-factor that jeffrey or Ken have. So let's see.

  • @wraith3951

He is not a C-Level rider. Few remember or know that he use to race Arenacross. Not everybody that races or qualifies in any big time race is or will be great but not everybody will qualify or have the skill to qualify at Arenacross, Supercross, Motocross.
