  • I flew the DJI Inspire 1 from Plum Island to Essex Bay in Massachusetts on 9/20/15.
    With the Inspire 1, I typically film in 1080p with 60fps. The 4K resolution option is interesting, but the low frame rate (24-30 fps) severely limits the speed at which you can rotate the camera without making the image choppy, and it also limits nearby translational speeds as well. The 60 fps options in 1080p and 720p are both pretty good, but more FPS (100 +) would be better. I know the Hero black 4 can achieve these higher frame rates.

    Fished for Stripers off Plum Island beach in the 70's. Ate fried clams many times at the Clam Box in Ipswich. Loved it there. Great flight.

      Thanks Kenni, yes you definitely need to have confidence in your machine. Helps to have a spotter friend with you maybe with binoculars to help keep an eye on it. Just make sure do don't go too far to cut off your transmission signal behind trees or a hill, and you need to keep your antennas pointed straight at the drone (exactly perpendicular to your line of sight), not off by more than a few degrees. Also don't fly if the winds are strong. Good luck!

      +Daily Drone FPV I agree this is a great vid try adding more tags from the area, Google "cliffyuno essex bay" to check out some of my drone vids, also i will try the 1080 @60 fps, what software do you use to edit your 4k video with?

      I have lots of tags, but I could try adding more I guess. I use quicktime 7 pro to edit my 1080p60 footage because it's fast and easy. I also have final cut pro to edit my 4K footage, but I haven't gotten around to learning how to use the software yet so all my 4k footage is just waiting in storage

    wow. what range are you getting and did you call plum island airport before flying?

    • @DailyDroneFPV
      @DailyDroneFPV  8 лет назад +3

      +kennethpappas Not sure on the range but some RUclipsrs claim the drone can go several miles with an uninterrupted line of sight RC signal. The Plum island airport is not considered to be a large or medium airport (you can see the US restricted airspaces here: www.mapbox.com/drone/no-fly/ ), and I was flying more than five miles away from the airport just in case. Also, I was operating in the hobbyist airspace under 400 feet of altitude. Thus, I was obeying all of the guidelines for hobbyists.

      Daily Drone FPV so you don’t have to contact plum island airport when droning? I always do because I thought I had to when flying within 5 miles of a airport.
      Also can you post your flight track? I want to see it. How far was the flight? Mine doesn’t have that type of distance. Well I can get it to 2 miles so far. But your drone is much more advanced

      yes, if you're within 5 miles you should contact the control tower, but for this flight I was never within 5 miles of the airport so no need to contact them. Hope that clarifies.
