It's funny how kendricks voice has changed over time. It's like he's going through puberty as a grown man
+Jabril Jones i thought i was the only one that noticed lol
His voice changes like on For Sale? (interlude) and Hood Politics it's different to Alright and King Kunta
your voice changes as you get older you sound older ,you could also notice voice changes in emenim his earlier stuff sounded more youthful .
I thought i was the only one who thought this i thought sum was wrong wit ME. At first but i guess it is kendrick. Cause he sound like he lost his voice all on to pimp a butterfly. I cant describe it too well but it seem like his voice was more "full" if u will, during 2012-13
Sean Dafny nah he just tweaks his voice to add depth to his music
Kendrick doing the hand movements you do outside a window of a car XD
lol I jus got what you said
+King OxyJ LMAO
Hahahahah
+King OxyJ thats how you keep that flow going you visually flow and your brain will follow
It got ugly waving yo hands out the window
Its not the flow that I was most umpressed with (even though thats good) its the lyrical skill and rhyme schemes that really impressed me and hes only gotten better!
Brother, do I have news for you
Kendrick Lamar and Joey Bada$$ have had the best freestyles on this Sway, in my opinion.
i really like tito lopez's freestyle on sway. look it up
Jack DaSilva Ok I will.
this shits from back in the day but look up the crooked i freestyle on the wake up show, which was sways original show...rips this to shreds
I felt papoose's 5 fingers is the best, check that shit
Go check out King Los freestyles
Why is this so short though
Yeee gettem!! if you ever watch supernat or mos def freestyle you can clearly see that they are actually freestyling because they say simple rhymes that are obviously off the dome. Shad K is probably one of my favorite freestylers in the game, hes way too good!
"I play kickball with Mars (biggest planet of the three) and marbles with Pluto and Venus (two smaller planets)" whoah. God damn.
best thing to happen to rap since tupac.. him and joey badass saving hip hop right now
actually big daddy kane said, that back in the day freestyle was actually a written verse with no specific topic, and that they didnt respect rappers who came off the dome because they werent critiqued as hard as rappers that wrote rhymes, because they were all about who can write better, it was later that the term freestyle started to be used for rapping off the dome because so many people started misusing the word...
I hope Kendrick's right hand never gets damaged. It seems to be the source of his flow.
"This is the future if i say so, yall coping fitted caps when im coping halos...the God of Rap". That was Beautifiul!! lol
raindrops fall by the millions
no love just broken feelings
killings for no reasons
wounds get soaked without healing
'Til this day he is still Claiming "God of Rap"
i swear i watched all the rappers freestyle and when i read the comments its all negative. ya'll gotta stop hating
My top two fav rappers Kendrick Lamar and J Cole
The best freestyler 👑👑
smooth beat
Sick, beat and lyrics.
Yes sir
The Instrumental is "East NY Theory - Groupe Home"
Mad talent
The sound that plays in the beginning with the intro sounds like one of the sounds from a Remix of a Skrillex song called Scary Monsters & Nice Sprites.
i play kick balls with mars, and marbles with pluto and venus witness the genius...
When you rap the hold point is to say lines no one has ever said , but even so sometimes you still might copy someone else shit.
Absolutely Astonishing That shit is ill !
Kendrick was nervous when they asked him because he said aww man
I feel you I'm an old head but dude is right...freestyles don't necessarily mean off the top anymore. It changed in the early 2000s when cats would bring prewritten metaphors in. Now, just about every Hot 97 freestyle is prewritten, and taken straight off a phone. It sucks but its true. You have to have your ammunition ready nowadays. Sad, because you and I both know what a TRUE FREESTYLE is
kendrick is dope dawg
WoW
Please just witness the Genius
he reminds me of poetic from gravediggaz
what song was that so i can have the instrumental
7 years later and we still don't have an answer. I guess we're uneducated
East NY Theory by Brain Sick Mob
you’re welcome lol
damn that was dope
god mc that gotta see
Group Home- East NY Theory is the beat. Thumbs up so people see.
Wow
my hand is a dolphin
This shits almost a decade old
He ripped it i like the hand movement to pause but Everyone check me out ill appreciate it
MF DOOM and Kendrick would make the most unreal album ever.
OMD's that's genius
Naa more like kendrick and black thought, doom is a very different kind of rapper, i dont think he will gel that well with k dot as black thought
@@suryataneja5213 DOOM is not just a rapper. He is actually more known as a master producer and his style would fit very well with Kendrick.
@@suryataneja5213 yeah black thought is not a producer..
Looking at this comment now😢long live DOOM
Damn give Kendrick a Jazz beat and he will kill it for sure
listen to pimp a butterfly lol
Honestly Kendrick has that universal flow he can rap on like any beat you give him
Erm tpab
Zay Beatz only other person i can hear rapping over this and killing it is DOOM or Quas. or ATCQ too (sounds like something out of midnight marauders anyway)
+Jesus H. Chris ATCQ, DOOM, and Kendrick. All my favorites
I miss this Kendrick - when he sounded bored on the mic.
Lol
shii was dope too lol
he's got quite a few projects sounding like this
He still bored lmao.
Bravo Anane he was really young then now his pushing 30
my hand is A DOOOLLPPHIIIIN
lmao!!!
bahahaha
Bruh dat shitt LMFAOO
😂😂😂😂😂
Man this shit had me weak as fuck !lmao
"I interact with the inner city villians that'll enter your circle like computer hack and then give you dap" Wow.
You have no idea how hard this bar is now that he beefing with drake
He just spit more shit than most rappers do in a album.
odie walker 4 real
I play kickball with mars and marbels with pluto and venuss witness and genuis ..
I think that metaphor is dope asf i dontt knoww whyy
Im missing the metaphor you mind explaining it? :3
Hes comparing 2 things ? Using planets
brian kilmer Those aren't metaphors. Hyperbole is closer, but not sure if that's the correct terminology, but he's not comparing anything.
Ira Nutter there aint a metaphor there. But i saw this guy say it was... sooo i decided to make a fool outta him lol
He was absolutely correct labeling them as metaphors. Metaphorically, he is comparing mars to a kickball. Metaphors are comparing to unlike things, kickballs and Mars, without using a comparing word, which it isn't used. It would be a simile if he used a comparing word, such as I use Mars as a kickball, as being the comparing word.
So fucking smooth man, Kendrick's flow is so damn good. He knows how to ride a beat well
bruh they said k dot not battle tested.....goofies. Drake and Cole will never beat Kendrick bar for bar. Its just not in the cards for either of them.
To anyone saying Kendrick is overrated. Y'all kill me with that shit, LOL. If you don't know nothing about rap, don't open your lips. Seen some people comparing Logic to Kendrick, smh. Logic has one of the most basic flows I've ever heard. All he does is rhyme. No real complex metaphors, advanced wordplay, double entendres, just straight basic lyricism in its rawest form. Which is dope to an extent, especially since his flow sells it so sell, but to compare to a mind of a genius like Kendrick who can release mainstream songs with a message or story, release mixtapes full of a hip hop head's dream of top notch lyricism and storytelling, while trying to give people a new direction, he's untouchable. Dot's a genius. To the people talking about his "Control" verse. Another bit of proof you don't know shit since you go to the most hyped verse he's ever made. It received so much hype because you had people opening their eyes who only listen to the radio. You got to understand to them, it was mind blowing, and to people who study hip hop like a lot of us, who dive into internet interview videos and freestyles aside from listening to real music non stop, it was just another great MC doing his thing. But if anything, you should take in the fact that he was able to do that. That so many mainstream mindless fans who can't think for themselves could even understand and appreciate his verse on that song. That's what makes it even greater. FYI. His verse was the best on control in terms of lyricism. This is coming from someone who knows just how much of a damn alien genius Jay Elect is with his crazy ass rhyme skills. Also someone who appreciates the cleverness in Big Sean's verse (Which in terms of effort and personal dedication, he had the best verse). Don't get me wrong, Jay Elect's verse was again crazy, but understand his go to flow always incorporates biblical references from his religion. It's the norm from him, wasn't his hottest verse ever. As far as Sean, easily one of his best verses and efforts, and was crazy with the wordplay, cleverness, and of course catchiness. However, Kendrick again, brought a little intro packed with lyrics to set the tone, in his odd vocal mixes he uses. Then he totally killed it with wordplay, lyricism, presence, emotion, and just REALNESS. He talked about how bad ass of an MC he was while giving you personal accomplishments as an argument; "Blessing to Paul McCartney, you called me a Black Beatle, I'm either that or a Marley", I mean it's fucking Paul for crying out loud. For him to tell you that? Then he is right about being in the GOAT discussions already at such a young stage of his career. Then he goes onto call out friendly competition, which is what hip hop lacks now these days. A lot of MC's would rather not make songs with people simply so they don't get bested. Back in the Golden Age it was all about competition. It was like a sport. That's how it should be. FRIENDLY mutual respective competition. For Kendrick to be the one to dish that out there, and "raise the bar", while proclaiming he's the King of NY (Both as a claim of his greatness and to cleverly provoke competition), King of the Coast, Makaveli's offspring, one of the greatest alive rn, and still killing it lyrically, made it easily the best/most conversional and hottest verse out that year. If you only look at lyricism for verses, you're gladly mistaken, especially in terms of greatest verses. You have to look at impact, presentation, authenticity, meaning, relevance, and than lyricism. The tones were set perfect in all those areas to make a legendary verse. You people are so ignorant. Half of you probably never heard Jay Elect's "Exhibit C" verses before you even caught his name and looked him up, and it's easily a GOAT verse. So to complain about K Dot being overrated and bashing his "Control" verse. You're ignorant. Name me a rapper who has grabbed the game by the horns like this while having a positive message and being one of the only to take the game to its light, who took over ANOTHER artist own song, and can do it all with the genius lyricism and brain he has, while he's HUMBLE and REAL. Who also assures to appeal to the mainstream to keep the cash flow for his family, and to keep his message and whereabouts known to the public so he can guide this rap game. Someone who's also not into the jewelry, drugs, and the whole rap persona, in his words a "Good Kid". You people really sleep on what Kendrick is to this rap game. Sucks to see it. People wonder why hip hop is in shambles. He's another fucking Pac.
i feel you but at the same time..... straight basic lyricism is what its all about man. you turn on the damn radio these days and you hardy hear that kind of shit... just drake say you dont know you dont know over and over and over or lil wayne rhyming everything with n*gga. i miss Lyricism and i enjoy kendrick and logic. they are both lyrically 2 of the best in the game right now. and when i say 2 of the best that could be 2 out of 10, 2 out of 20, 2 out of 50...im just sayin... theyre both good.
That shit was too long bruh. Im sorry.
TL;DR... YoungGuns830 believes Kendrick is a rapper who has grabbed the game by the horns in a very unique manner. He not only carries a positive message, but also does it with genius lyricism while still staying humble and real. He respects rappers like Logic, Jay Elect, and Big Sean for their flow and rhyme schemes, but feels that Kendrick not only incorporates the aforementioned, but also adds deep metaphors and genius lyricism to the mix. YoungGuns830 believes that ignorance or disagreement to his views is the reason why hip hop isnt as popular as it should be. In conclusion, YoungGUns830 likens Kendrick Lamar to Tupac Shakur.
That's an essay
yea dont hurt yourself..leave it alone if its longer than 3 sentences.
Section.80 was is only album out at this time. ADHD was the first Kendrick song I heard.
fuck that
Backseat freestyle was the first for me
Also me
Still here in 2024
MY HAND IS A DOLPHIN!!!
Some of you people cant tell the difference between freestylist and writers...don't judge if you don't know what you're talking about. Its hard for a freestyle rapper to write and its hard for a writer to freestyle.
Chris Seigle homie you said that perfect. Well put dog
***** me too. I write a lot but freestyle is nothing to me I just catch myself repeating things sometimes. But if I take like a two weeks first from both ican freestyle like forever.
I think when people say that they mean main stream hip hop, which is pretty retarded actually. But music, when delivered the right way is food to the soul. And they're some amazing hip hop songs that's prove that.
***** r u me
True in some instances but definitely shouldn't be applied as a rule as skill doesn't depend on these labels at all.
As my mind drift
Then split, like the middle of a spliff
I began to catapult off the cliff
Of the unknown, I got a feeling in my funny bone
That we're not the same, just antonyms of a different age
My soul flock, with the carefree
Words of the wise, I spoke a hundred times like a Goldie
(Haha) L-M-F-A-O. I hate yall, but I spread love like mayo
Then spread slugs
My brain matter
Is a brain fatter
See my vision
Or my vision'll stare at ya
This is the future if I say so
Yall copping fitted caps
I'm about to go and cop a halo
The God of rap and I mean it
I play kickball with Mars
And marbles with Pluto and Venus
Witness the genius
I interact with the inner city villains
That are into your circle
Like a computer hack
Then give you that (Haha)
As my mind drift and then split
Like the middle of a spliff
I begin to catapult off the Cliff
Of the unknown
I got a feeling in my funny bone
That we are not the same
Just antonyms of a different age
My soul flock with the care free
Words of the wise
I spoke a hundred times like a gold D
Ha Ha
LMFAO
I hate y’all but I spread love like mayo
This spread slugs
My brain mater hits a brain fatter
And I’m
Painting better visions to stare at ya
This is the future if I say so
Y’all rocking fitted caps
I’m bout to go and cop a halo
God of rap and I mean it
I play kickball with mars
and marbles with Pluto and Venus
Witness the genius
I interact with the inner city villains
That a enter your circle like a computer hack then give you dap
Ha ha
All you lames saying he's wack. Kendrick in his own calibur, his lyrics and rhyme schemes are clever unpredictable, unlike most rappers. On top of that, he probably wrote this in 10 minutes. So simple yet so clever.
haha lmfao I hate yall but I spread love like mayo
W kendrick
lol "I hate y'all but I spread love like mayo" I love that shit
for ppl in the comments like He wrote this, uh ITS STILL FROM KENDRICK😂😂
+Jeremiah Box uh but writing isnt freestyling.
+thisgurlthatgirl a freestyle can be written
My hand is a dolphin - Kendrick Lamar 2011.
saving hip hop as we speak
Kendrick is a baws.
This was 11 years ago and was unbelievable the things he rapped about. Now he's hailed as a top top artiste/emcee with a Pulitzer to show for it.
Kendrick Lamar, the great.
9 years later look what just happened lmfao
@@blaccgetsuga8714 Man! Time does tell a lot when you're patient with it! 😄
No 5 fingers tho? Cmon its Kendrick!
THIS WAS LIKE 2010 BEFORE 5 FINGERS MY G
Yea I found it later on. Thanks.
this new generation of rappers is amazing. Stalley , Kendrick and J. Cole are going to run the game!
You were right
Except stally
What's the name of the Instrumental?...
kendrick, jcole and logic gotta make an album together
Daniel Rubin logic is shit tho
He's not shit fuck you mean
Kellic Moron
Logics music is dope but most of his freestyles are from his songs so not really freestyles and in every interview he's like "my mom and dad arebdrug users, I'm addicted to cigarettes"
mc best lmao
Let'd play a game. Drink everytime Kendrick moves his hands
he used that verse from his song "Mind Drift"
What people don't get, even if it isn't a freestyle, HE WROTE THIS! Most rappers can't even write lyrics so prolific as this.
I wish I could meet Kendrick hes my isparation💯
I hope he can INSPIRE you to spell fucking hell man.
+TheBetaWolf I hope he can inspire you to use correct punctuation.
My good sir, there is in fact a difference between not using punctuation on the internet and spelling like an idiot. David Jamison
And to think, there are people out there right now, who claim to know about hip hop, doubting this man lol. He's obviously going to take his time responding to Aubrey, and the way I see it, when he finally does, it'll be well worth it. This isn't fast food music or fast food lyricism. Kendrick makes the music count.
And this right here aged like fine wine👌🏽
That battle wasn't even close.
Drake went from "nah nah you following through" to not sounding enthused😂
As soon as the beat dropped I knew it was bout to be ill af
What's that beat? Anyone know it?
Adetola Akanbi-Onasanya group home - east ny theory
this sounds like mf doom if they made a collab album that would be incredible
haha they said it was written. but when you think about it freestyles are pretty much rhymes and shit you memorized to go with a flow anywhere. and also this shit was posted in 2011 so he was still thinking of shit for Good kid maad city. sooooo.. you try to freestlye and tell me if you dont say the same thing over again... haha
Damn Kendrick set sways universe on fire
shes a genius
pause
"My soul flock with the carefree, words of the wise, I spoke a hundred times like a gold D" That's pretty fucking ill. What are you dudes hating for? He's a breath of fresh air in this Hip-Hop game especially compared to what we have been hearing for these past 5-6 years. Just respect the art and open up your minds.
Fukkin AMAZING!
What has he not done?
What he hasn't done is fundamentally revolutionize any facet of rap grammar,or at the very least pioneer some new, distinct development in the art form.
His timing is traditional. His syntax is traditional. His cadences are traditional. His rhyme schemes are traditional. His lyric themes as well.Name anything Kendrick has done & I can give you someone who has done it before.
Dude is mad talented;even lyrically superior to a lot of his predecessors.
Skills grown on trees,though.
GOAT
He did the alphabet rhyme scheme
Damn man the way he approaches a verse is just so unique his lyrics are fucking awesome
that flow wit the beat was perfect
My hand is a dolphin!
who is this kid is he rapping or reading from a book?!...99% of all new rappers don't know the meaning of FLOW.
You're fuckin stupid not knowin who this rapper is, he's one of the best rappers out there, his name is Kendrick Lamar
old rap sounded all the same. Its time to move on, keep the lyricism and ideas but lets push music forward.
This 'kid' dropped one of the greatest albums of all time, it's ignorant fucks like this guy that voted Macklemore for best hip hop album of the year back when. Fucking sad.
Alex Berman bruh I don't think you know anything about rap this kid has two of the best albums out. Had an legend who mentored him. Tupac is a big inspiration to him and he just released an album that had 9.7 million plays in one day on spotify and rappers always want him to be on a feat. Fuckin legends like dre and em said he is the next big thing. I fuck with him since Overly Dedicated and for someone who knows about rap like you claim, you should know who this dude is. You probably listen to bull shit like that young money bull shit little fuck boy. Haha man I hope your trolling because if not you need to stop smoking whatever your smoking pop in a Kendrick cd and rethink what the fuck you just said
Bruh, i know a lot about rap/hip hop i grew up in the Boogie down Bronx and Queens in the late 80's and 90's bruh. it's a culture, i Dj and played drums for over 15 yrs. sorry don't get all butt hurt he's not that great he's just in the mainstream spotlight right now, there are plenty of dope MCs young and older that would slice him up dig for them stop listening to the radio. you said it legends...that's what i grew up with bruh.
what beat is this? can anyone please let me know
East NY Theory by Brain Sick Mob
Why Kendrick always sound half asleep in his freestyles
Joey Badass, kendrick, R.I.P Capital Steez, Earl Sweatshirt, Eminem, Hopsin, and Tribe called quest are the only real rappers in the industry..... all the other rappers talk about random stuff
Papoose too, you should've seen his 5 fingers
Childish Gambino
Childish....hmmmm he alright i think his bes t song is 3005
Brandon Williams
thnx i will
Vince staples
Its sooooo funny how we as fans or whatever you wanna call em love the artist when he is underground we say ahhhh he is great he will kill any mainstream artist. Then when he makes it and does just that and in the same breath we say oh he is overrated or he sucks now, his last mixtape or album was better than his mainstream album. Come on guys lets be happy that we have him cause when he is gone then we will all be saying "damn I wish he was around to kill these lame mainstream artist".
This dude is so inspirational blows my mind everytime i hear him on the mic..
When he said he played kickball with mars and marbles with Pluto and Venus HOLY SHIT
Love that verse but it wasn't a freestyle. That's how I know a majority of you aren't listening to Kendrick like that. Has no one really ever listened to "My Mind Drifts" by him? Like damn....
I have not, but ty for posting this! It's painfully obvious that this is a pre-written verse...Apparently a lot of ppl are retarded.
mike patnaude do either of you know the definition of a freestyle?
Nathan Gray Freestyle rap: Freestyle is a style of rap, with or without instrumental beats, in which rap lyrics are improvised, i.e. performed with no previously composed lyrics, and "off the top of the head
Do you see how it says performed without previously composed lyrics? And all the lyrics from this were taken from a song he had already written. So it looks like I do know what the definition of a freestyle is. Apparently you don't.
Chase Murphy ty again haha
the actual definition? google wont help you. Mos Def freestyles different than a Big L.
Dolphin Hand
YOU DONT GOT DA ANSWERS !
you wanna start an internet war, call kendrick whack. everyone knows hes not whack or overrated but people say that shit anyways
west coast vibez 😊
Damn I was 16 here time flies…😢
LAMAR IS A WANNABE
Jazz beats are Kendrick’s anger pills
