- As professional athletes coming into any professional sports, you don't get to determine where you will play for the first years of your career. You don't get to pick your coach, teammates, GM or fans like you do in college. Sometimes it works out for you and sometimes it doesn't. Here's an athlete it didn't workout for as of now. Here's 3 reasons why I think their growth was abruptly stunted. Who knows, maybe they'll return to form. I sure hope so. Thank you for watching. Some of these ball players are victims of premature success...these ballislife, house of highlights, Dawkins and other social media mediums give hoopers too much spotlight before they move the needle. In the process, seems as though their development/perception is warped as a consequence

Agreed... Social media creates a mob rule mentality, where clicks and likes determine one values... In fact, social media gives underdeveloped people a voice, which in turn undermines our society/infrastructure... I see this in our education system, politics, religion, sports, etc...
For example: Liangelo Ball was moved to the front of the line due to popularity, not merit... Out of the top 1000 available players Liangelo Ball probably ranks in the 900th percentile. No way he should have got a contract, whatsoever.

This player wasn't just great in college, he was feared. Analysts often wondered how the opposing team would guard him. In the end, he wasn't even drafted. Please do the stunted growth of Scotty Thurman.

It does not work out in the NBA for many of these players because they cannot consistently shoot the basketball.Blakeney was a shooting guard who could not consistently shoot,that is why he was waived by the NBA.Inconsistent shooting is one of the main things that will get you waived by the NBA.The great Bill Russell said it best,he said that basketball players are players of habit,meaning that when they go to the gym to workout they only work on their strengths and not their weaknesses.Kawhi Leonard is a player who worked on his weakness,which was a inconsistent jumpshot,now he has a deadly and consistent jumpshot.
He went to the wrong school...following Ben Simmons wasn't good. Plus he didn't play defense...

Hopefully playing against over seas competition opens his eyes to try and expand his game. In the grand scheme of things he did make it, now the next question is can he get back and become a instant offense type of player off the bench with average passing ability and or defense.
the type of player who needs the keys to fully stand out. you can't give him 15 minutes a game and expect him to fully be who he is. [speaking in terms of him in the league] this man is gifted. but he still has an opportunity to display those gifts even if it's in europe. unfortunately, the nba isn't the greatest place for nurturing it's talent for the long haul. it's all a 'what have you done for me lately?' and circumstantial thing, (same thing that goes on in all businesses worldwide) as you explain so well. that's why i respect you on a way higher level than just basketball, jc.

as a bulls fan when he was with the bulls yes hes a great bucket here and there but he doesn't pass the ball and tends to play selfish taking bad shots. For example, even when hes double teamed, he would still try to shoot it. He needed to learn how to play the game correctly than what he did in the gleague

I think this video is a little disingenuous. He played good his freshman year not great. His senior year he played great, and definitely well enough to get drafted, at least second round. No question. He didnt have to average 20+. 46% from the field is solid for a scoring shooting guard. It was just politics and the hype surrounding other prospects and not him. Im a believer that getting to the tournament and performing in the tournament will boost your stock. I thought he played decent for the time he was given in chicago and his per 36 numbers were good, but once again... POLITICS. Blakeney is an assassin though. No question he should be in the league. He’s better than half the dudes starting on some teams right now.
Tone was ready. That offensive spark off the bench for my BULLS. But they had to free up space when Coby White was drafted so they reached a buyout so he could go to China. I think he should've got a 3yr guaranteed contract over Felicio & Denzel Valentine who he was more productive than as well as Shaq Harrison. He can got a better salary & can continue to work on his game more in China.

Do Tommy Mason Griffin. He was the best point guard that I ever saw play in Houston. He was ranked #1 In the nation in 8th grade. From hiram Clarke Texas, rough childhood. Tour his ACL freshman year. Went under the radar for a sec. His jr year they had a big tournament call Houston Vs everybody. That air in tv.And Tommy scored 40 + point vs oak hills Brandon Jennings. He regain his all American statics he had .An opportunity to go to Oak Hill academy. But due to certain politics . Which would've changed everything going into senior year. He play with d class players. No time to showcase henwas truly the best. He end up going to texas a&m with tiny gallon (another player that was stunted) came off the bench under Willie Warren until willie warren got injured for the year. He then average about 17 pts. It's a highlight in RUclips when the commentators where surprised how lakers Avery Bradley couldn't gaurd him. Yo he is 59, 215 all muscle gaurd that can windmill dunk . Can score better or as well as Isaiah thomas. Please look him up. Great story

It's hard to demostrate your full skillset with limited minutes especially when your a scoring guard the offense built in Chicago with that current coach didn't fit his style. On top of that I feel like given the right oppurtuniy dude can go and hold his own with anyone ask Kevin Durant he vouched for him
