Here is my take on Stephen Boyd after 30 years of being a devoted fan. He had some early relationships that left him not trusting of women. That includes his 1st brief marriage. He wrote a song in the 1970s that shows his mistrust stating "woman you're not a friend" women are always "changing their mind". Dolores Hart, who became a nun, said he was the only man she ever loved😢 but he wasn't interested. Finally shortly before his death he married his secretary a woman he knew for a long time and trusted her. Unfortunately he died before he could have the happiness he deserved. He smoked and drank too much. His heart finally gave out. So sad.

Stephen was not gay. He bought his parents a house in Bangor, Co Down and he and his second wife came here often to visit them. I don't know how these rumours start. It's best to dismiss them perhaps Raquel's obvious charms didn't attract him. He was a very serious actor and dedicated to his craft. Such a pity he died so young.

I don't know but to me Stephen Boyd was gay, I've done a little research on him and his marriages and yes it seems he was one of those "Closet Hiders", he was a great actor no doubt about it, but something about him during his film career and short life span that points toward that direction...Homosexual
He wasn't gay the problem was that he was a heavy smoker and that took it's toll on his heart and anyway it's nobody's business it was his personal life so sad that he died so young he had so much to give 💔😢💔😢😭😢 😢💔

Ben-hur is so special to me, and Stephen has everything to do with that. He portrayed Messala soulfully and passionately. That oscar shoulda been his.
