  • Went out to the Indian Demo event at www.indianmotor... and they brought out the brand new, not on sale yet, 2015 Indian Scout. With 1130CC (69 C.I.D.) and 100hp on tap and 73 ft. lbs. of twisting force this might be the motorcycle that finally makes Harley update its Sportster lineup.

    I own 2016 Scout and awesome ride and handling. when you throttle, it keeps going and going...reached 100 MPhil within seconds....then I switched rides with my buddy's 1200 Harley...like he said...night and day. ...update: my buddy is trading his harley for 2016 Indian Scout also..yeah!!!

      Yeah I kind of had a special spanked version of a Sporty. The Scout does have decent punch over the stock Sporty for sure. I still like the Scout to this day.

    I forgot to say you done a great review. It's actually quite rare to get a honest non biased review that's also very detailed and informative. I learned everything I need to know about the scout so job well done sir

      That you for the comment. I try to keep it honest as I can.

    I really enjoyed your ride review! I too rode one in at the new dealership here in Maine, and came back with a HUGE SMILE! I reserved mine back in August after they did the reveal at Sturgis (saw it online, wasn't there personally, darn it...) Anyway, I got mine December 24th, so quite a Christmas present to myself. Now, I can't wait 'til spring to ride it!!! Winters are long up here, so I guess for now, I'll have to be content with just looking at it, and starting it up once in a while. Thanks again for the great review!

    I really like your review of the Scout. I have one on order and can't wait to get it in Dec. Thanks for sharing your demo ride.

    Finally! I've been waiting for someone to do a 'ride review' from Indian Motorcycles of OKC. Thanks!

    Nice review. You talked constantly, and everything you said had value. I even dug the history lesson on the TV tower.

    I love the new scout but unfortunately my 6'2 frame just won't fit it. I'm hoping indian will release a mid size cruiser similar to the harley dyna class. So far indian has taken a shot at baggers and small sporty cruisers. Now we need a softail , dyna size indian.

    • @RabidHedgehog
      @RabidHedgehog  10 лет назад

      I do find it strange that they cannot tap into their Victory lineup and do some changes to make that mid-size bike.

    • @TheRealChuxter

      They offer a longer reach seat and longer reach foot controls to accommodate taller riders, and they have shorter reach upgrades for shorter riders.

      JohnnyRebKy The Dyna class is shit so you can bet your bottom dollar it won't happen...

    I actually don't want to ride one, I fear I'll want to trade in my sportster and I don't want negative equity. lol

    Great video. I like the way you put it out there. I am looking at the Scout, possibly to replace my old 1400 Intruder.
    Although at my size, more and more folks are telling me I should go bigger. I have always viewed motorcycling from a minimalist more elemental perspective and prefer smaller cruisers with more punch than the big loafing around kind.
    Thanks for putting it out there.
    I have been watching every video about these bikes and so far I like your the best.

    • @RabidHedgehog

      This bike does capture the soul of the motorcycle for sure. I believe that what Polaris is doing with it may actually cause Harley to take another look at their operations. But this is the reason I love the Sportster, Scout, Bonneville, and Motto Guzzi V7 and that is because they have a soul and spirit that is why we ride in the first place.

    Thanks for the video! The bike has good torque down low, but peak power is more around 8,000 RPM and it didn't sound like you ever got there. :( If you get to ride one again remember to rev the nuts off it at least once! :D

      +Rabid Hedgehog yea you need to rev those things more like a sport bike. It really wakes up over 5k RPM.

      deadbolt9019 I get another shot with the Scout in about a month. I'll flog it this time.

    Great review. You hit most, if not all, of the key points of the bike. How's it handle at low speeds?

    • @RabidHedgehog
      @RabidHedgehog  9 лет назад

      This bike handles very well at low speeds. It does not show well in the video as most of the roads where we were stopping and performing at low speeds are broken up and rutted. But it was very well balanced at all speed levels I tested. (0-85 ish is what I got to test it at).

  • @bryanwalsh999
    @bryanwalsh999 9 лет назад +2

    That Indian has more hp and way less weight than your Sportster. You just feel the difference in the low end torque delivery on your Sportster I'm sure. The Indian will drop it like a stone in a drag race as I have already seen. Takes a lot of money to get a 103 to pull the extra heft of a HD Sportster to the same kind of times as the Indian.

    • @RabidHedgehog
      @RabidHedgehog  9 лет назад +1

      The Sportster I have is a little angrier than average and I have beaten plenty of stock bikes at the light and easily hand it to the 103s as well. But the Indian is a great bike and they may be comparable at the line. I have a buddy who is thinking about getting one of the Scouts and if he does I will be sure to get a video of that for sure!

    • @momz6569

      A 103 Sportster? Never heard of such a thing. The M8 comes as the 103 in the base model motor in the bigger bikes, but not in the sportsters.

      I am getting ready to do a video on it. The weather has been a bit on the sloppy side as of recent and work has been tying me down but this weekend the temps are supposed to be rather nice so I am going to do a full review and walk around and have it posted by Sunday!

    Am I the first to comment? Yessss. Very cool bike, they had these in Fayetteville, I wanted to ride one so bad but just plain ole didn't. Soon, my fellow, soon. 2015 is gonna be a great year.

    • @RabidHedgehog
      @RabidHedgehog  10 лет назад

      It is a good bike for sure. They made us ride in a group but that lead rider was getting his grove on because it was his first time on the Scout as well so he was having some play time and made for a fun ride.

    I watched another review on 15 Indian scout. That review said there was a ton of power but it was all after 4500 RPMs. And it was a docile bike until you hit that high RPM spot, would you agree with that assessment or do you think there's plenty of power in the lower RPMs as well?

    • @RabidHedgehog
      @RabidHedgehog  7 лет назад

      It has enough pickup on the low end to get you off the line and all but it is a bit of a more rev happy bike that catches in the mid-range.

  • @momz6569
    @momz6569 5 лет назад

    It seems to be an OK beginner bike. The power is adequate, but it is not really a powerful bike. It could use better brakes, but for a novice it is better to have this type of stopping power. There is not much plastic on this bike, but the quality of the metals used is suspect. Harley Davidson offers the new "750 Street" for quite a bit less and offers much better performance as well as their legendary dealer support and a free first year membership to "HOG". Overall, it is better than a japanese bike, but it has a far way to go to be in the same league as Harley Davidson.

    • @RabidHedgehog
      @RabidHedgehog  5 лет назад

      Being that I worked in the service side of HD I know the faults and issues and there are suspect issues with HDs of all kinds. Some it is supplier materials used, some it is the engines themselves (Streets like to detonate themselves for some reason). I can tell you the best two bikes HD builds and that is the Sportster Evo and the VRSC line. Always in for maintenance, never in for repair. Everything else just is not up to par with other bikes.

    Should've of followed the 1920's design to the letter and used modern materials, sell it as a 'advanced replica'.

    I am 6'3" would I fit on the bike with the extended controls?

    • @RabidHedgehog
      @RabidHedgehog  9 лет назад

      Sorry for the late response. I would have the dealer size you up for their extended reach control surfaces. I caught up with a man who was 6'5" and he was riding one. Said it was still a bit snug but loved it.

    • @RabidHedgehog
      @RabidHedgehog  9 лет назад

      About $1700.00 stage one kit, Fuel Pak, Vance and Hines Pipes, and I changed out the intake and modified the stock cover to make it look normal and fit over the high flow.

    • @Sig721Tau
      @Sig721Tau 9 лет назад

      ***** Is that $1700.00 worth of new/used parts? Or all new parts?

    • @RabidHedgehog
      @RabidHedgehog  9 лет назад

      They were new parts. But instead of screaming eagle pipes I went with Vance and Hines because they were cheaper, then I got a fuelpak from them as well
